Royal Style - I’m not qualified but you can’t cut me off when there’s a wedding dress to look at...

If someone else has already started one of these please direct me over. I’m not qualified to be the OP of these wonderful threads... but I typed the below and I will be heard Grin Wink

Neither the dress nor the tiara are my personal favourites.

But bloody hell it’s got class.

Granny’s dress and tiara turn it from ‘shameful secret wedding because daddy can’t be seen in public anymore’ to ‘intimate family occasion fully supported and loved by Grandmother, The Queen’. I think it’s a huge showing of support from the Queen to her granddaughter and that’s lovely.

Lovely pics, so joyful and agree They’ve turned it into a PR triumph when it could have been very different.

The flower arch is stunning as is the tiara. And her smile!

I love the idea and the ‘feel’ of the dress, in that sense it’s one of the most gorgeous wedding looks I’ve ever seen.

But I too can’t get on board with the false hem, I’m obviously a rare person who thinks it doesn’t work at all. I don’t mind the sleeves so much but I think the hem is not good.

Still, however much I dislike it and find it jarring, oddly enough it doesn’t take away from the fabulous overall look she’s got.

Very nice pics, really lovely bride and groom.

LadyEloise · 19/07/2020 10:15

Elbow length sleeves would have been better I think. I'm sure they would have tried many options.
How they all kept schtum - the families, friends, Royal staff, caterers, florists etc.
In this age of social media it's an incredible achievement.

AppleKatie · 19/07/2020 10:23

Love the pics of the three York weddings together. Eugenie’s look is my favourite on a personal level but Bea’s is right for her and the moment.

@JasperRising I wasn’t a fan of the Eug tiara (but liked the dress). With her dark hair I kept thinking ‘wonder woman!’

Maybe the puff was a nod to her mother’s wedding style.

Im so happy at how delighted we all are for her!

gingercat02 · 19/07/2020 10:37

What pretty photos. They both look delighted which is what a wedding should be all about. Love the flowers and the tiara, dress is special because of it's the Queens but it wouldn't be my choice.
Sounds like a great party later. Fake pub and darts 😂
Baby on the way by Christmas and wedding done and dusted before PA ends up in court in the U.S. well played Bea. need photos of Fergie and Eug
Thanks Katie you are of course worthy of OP and new threads 👍

They look so happy, it's lovely to see.
I love the dress, including the sleeves and hem.

I'd imagine the bottom was discoloured and too short. Replacing a good chuck is better than a few inches which would be a more obvious adjustment. The whole skirt part could have been replaced, but it would have butchered the original dress too much of the original for my liking.
I also like that the original straps had been kept, with just very delicate sleeves added. It's easy to return the dress to its original state.
Beautiful and interesting.

StopChelping · 19/07/2020 10:50

She looked radiant. She is loved. The flowers were stunning, I bet the inside of that beautiful church was a sight to behold.

Going through Granny’s dresses though....how fabulous! I love the tiara, I think it suits the dress and the fact that The Queen wore it on her big day adds an extra special meaning to it.

Wishing you all the happiness in the world Bea, you looked as pretty as a picture.

Lurkingforawhile · 19/07/2020 11:02

The smile says it all, as does the fact they didn't release official photos on the day so as not to overshadow Captain Tom. A bit of class.

KensalGreen · 19/07/2020 11:31

The picture of Beatrice peeping round the flower arch is stunning!

Great idea to repurpose a vintage dress - it’s got me thinking about the sheer amount of unused wedding dresses out there in the world.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 19/07/2020 11:43

Agree it was a PR triumph.

And love the idea of the Queen throwing open her wardrobe to Beatrice to take her pick.

TanyaLoves · 19/07/2020 11:45

I couldn't agree more! Totally beautiful!

Becles · 19/07/2020 12:34

Love the dress and coming round to the hem.

Not a fan of the sleeves, but as a nod to Anne of Green Gables I'm honouring the use of puff sleeves.

The tiara echoes the fabulous beading on the gown but it's not my favourite. Too spiky for my taste. HM's originally worn tiara would have been great (but probably wouldn't have stood out).

Eug and Fergie where are your outfits? I know it's all about the bride but I'm ready for the next outfits🤔

SenecaFallsRedux · 19/07/2020 12:47

Lovely look for Beatrice, and I really like the idea of the re-worked dress, especially because I did the same for my wedding dress. The tiara works with the embellishment on the dress, but it is not my favorite. Too tall and spiky for my taste.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 19/07/2020 12:57

There was a florist but the actual flowers apparently came from the Queen's estate. They are stunning.

Laiste · 19/07/2020 13:16

Bea seems to be interested in vintage/unique looks and i imagine she's had the idea of using one of her GM's old dresses for her wedding for ages and ages. Probably well before she found the groom. I mean you just sit would wouldn't you?! Grin

What fun to sit and watch through all the old footage of the Queen in all her loveliest dresses in order to chose a special one to revamp for your own wedding!

I don't dislike that tiara itself, but i find it a tiny bit jarring against the dress. The tiara is quite a stark design - basically a big tall sheet of diamonds - and i'm not sure it goes with such a romantic dress. That tiara would have looked absolutely stunning with a dress like Meghan's!

The flowers were gorgeous. I had a similar colour mix for my own wedding :)

I think the whole understated nature of this wedding is perfect and lovely and it's so refreshing not to have dozens of B listers and wanna be's gurning and flouncing around. There'll be the big celeb party in the end when they can, of course, but for the actual wedding itself it was all about what a wedding should be; just two happy people making promises with their closest family watching and wishing them well.

I'm fascinated to see what fergie wore and E. And who else was there, to be honest.

More pictures released on Instagram. Edo is wearing a wedding ring and looking at her with such love.

AppleKatie · 19/07/2020 14:05

Where on Instagram I can’t find them!

Beatrice really does look absolutely lovely. And they both look so happy.

queenofarles · 19/07/2020 14:34

I love it! Very well done Bea, the dress is just gorgeous . HM looks so happy seeing it worn by her gd. I really hope they just leave it as it is and forgo a big reception . it just looks so special this way.

fallfallfall · 19/07/2020 14:52

I’m struggling to find the new photos :(. Can someone post them please.

EvilPea · 19/07/2020 14:57

The new pictures are on the mirror website.
The dress looks beautiful in the new photos, the alterations look much better in the sunlight and the tiara follows the same line as the beading on the dress.

Thanks @evilpea lovely pics. The sleeves don’t do it for me, but what do I know!

Glamping pods, sofas, dart boards and a juke box all sounds great to me!

Thank you evilpea. Those photos are equally lovely. That dress certainly suits her figure well.
