I’ve been in bed all Christmas and on strong antibiotics so have spent far too much time on the internet.... shopping.
I’m interested to know what people are buying. I’m not necessarily looking bargains so much as interesting pieces and ideas for styling them.
I’ve ordered three things so far... and will now stop...
A turquoise satin midi skirt (Wolf and Badger)
A muted pink oversized sweatshirt with pleated sleeves (also Wolf and Badger)
A black oversized (yes it’s a theme) jumper dress from Arket that I plan to wear over the satin midi or incorporate into the mumsnet “Swedish Architect” look. I have half an idea that the sweatshirt will go over the midi too but that would be bold.
What have all you lovely people been buying?
Also any ideas how I can style a turquoise satin (not pleated) midi would be appreciated.

Adding to my earlier post. With one eye on the Sound of Music I went onto the John Lewis sale and ordered a cream stripe Mother of Pearl dress, 2 bras and matching knickers as they were all half price - actually the dress was a bargain £20. Am holding out for Net a Porter further reductions.

Zebracat · 27/12/2020 19:27

A huge jumper from H&M, with some beige jogger/cargoes. Tempted by a couple of jumpers and a dress in the Wrap sale, and Ive been looking at a Kin bag in JL. I bought a lot of soft bras this year, only 1 is any good and that’s M&S, so I will look at their sale and who knows.

WeCameToDance · 27/12/2020 19:38

A set of the Urban Decay glitter eyeliners. I love them! I could never find a eyeshadow sparkly enough so I’ve had to resort to actual glitter.

The temptation to buy a pair of cloud nine straighteners is strong. I have a steampod. Not the newest one, the one with a water pod and they are such a faff. I can’t curl with them either but every ‘normal’ straightener I’ve owned I’ve had no problems curling with. Hmmmm decisions...

I'm after an oversized merino or cashmere jumper in a soft colour (not black/red/yellow) - I like the look of Pure but not the price tag (£150). A few of mine have shrunk and others have, er, just stopped being quite so oversized.
DS needs some funky tops (Mini Boden or Scandi style).
And I'd like some Bam seamless pants but they are OOS in M.
Any suggestions??

smeerf · 27/12/2020 20:53

This is the dress, it's a bit drapery so fingers crossed. I'll be wearing it off the shoulder. Now just to find the shoes (would love a block heeled bright/metallic mule but can't find the right one for the life of me)

Have anyone's sale purchases arrived yet? Any keepers?

I've ordered:

This jumpsuit from White Stuff. Had my eye on it before Christmas but couldn't justify full price. It arrived today and it's perfect, really comfortable and surprisingly flattering for what is effectively an adult onesie Grin

This top from Fatface, again had my eye on it before the sale - now half-price

And then I thought to hell with it and chucked this velvet jumpsuit in my basket as well, cos it's free delivery and returns Grin

AND then the coat of my dreams from Hush - this was in their winter 2019 collection and I loved it, but couldn't justify the cost, so waited for it to appear in the sale - which it never did! So I looked in the current sale and there it was: only one size left - mine Shock I ordered it and it appears I bought the very last one as it's now entirely out of stock ...

I've had this coat on my mind since last year so I really hope I actually like it in the flesh ...

To add to my Wolf & Badger purchases, I’ve now also bought some stuff in the Anthropologie sale inc a Maeve dress reduced from £130 to £26 and a Navy Pilcro corduroy mini skirt that was 50% off.

You lot are a bad influence! Still haven’t found the actual things I need - pyjamas and a new dressing gown!

CaveMum · 28/12/2020 15:38

Links might help

Maeve dress: www.anthropologie.com/en-gb/shop/mairead-midi-dress

Pilcro skirt: www.anthropologie.com/en-gb/shop/pilcro-talia-corduroy-mini-skirt (would have got it in raspberry but my size was sold out)

Karcheer · 28/12/2020 15:40

I just got 2 x PJs from Victoria Secret.

1forAll74 · 28/12/2020 18:40

I have only ordered some sale priced emulsion paint, some woodstain and varnish, and some sandpaper, so don't suppose this counts as exciting sales shopping haha.

Karcheer · 28/12/2020 21:15

Just ordered some new towels from the white company.

NeedWineNow · 28/12/2020 22:17

My Benefit set arrived - it is excellent - Bad Gal mascara ( full size and mini), brow pencil ( full size) and Gimme Brow ( full size) all in a see through makeup bag. RRP was £34.50, I got it for £23. Value of products around £79 so I am well pleased.

Waiting for Cos and John Lewis orders.

Ponks · 28/12/2020 22:51

@JuneFromBethesda that Hush coat is gorgeous, I saw it had come in to the sale and dithered (like you, I saw it last year and loved the look of it), by the time I decided to go for it, it was out of stock - must have been you!

Meanwhile have ordered 2 coats in the John Lewis sale, both own brand and hugely discounted. Plus a dress, trainers and some hiking style boots. Great thing about buying from John Lewis is that if they reduce the price further they will refund you the difference (if you ask).

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/12/2020 23:12

I got a lovely alpaca knit in the &OtherStories sale preview - Black with a turtleneck. I wore it on Christmas Day with a gold sequinned midi skirt.

Otherwise I am waiting for payday on Wednesday!

JaceLancs · 28/12/2020 23:40

Jadore perfume set from Debenhams
I am looking for black knee length mid heel leather boots - must have pointed toes
Also a grey sweater dress and and bargain cashmere

MrDarcysMa · 29/12/2020 00:21

I bought the super long boiled wool coating an from cos, love it!

User9574 · 29/12/2020 01:37

I bought from White Stuff:

Teal and purple jumpers, like them both, the purple is muted and I ummed but it is enough to catch the eye and slightly thicker than the teal.
Green teal cardigan which looks (I think) more expensive than it is. Gone back for a size up as it stretches over my chest.
Aqua teal cardigan, fab for Summer
Cream jumper- returning, DM said it was a walking the dog jumper, which is fine but not what I wanted, the oatmeal colour doesn't do a lot for me. I am tempted by their cream cable knit but also quite like a funnel zip style so may hold out although the cable knit does seem cosy.
Mid length necklace for the jumpers
Pink glittery dolman style jumper, super fine and quite pretty, flattering style, the pink is nice, not a huge fan of metallic and it does have some polyester but I will wear it and it goes for all seasons
White shirts - returning, DM said they were like I used to wear, whatever that means, and I don't think they did a lot- quest for perfect semi structured white shirt continues
Aqua teal v vest- returning, surprisingly heavy and good fit which is nice, not sure what was missing, I think it needs some more movement or texture to the fabric

Also vests and cotton tops from Next, all of which am returning apart from a couple of vests. Think I'm going to hold out for a long sleeved merino layer and a really good white tee from Cos or Jigsaw. Also some F&F jeans in Next, grey skinnies, which are so soft, still unsure but may return.

Ordered and waiting for boyfriend jeans from M&S, some slim crop black trousers from Gap which I am hopeful about for work, Sailor style trousers from Boden more than half price which had great reviews, black Boden dress for work, hiking style boots from Jones, which have changed my mind on a bit, some adidas trainers from Ebay, some brown leather dye to refresh a pair of George leather knee boots, I never loved the tan and not sure why I didn't think earlier to dye them, if it works then not sure I need the Jones ones.

Phew that seems a lot. Not shopped in about 3 years and will only shop once or twice a year. Bloody lockdown and my idea of the wardrobe I am trying to create changed half way through.

Procrastatron · 29/12/2020 09:17

@SweetPetrichor I think you win the award for most eclectic taste!

@smeerf that dress is beautiful, I can see why you grabbed it when it was on offer. Good luck with the shoes hunt now!

Some oils from Aromatherapy Associates.

I'm still dithering over the Seasalt boots. Love them but really don't need them, and can't find any nice jumper dresses to wear with them.

Seen a couple of things in Boden which I might order for work - Jersey dresses and black trousers.

desperatehousewife21 · 29/12/2020 09:57

I’m reeeeeally trying to restrain myself from buying anything else. My wardrobe is groaning and it needs a good sort through actually. Gym wear will be going in the loft Grin

My main focus this year is to decorate the whole house (new build so complete blank canvas) so all spare money will now be going on that.

drspouse · 29/12/2020 10:54

I have ordered a load from Thought, mainly jumpers, will try not to keep more than I need!
Still looking for DS, it may be an eBay job as he needs quite a few.

Procrastatron · 29/12/2020 11:07

@desperatehousewife21 we have spent the last year doing this. The free farrow and ball colour card is your friend. There aren’t too many colours so you don’t become overwhelmed and then the website gives you really interesting three colour combos that you wouldn’t necessarily think of. I use the colour card to match fabrics and carpets (by eye) and find paint inspiration. Don’t always buy actual farrow and ball paint unless I’m going for something particularly bold.
