Beauty Advent Calendars 2020

After a weird year, who is thinking about treating themselves? Can’t believe how quickly this has come round!

Nothing is out yet but some places are keeping waiting lists for notifications e.g. Cult Beauty. The John Lewis sneak peak looks promising. And I believe Body Shop is out the end of this month.

Any you will be looking out for? I’m thinking of splurging on a decent one this year — I had serious envy over Cult Beauty last year. I’ve also become a huge SpaceNK fan this year so I’ll have my eye out to see what they’re producing.

My big surprise hit last year was Holland and Barrett — super cheap and some brilliant items. If it’s as good this year I might end up with that as a bonus.

Until last year, I'd only ever had the M&S calendar, which was great the first year, then a bit samey and disappointing the next 2 years.

So last year I took the plunge and bought the space NK calendar, and the Christmas GWP with it.

They were fab! and I will definitely be going for one of the "luxury" calendar again - just trying to decide which one. For me personally it's all about skincare, as I don't wear much makeup, so I try to avoid calendars with too much of that.

@Writersblock2 it was - although it came out much later than the calendar, maybe late Nov/early Dec.

I'd been dithering about whether I really wanted to spend that much on an advent calendar, so hadn't bought one when it first came out. But when I realised I could buy the calendar, add on a small extra and get the GWP thrown in - that really swung it for me I guess it was a bit lucky that they still had some advent calendars left in stock when the GWP came out, though - I don't know that I'd risk leaving it that late again!

Both cult beauty and Space NK look great.

Cult beauty GWP arrived friday, I used the hair mask already. I only purchased things I really want and there are few things that went straight in the bin form the GWP but I still think it's good - good size shower gel, full size hair mask, mini makeup brushes set, natasha denona palette and the reusable bamboo pads are interesting for me to try

What palette did you get @MotherofTerriers? It's 9 in my gwp, I think it's going to be good shades for me

I think last year's Space NK one was better, but that's only because I have tried a few things in this one already and didn't find them that exciting. I love the Anthology idea though...looks so pretty!

Last year was my first beauty advent calendar & I went for Look Fantastic. My sister got the M&S one. I LOVED opening it each day but unfortunately didn’t use all of it. My make up is pretty samey & I don’t like lots of hair products. I remember last year wishing I had the lush one. I love their bath bombs & shower gels so I can see me using everything. It’s just so expensive! I saw a PP say Lush is on their veto list - why is that?

Lush is definitely not one of the good value for money calendars but if I use everything... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Gets on soap box Lush employees stated that they would refuse to serve anyone in their shop who was 'transphobic'...ie. anyone who believes that men cannot become women. If a woman walked into the shop wearing a t shirt with the dictionary definition of woman she wouldn't be served. They have said this.

This is gross misogyny and I for one will never, ever bring myself to give my hard earned money to a company that hates me, disrespects me and reduces me to a feeling rather then the sexed human being I am. I feel the exact same about The Body Shop. These companies shit all over women then want our money?? I don't think so. They're not getting this woman's money, that's for sure.

I got bodyshop one because I have loads of make up and creams from last year's calendars. Most of the stuff I haven't even tried. This year I can give dd the stuff I don't want.

Lush would have been nice for dd but it's way too expensive.

I don't know what's going on these companies.

Yes, that's what I did last year.

But the favours GWP was released quite a bit after the advent calendar, so you would be gambling that they still had the calendars in stock this year.

Reallyree has just listed details of a Space NK GWP starting this Wednesday 2nd September, but advent calendar not due for release until October. Is there likely to be another GWP Before Christmas does anyone think?

Two years ago there was a free crackers GWP offer. I bought the advent and something else to get the crackers. It was a while after the Advent Calendar was released and they sold out quite quickly after that.

I got number 5 - quite metallic, too shiny for me but DD will like I think

Yes, Space Nk does christmas crackers offers around november. Worth checking out, they are usually good

Liberty GWP dropping tomorrow I think!

Hi is there a way to be on a wait list for the liberty one ? I had a look on the website but couldn’t see anything

Have you found you haven't used much make up this year due to lockdown?
I'm the opposite, experimenting more as a pick me up and loving it, couldn't arrive at the school gates in full make up or people would think something was wrong!!!

Oh and got the no7 one for a present two years ago. Didn't think I'd like it but the highlighter, lip crayons and mascara were fab! Every year I consider molten brown as a way to use up any vouchers but always chicken out!!!

I've had the M&S one the last 3 years and enjoyed it (plus I buy new pjs every year as the purchase!) but it is samey. Even more samey as I got the Formula calendar as well last year. And then bought the Debenhams one (which was good) and Birchbox too. Had forgotten I had so many! I do love a calendar...

However, this year I think I will try for quality rather than quantity. The Cult Beauty one does look amazing - surely that's not £900+ of products, though is it? Was tempted by the GWP, but actually have never bought from there - my skin care is mainly from all the past calendars and some Clarins thrown in.

I'm much more skin care than make up. Didn't wear any throughout lockdown and am now barely wearing anything. A lick of mascara - and I have about a million of those waiting to be used!

I’ve had the m&s a couple of times, benefit and glossy box - I like the m&s - it includes lots of brands not just theirs

I went a bit bonkers last year and got Liberty, Look Fantastic, M&S and Holland & Barratt.

Hands down winner was Holland & Barratt.

If anyone is after one for their DP the Mankind one was absolutely FANTASTIC!

@LEELULUMPKIN - dd18 got H&B too. It was great. I got Glossybox and debenhams. Debenham's was better (and cheaper) than Glossybox. I think H&B pipped debenhams though.

I've decided to get Lush as well as Liberty. It's the year for splurging on advent calendars! I'm very excited
