Can I still wear bodycon? Brutally honest answers please.

Have attached photos. I am a slim (size 8) hourglass. However I am also 45 and have given birth to 3 children. My stomach has a slight curve even with control panels in my tights or underwear.

Can I still wear bodycon? On a good day I think I can. On a bad day I worry I'm kidding myself. My friends won't tell me the truth.

People with lumps and bumps can still where body cons. Anyone can! If you feel comfortable then go for it. I'm 28 and you have a MUCH better figure then me! You look great

Wales34 · 09/11/2020 14:39

You look lovely . You don't need to be so insecure ,

LindaEllen · 09/11/2020 14:40

Oh god yes. If I looked that good I'd be wearing that kind of thing as much as possible!!

SoulofanAggron · 09/11/2020 14:41

I think it looks pretty good.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 09/11/2020 14:42

You look great, OP. I like the dress too - it's my kind of style except I don't look slim like you any more!

CloudyVanilla · 09/11/2020 14:43

You look fantastic, can definitely wear bodycon.

HOWEVER. The length of that dress - I personally don't think it's a very flattering length. I dont know if it's the angle but it makes your legs look shorter than I think they are in real life

readytostand22 · 09/11/2020 14:43

You look amazing and the dress does nothing but accentuate your gorgeous bod!

SugarCoatIt · 09/11/2020 14:43

Can you wear bodycon?

I think with that figure, you can wear anything darling!

You look FABulous OP!

Jroseforever · 09/11/2020 14:43

Nice figure
But no.

And more to the point, why would you want to?

grassisjeweled · 09/11/2020 14:44

Yup do it

Whysrumgone · 09/11/2020 14:46

@bridgetreilly

Wear whatever you like, ffs.
I find the only people who posts these sort of things are the ones who know they look absolutely fine. It’s less ‘do I look ok in this’ and more ‘everyone please tell me how amazing they think I am’ 🙄
Poppingnostopping · 09/11/2020 14:46

If I were a size 8, I would permanently look like Gillian Anderson in The Fall...

I don't think she would wear this dress, and even though it looks ok, I don't think you should either, it's an odd and heavy/dark look with the boots, not really very sexy at all (which surely bodycon should be nodding towards at the very least).

ChippyPickledEggs · 09/11/2020 14:47

That's not true, Whysrumgone

3 kids?! You'd get away with that if you had no kids and you were 15 years younger.

Whoooootaminute · 09/11/2020 14:48

Of course you can wear it. Your figure is fine for a dress like that.

Are the buttons functional ? That would be the one thing that would possibly make the dress look too tight. If you sit down do the buttons gape? I never ever ever buy dresses or skirts which button up the front as even if you're superslim and toned- a gaping button hole just makes the clothing look overstuffed.

StormBaby · 09/11/2020 14:48

I’m over 40 and a size 18 and wear body con dresses. Of course you can

SingleHandSue · 09/11/2020 14:48

Amazing figure! You look stunning.

But that dress? Charity shop it, it’s bogging.

christinarossetti19 · 09/11/2020 14:49

Yes of course you can wear it - it looks great on you.

But why would you want to wear anything without pockets for work? < misses point of thread>.

SirVixofVixHall · 09/11/2020 14:52

Well if you can’t, who can ?
You are a lovely shape. I had a similar slender frame, but since my second c-section and an underactive thyroid I am much too tubby , and my tummy too shelfy for bodycon.

ChippyPickledEggs · 09/11/2020 14:53

SingleHandSue Grin I've not heard bogging in a while.

No, whoever asked. The buttons are not functional so no gape.

It's interesting what people are saying about the dress. To be honest I wasn't 100% sure about it. Slash/boat necks and crew necks tend to suit me better than v-necks and I worried about the gold buttons looking a bit tacky. But Karen Millen were having an online sale and prices were slashed so... I took a punt.

I personally wouldn't wear bodycon, there are loads of far more flattering styles around. You're slim, you can have your pick of clothing. Why choose something that accentuates your belly and thighs?

SmileyClare · 09/11/2020 14:56

I'm the same age as you, with kids, same size and wear tight fitted clothes. 45 isn't old at all!

Potential problem: It looks like you might not be able to walk in that without taking little baby steps like a pigeon.

I think you'd look great in a shorter clingy jumper dress with thick tights. Smile

Lorw · 09/11/2020 14:57

I’m a size 22 with a tummy and I rock bodycon dresses, please have the confidence to wear anything you love Flowers

Btw, you look fab! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise Grin

Biglumpycustard · 09/11/2020 15:03

I think you look great.

Dillo10 · 09/11/2020 15:04

I would size up in that dress PURELY because that's the style of this particular trend. Otherwise you look great.
