Can I still wear bodycon? Brutally honest answers please.

Have attached photos. I am a slim (size 8) hourglass. However I am also 45 and have given birth to 3 children. My stomach has a slight curve even with control panels in my tights or underwear.

Can I still wear bodycon? On a good day I think I can. On a bad day I worry I'm kidding myself. My friends won't tell me the truth.

40s is the new 20s. I see more and more older women looking fabulous. You look great and although the dress isn't my taste, it looks suitable for front of house work as long as it is comfortable and your figure is amazing.

Women at my work often ask each other what they thinks of their clothes/make up, so you could ask a women at work if they think the dress is ok

MoltonSilver · 09/11/2020 14:17

You can, but why would you want to?

ChippyPickledEggs · 09/11/2020 14:18

I feel good/attractive in it Molton. On a good day.

Your figure/body is to die for, you really are in great shape & look fab.

BUT bodycon is dated now in the Fashion world (think Vic Beckham 10 years ago..)

If you like the dress & feel confident & comfortable in it, that is all that matters.

If you are asking from a fashion point of view, you would look great in skinny jeans, a fitted black blouse tucked in & knee high boots - this would equally show off your figure but in a more up to date way & smart-casual way :-)

gluteustothemaximus · 09/11/2020 14:20

I have terrible self confidence after 3 children.

You look amazing.

TheOrigRights · 09/11/2020 14:21

@ChippyPickledEggs

TheOrigRights my arse is my best bit. Not worried on that score Grin
Oh my arse is fine as well, I just wouldn't want to attract attention to it.
Silentplikebath · 09/11/2020 14:22

I think you look fantastic! I agree with the pp who suggests sizing up. The dress will still be clinging to you but you’d find moving or sitting easier in the bigger size.

Userzzz · 09/11/2020 14:22

Yes you can !! Love the dress. Good on you for keeping your figure so great after 3 kids, show that off.

SionnachRua · 09/11/2020 14:22

You have a great figure, no reason to stop wearing bodycon if you don't want to. However I'm another one saying no to the dress, I think you are doing more for it than it's doing for you iyswim.

Ihaveyourback · 09/11/2020 14:22

If I can be honest I think any body con dress looks very old fashioned and dated now, even on the very young and beautiful. It screams desperate to me.

Personally I would rock some tight jeans, a silk blouse tucked in and some killer shoes - as you definitely can carry it off.

I would swerve tight dresses as it looks too try hard personally, and women generally look very self conscious and awkward in them.

Sorry but skinny jeans and knee high boots is not an up to date look at all!! It’s very 2010!

FAQs · 09/11/2020 14:24

Your figure is amazing! I don’t think the dress is smart enough for your job role though.

Bluejewel · 09/11/2020 14:25

You have a good figure and can get away with that dress but I don’t think it’s suitable for ‘posh’ reception work to be honest sorry

ApplestheHare · 09/11/2020 14:25

You look great and have a figure to die for. I'm 35 and hope to have a figure like yours at 45🤞

Ihaveyourback · 09/11/2020 14:25

Also a silk halterneck would look good, cut well, slim fitting and highlighting your shape, but in an elegant and refined way.

CaraDuneRedux · 09/11/2020 14:27

@GameSetMatch

Yes you can wear a bodycon you look great, your mirrors need a wipe though, it’s my pet hate dirty mirrors 😬
Well the OP did ask for brutal honesty Grin She just maybe wasn't expecting it about her housekeeping. (If it's any consolation, OP, I subscribe to the Quentin Crisp school of housekeeping: after 2 years, the dust doesn't get any thicker).

Anyway, the dress looks great, and I don't think I had a figure like that at age 25 (was slim but v. straight up and down).

Saladfingersscaresme · 09/11/2020 14:27

You look fab! Lovely figure, I’m a year younger than you and can wear bodycon with confidence 3 weeks of the month, week before period I look 5 months pregnant Confused

WitsEnding · 09/11/2020 14:28

You can wear whatever you like and there’s nothing wrong with your stomach. Personally I think bodycon looks better on heavier people (than you and me).

YoniAndGuy · 09/11/2020 14:30

You have a fab figure and can wear anything. Personally, I don't like bodycon on anyone and it seems v dated now but that's a different Q!

bridgetreilly · 09/11/2020 14:30

Wear whatever you like, ffs.

Ihaveyourback · 09/11/2020 14:30

When are you planning to wear the dress anyway? I can't see any point in the future when we will be able to wear lovely dresses....

LockdownBannedMyUsername · 09/11/2020 14:31

Yes!!!

ClementineWoolysocks · 09/11/2020 14:33

Your figure is fine but that dress with those boots is not a good look on anyone.

Branleuse · 09/11/2020 14:33

I think it looks fab, but if it was me, id say it was half a size too tight, but then I prefer things fitted but not clinging. You have a lovely figure though

MacbookHo · 09/11/2020 14:33

You look amazing from the front, but the dress is very clingy on your thighs. I think it’d be a better in the next size up.
