Can I still wear bodycon? Brutally honest answers please.

Have attached photos. I am a slim (size 8) hourglass. However I am also 45 and have given birth to 3 children. My stomach has a slight curve even with control panels in my tights or underwear.

Can I still wear bodycon? On a good day I think I can. On a bad day I worry I'm kidding myself. My friends won't tell me the truth.

She asked in the title and in her post if she could wear bodycon. Actually no where in her post did she specify THIS dress.

Exactly - the OP can wear bodycon for sure.

But she can do infinitely better than that dress.

Janegrey333 · 09/11/2020 23:00

Wobbly step?!

WorraLiberty · 09/11/2020 23:34

Don't be silly. There are no wobbly steps Confused

Janegrey333 · 10/11/2020 00:06

See also the left hand side of the step behind her. A rat appears to have gnawed the carpet or the wood - in a geometric shape!

CharityDingle · 10/11/2020 00:08

@BrassicaBabe

GrinBought the same dress in red. Had the same thoughts as you. I'm 47 and size 10. Took this pic to send to my sister saying the same as you a fortnight ago . (I've had a CS. You can see the "join". Well, I can). Dress now in wardrobe but I'm still not sure. And no fecking place to wear if as WFH

You look fab OP.

Fab on you!

Bwlch · 10/11/2020 00:18

Name change is more likely. I can't see any wobbly steps or gnawed geometric shapes..

PerfidiousAlbion · 10/11/2020 01:07

You have an excellent figure but the dress isnt the best, plus bodycon isnt in at the moment.

Coconut2010 · 10/11/2020 07:10

The dress is categorically too small for you. In the first picture you have to stand joining your feet together and yet the dress is very tight but that’s not how you would stand in reality, and you would be moving obviously. Bodicon is not the problem if you can pull it off (I actually have a few very flattering bodicon dresses) but in this case I would size up as honestly it doesn’t look “classy” as it is now and there is no way this could be worn at work as it is (and again I have no problem with that as I do wear these dresses at work sometimes).

Coconut2010 · 10/11/2020 07:12

Actually I have just seen the picture of the PP above with the same stress!in red. She has a similar figure to yours but is wearing a size 10, it’s much more flattering and I can see her wearing it at work.

isthismylifenow · 10/11/2020 07:20

I agree with the others OP. To answer your question, yes you can wear a bodycon dress, but this dress is a bit too small.

ChippyPickledEggs · 10/11/2020 08:04

Eh Brassica - you look lush in that! Love the red colour too. Smile Seeing your picture has increased my confidence too because, well, we look quite similar don't we.

I really appreciate everyone's contributions. I was having a bit of a crisis and I needed the kind of honesty you can't always rely on from friends who just want you to feel good about yourself. It's an almost 100% yay for still being able to wear bodycon so I'm pleased I'm posted!

I hear you all about the dress. I wasn't sure myself. But I'll have to make my own decision about that. I've had a look at Karen Millen's size guide and it definitely isn't too small. It comes in sizes XS, S, M, and L. I bought it in a small, which covers size 8 - 10. If I sized up to a medium it would be size 12 - 14 which would be much too big for me. I'm a size 6 in shops like Gap that size very generously. I have a small waist with curvy hips and a generous arse - I just fill things out in that area.

Janegrey333 the photo isn't tweaked (photoshopped do you mean?) It was a quick, artless snap taken in a (grubby Grin) mirror for the purpose of getting honest opinions.

The size looks fine to me.

wallyb · 10/11/2020 08:14

I like the dress on @BrassicaBabe. maybe it's the colour or the angle. OP do you have any pics?

ittooshallpass · 10/11/2020 09:21

The dress looks better on @BrassicaBabe as she has a better size dress. OP you can certainly wear body con but it's much more flattering when it's not quite so tight.

Bwlch · 10/11/2020 09:27

I thought the point of bodycon was that it is tight and figure hugging.

It's not baggycon.

JoeCalFuckingZaghe · 10/11/2020 09:29

I think that’s the problem when sizes are grouped together like this. It’s going to be too tight / too big on most people as it’s covering 2 sizes rather than 1. How tall are you? It looks like it comes to just below the models knee but a lot lower on you, so it could be the length that’s making it look not quite right.

I have a small waist with curvy hips and a generous arse - I just fill things out in that area.
Yes you do and you can bloody WERK it in body con, just the right one haha!

ChippyPickledEggs · 10/11/2020 09:41

I'm 5,4. Bang on average.

Just make your point instead of the little cryptic comments. Or are you trying to troll hunt (unsuccessfully) Smile

Janegrey333 · 10/11/2020 17:08

I leave that to the experts on another site...

unicornparty · 10/11/2020 17:11

I'm not sure the length is right. Your body looks really long and your legs look really really short.

33goingon64 · 10/11/2020 17:23

It's so depressing how women question whether they're good enough for x, y or z. Wear what you like!

YoniAndGuy · 10/11/2020 17:46

Your figure is lovely but yes, the dress is dated and ages you. It's the buttons!
