Can I still wear bodycon? Brutally honest answers please.

Have attached photos. I am a slim (size 8) hourglass. However I am also 45 and have given birth to 3 children. My stomach has a slight curve even with control panels in my tights or underwear.

Can I still wear bodycon? On a good day I think I can. On a bad day I worry I'm kidding myself. My friends won't tell me the truth.

I think you can defintely get away with it but feel the dress is a little dated to be honest. It also pulls a bit round your lower hips and side on makes it look like you may have control under wear on, which is never a good thing to signal, it could just be your tights.

I’m fifty one and wear very fitted clothes but wouldn’t wear that dress as feel it’s quite old fashioned now, I think you can show off your figure in a much more flattering and modern way.

Is the dress quite old? As in quite a few years now?

newstart1234 · 09/11/2020 15:44

Yes yes yes

ChippyPickledEggs · 09/11/2020 15:44

No the dress is new.

I'm not wearing control underwear in the picture - just tights underneath the dress.

Wish I looked like this.. I have one child! You look amazing honestly!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 09/11/2020 15:47

FYI Karen Millen are now owned by Boohoo which is why they are having constant sales (see also Coast, Warehouse, Oasis). Just pointing that out as I think people would prefer to know due to the terrible ethical record of Boohoo.

Bodycon is back in this season but in a more flowing, knit sense. It's miles more on trend than skinny jeans and knee high boots though! I think the dress is fine for work. I totally get where you are coming from with the insecurity. No matter your shape and size, it's easy to carry on dressing as you always have done and then worry that you are making a mistake. Hope this thread has reassured you that you can definitely pull it off :)

fantasmasgoria1 · 09/11/2020 15:47

Definitely yes! You are very slim!

Time2change2 · 09/11/2020 15:49

Yes you look fine in that - your figure is lovely. However as a PP said I do t think it does much for you- it obviously shows off your body but IMO with that figure there would be much more flattering dresses

WorraLiberty · 09/11/2020 15:50

That style of dress is a classic and never goes in or out of fashion.

LuckyAmy1986 · 09/11/2020 15:50

I don't love the dress but you definitley have a figure that can pull of bodycon. You look great.

Covidasaurus · 09/11/2020 15:50

You are gorgeous and foxy and ignore anyone who clutches their pearls and mutters about “last season” or “size larger” it’s MN passive-aggression

HosannainExcelSheets · 09/11/2020 15:50

How does that dress make you feel? If you like it and you feel happy, the wear it! I actually have no idea what bodycon is, or why your age should dictate your clothing choices.

TheBeastInMsRooneysRoom · 09/11/2020 15:50

You can definitely wear bodycon. You look awesome.

If you’re worried about the postpartum curve one without a seam down the front will be more forgiving from the side (you’re adding a line to follow the curve) but honestly, you look great. My only thought seeing you at front of house would be “great style, great body”.

If you told me you had 3 kids I’d be really surprised and assume you had them very young. I had 3 in my 20s and still ended up having a tummy tuck at 33. I couldn’t wear bodycon - I’m too bulky between tummy and boobs. Enjoy the dress!

Bitchysideisouttoplay · 09/11/2020 15:51

Yes definitely, wish I could pull that off after 2 kids, so brilliant you can after 3.

Bluntness100 · 09/11/2020 15:52

@ChippyPickledEggs

No the dress is new.
I’m surprised it looks like an old style from her and doesn’t appear on their website, but maybe I missed it.

I just think you can do body con in a more modern way but maybe our tastes differ. To answer the question yes you can defo get away with it, 😃

Bluntness100 · 09/11/2020 15:53

Oh I see it

What about this one, ?

ChippyPickledEggs · 09/11/2020 15:54

Oh gosh BlairWaldorfLovesShopping I didn't know that - thanks for the heads up. I was reading recently about garment workers in Leicester forced to work over the lockdown for below minimum wage to supply companies like Boohoo and I was appalled!

i dont think people are being pass- agg. i think its just their own opinion.

Yes I like that one, Bluntness Smile

I love the dress! And you look like a twenty year old. You can absolutely rock anything you like.

MacbookHo · 09/11/2020 16:05

I mentioned getting a larger size and wasn’t being passive aggressive. I think this one looks too tight on the legs from the side.

HotMessMama · 09/11/2020 16:05

Envy Envy Envy
I wish I had your figure! Of course you can wear it, if you’ve got it flaunt it! x

Dinosaur19 · 09/11/2020 16:07

You have an amazing figure! Wear what the hell you like Grin

That one is fabulous, much more modern and stylish. Love the boots as well.

BigBadBox · 09/11/2020 16:17

Great figure. The dress Bluntness posted is much nicer, and I agree a size up would look better.
