Can I still wear bodycon? Brutally honest answers please.

Have attached photos. I am a slim (size 8) hourglass. However I am also 45 and have given birth to 3 children. My stomach has a slight curve even with control panels in my tights or underwear.

Can I still wear bodycon? On a good day I think I can. On a bad day I worry I'm kidding myself. My friends won't tell me the truth.

Yes , great figure for bodycon dresses, and great for the job you have.

LilacPebbles · 09/11/2020 13:42

Most definitely. That curve at the bottom of the stomach is normal. You look great!

Aparttogether · 09/11/2020 13:43

You look great.

The only thing I’d say is that I read on one of the style and beauty threads recently that bodycon styles are dated now and oversized is on trend. Not sure if that bothers you but it made me think about what I wear as I am small and prefer close fitting clothes but I am obviously behind the times.

ChippyPickledEggs · 09/11/2020 13:43

Laughing out loud at the comments regarding my dirty mirror - I am a slattern to be sure Grin

Why won't my friends tell me the truth, Fatted? Because they love me and wouldn't want me to feel bad. And they look at me through rose tinted glasses maybe? As for why I put the post up - I really did want brutal honestly and thought Mumsnet was the best place to get it.

You look amazing. Absolutely fail to see how the dress 'does nothing for you'. It looks just the thing for the work you describe - I really like it and you look great in it.

Floisme · 09/11/2020 13:44

As I read it, the op is asking for opinions, nothing more, nothing less.

I think you have a lovely shape and I really envy your waist. The dress looks like it's pulling at the crotch though so I would try sizing up.

Livingmagicallyagain · 09/11/2020 13:45

Absolutely! Stunning figure, dress looks like it fits perfectly.

ChippyPickledEggs · 09/11/2020 13:45

TheOrigRights my arse is my best bit. Not worried on that score Grin

Sorry I hadn't refreshed the page so the first part of my post was a cross post from way back.

Crystal87 · 09/11/2020 13:48

You have a great figure and a beautiful waist so a definite yes from me.

Bumwart21 · 09/11/2020 13:52

Yes you can you have a lovely figure and the dress looks great on you :) and we all know bodycon dresses stick like glue and show off every part of you every wobble etc but u havent got any of that you look great suits your slim long shape x

ChippyPickledEggs · 09/11/2020 13:57

Thank you everybody, these replies mean a lot. You're strangers, you don't have to be kind, and I was having a bit of a confidence crisis.

My style hasn't changed much over the years and in my mid forties I was starting to worry if I could still get away with it.

TheDogsMother · 09/11/2020 13:58

Hell yes !

UpToonGirl · 09/11/2020 14:02

You look great but it depends how comfortable you feel. I might feel confident putting that dress on first thing in the morning but after food/masses of tea, period bloat etc I might feel less confident as the day goes on.

Ideasplease322 · 09/11/2020 14:06

You have an amazing figure, but that dress is too tIght.

You can absolutely wear body on - just not that one.

BigButtons · 09/11/2020 14:07

I think it looks great on you. If you have the figure. If you feel it looks good then wear it, doesn't matter how old you are.

minipie · 09/11/2020 14:07

It looks lovely OP

However - I don’t know how much you are making an effort in the photos to stand up extra straight, hold in tummy etc. If you are, then bear in mind it won’t look the same in a more unconscious moment or as a pp says just after a meal.

Eckhart · 09/11/2020 14:07

I was having a bit of a confidence crisis

Nope, totally unnecessary. You look great.

wildraisins · 09/11/2020 14:07

You can wear what you want. As can everyone.

pastandpresent · 09/11/2020 14:07

I think you have a beautiful figure. So definitely yes.

OverTheRubicon · 09/11/2020 14:08

You have a great figure, but I think the dress style is quite ageing, especially with the boots. Even Victoria Beckham is moving towards slouchier fits - I'd mix it with an oversized jacket at least or some chunky-soled flat boots / trainers.

Playingchesswithpigeons · 09/11/2020 14:10

Yes, you can certainly still wear bodycon. I unfortunately, havn't been slim enough for around 20 years !

tinatree · 09/11/2020 14:12

Yes if you feel comfortable op!
I'm very slim but also have 3DC so tend to feel a little self conscious of my stomach in bodycon dresses now (even though most people would say I look great).

CatMotherQueen · 09/11/2020 14:12

You look gorgeous! My bodycon trick is to buy one or two sizes up. Because they're stretchy, they still look bodycon, but skim over any areas I don't like :-)

PumpkinCheater · 09/11/2020 14:12

I would say yes, you have a good figure for bodycon and would definitely look good in it.

However, if you're asking that question then it sounds as though you might not feel totally comfortable or confident wearing bodycon. So if that's the case then you might want to avoid it purely for psychological reasons (there's nothing more awkward than an outfit you keep rearranging and picking at because you're worried it might be unflattering).

Otherwise I think you should go for it!
