Beauty Advent Calendars 2020

After a weird year, who is thinking about treating themselves? Can’t believe how quickly this has come round!

Nothing is out yet but some places are keeping waiting lists for notifications e.g. Cult Beauty. The John Lewis sneak peak looks promising. And I believe Body Shop is out the end of this month.

Any you will be looking out for? I’m thinking of splurging on a decent one this year — I had serious envy over Cult Beauty last year. I’ve also become a huge SpaceNK fan this year so I’ll have my eye out to see what they’re producing.

My big surprise hit last year was Holland and Barrett — super cheap and some brilliant items. If it’s as good this year I might end up with that as a bonus.

Last year was the first time in five years that I didn't buy the Liberty September GWP. It didn't seem as good to me as the previous years.

@MotherofTerriers — good shout. The summer Liberty GWP was really nice. So maybe I’ll hold out and see what that’s like first. Cult Beauty GWP today. Tempted but I have sooo much stuff.

I really need to start using the stuff instead of packing it all in pretty boxes in my overstuffed bathroom

Lush pre-order just opened up. Really tempted.

The Cult Beaty calendar looks incredible. That's the one I'm going for! Worth over £900. Fingers crossed!!

Just saw the line up (is that the right term? I’m going for it anyway ) for the cult beauty calendar! It’s over on the reallyree site.
It looks amazing but slightly disappointed in the palette because I already have it. It came in one of the cult beauty starter kits. That being said it is a lovely palette and I’m sure it can be regifted very easily.
I think I’m going to try for that one as I can’t see any other calendar matching that for me. I do want to see what’s behind glossybox’s day 25 though. That’s usually something pretty spectacular.

It does look amazing but I too have the palette, and the Hourglass Ambient palette. I’m so torn!

Feel Unique and Glossybox - not for me

F&M, Harrods & Liberty and Selfridges - looking good but nothing that I really want to try and is in good size. This year I am looking at the content and thinking is there something in the advent that I actually have on my wish list or I would buy to see if there is value for me.

Cult beauty & Space Nk look great and are potentials for me as there are products I would buy out of pocket or I would love to try

Looking forward to more details about M&S, Elle, Net-a-porter.

I missed out on the M&S one last year, probably for the best if was a bit samey. I chose the L'occitane one and although I thought the quality was very good and I do love a rich hand cream I missed the makeup. Shower gels and an assortment of creams were great but I like to try new mascaras, lipsticks etc so will look for a calendar with more of a mix this year.

I’m really struggling to make a decision this year. It’s been shit so far what with the pandemic, my DM dying during lockdown and then my cat a couple of weeks after that. As a ‘pick me up’ I planned on having a ‘calendar splurge‘ this Christmas But now that the details are being released I can’t find any that I love.. I had Liberty in 2017 and 2018, then F&M last year. They were all lovely but the contents do seem very repetitive. The only ones appealing so far are Space nk and Lush. I have a drawer full of unused skincare from previous years though, so Lush would make more sense as I could use most of the stuff up on the day I open it, and I do love a nice bath. Other alternatives would be to wait for the Liberty GWP (I’m getting quite a collection of wash bags now haha) and get that along with the Holland and Barrett advent calendar so that I have something to open during December...........

Cult Beauty does look great this year. I have the palette already though. I would have preferred the Natasha Denona palette which has been in this week's CB GWP. I wish there was some perfume in it too. A Cult Beauty gift card like last year's would have been great as well. My insomnia cure at this time of the year is planning my ideal Beauty Advent Calendar. I'm usually asleep by the time I've decided on the fourth window.

I've just looked at the cult beauty calendar and now I'm swaying towards that as opposed to the liberty. Must admit I prefer the aesthetics of the liberty calendar which is missing the point entirely I know....

I keep swinging between CB and SpaceNK. Those are the only two that really appeal (thank goodness). My husband bought the Lush one for me last night but as a Christmas present.

both CB and Space NK look good. I would probably ask DH to get me CB as present and open it in January

I have some points to use in Space NK (always) and will likely get it when their christmas crackers come out!

Oooh I love these threads. I know deep down a beauty advent calendar is not for me, because I’m so choosy and would probably end up hating the contents but I LOVE the idea of them, and I love the threads when people are opening them and discussing the contents.

My cult beauty GWP just arrived. Will open it later as a reward for finishing the donkey load of work I have to do today
If I get the liberty GWP I probably won't go for the calendar as contents likely to be similar
Same with Space NK and their crackers (although they weren't as good last year)
So maybe F&M or Net a Porter or Harrods - the Harrods one sold very fast last year.

I've had both the Liberty GWP and Advent for three consecutive years and there were no duplicates.

Aww, I was trying to narrow my choice!

I usually get the L'Occitane one for my birthday (November) and love it. This year I also treated myself to the No. 7 one from Boots and loved it. Will define getting that one again

The Glossybox one looks good this year. It has a very nice palette.

I was a bit disappointed with liberty last year but it looks better this year. Tempted by F&M or the liberty GWP also.
Last year Liberty had nice toiletry bag sets too.

I don’t really like the Susanne Kaufmann bath stuff they always seem to put in the Liberty calendar.

The Harrods stuff is always so tiny. I remember in the thread last year a few of the posters didn't particularly enjoy it for that reason. Too many sample sizes.

I'm not getting Glossybox...had a nightmare time with the subscription box so not ever buying from there again. Plus not interested in make up.

I usually get the marks one but last year got the Birchbox one. I remember when reading the threads feeling disappointed thy at I hadn't gone for the M&S one again!
I can't afford a high end one and I get the look fantastic beauty box so don't know if I need something different this year 🤔

Also what is GWP please?
