Royal Style - I’m not qualified but you can’t cut me off when there’s a wedding dress to look at...

If someone else has already started one of these please direct me over. I’m not qualified to be the OP of these wonderful threads... but I typed the below and I will be heard Grin Wink

Neither the dress nor the tiara are my personal favourites.

But bloody hell it’s got class.

Granny’s dress and tiara turn it from ‘shameful secret wedding because daddy can’t be seen in public anymore’ to ‘intimate family occasion fully supported and loved by Grandmother, The Queen’. I think it’s a huge showing of support from the Queen to her granddaughter and that’s lovely.

The hem style that Beatrice has is very much in keeping with the style at that time.

More lovely photos.I have never liked big weddings, this one seems perfect for the couple themselves and the times.
I loved the flower arch , it framed the scene so well.
Would love to see Sarah and Eugenie’s outfits.

I suspect Eugenie will post some photos at some point!

Great choice not to wear a necklace. Just let the dress and tiara speak for themselves.

@StartupRepair

Great choice not to wear a necklace. Just let the dress and tiara speak for themselves.

I spent most of my viewing thinking her neck looked really bare, especially when compared with the stunners HM wore to Parliament or to the premiere.

Read your post and went back to look again (because I needed another excuse!) and @startupRepair you were right. It would have been soo overwhelming even if satisfied my magpie tendencies for shiny bling.

I agree, although it’s always nice to see the shinies, I think with the huge tiara, the veil, the sparkly bits on the dress and the puffy sleeves, a necklace would have been overkill. Having a bare neck just made her look young and fresh, imo 😊

Eugenie has posted on insta... but no new photos, only the ones we've seen already!

Agree regarding the bare neck - did the same for my own wedding, I had very sparkly capped sleeves so a necklace wound have been overkill. Plenty of sparkle between her tiara and dress!

Hello has possibly done a deal ???

Report
herecomesthsun · 20/07/2020 16:14

OK, so I wish them well and it's fab, and possibly quite inspirational to other people planning a lockdown wedding, that they made a lower key occasion so glam.

However, the involvement of Hello makes it all look a lot less regal and a lot more "Andrew-and-Sarah", unfortunately.

I can’t see that Hello has done a deal at all? Is that just a rumour or a guess or is there a link?

Report
itswinetime · 20/07/2020 18:55

Have we heard hello have done a deal or are we guessing?

I'd be very surprised if hello a) wanted to be involved in anything linked to PA at the moment b) if they were told before surely it wouldn't have been such a well kept secret? c) haven't realised an exclusively next week in hello already....or have they and I have missed it?

I think it's more likely that they don't have all the official photos back yet. Most people it takes weeks to get all the pictures back I think they have obviously rushed a selection of the bride and groom so they could release the official ones but the rest probably aren't edited ect yet.

I do wonder how many more pictures we will see... I hope we at least have one of bea and Eugenie but I'm starting to wonder possible reasons, 1) they didn't socially distance for the rest of the pictures and want to avoid criticism. 2) the rest of the photos have PA In them as the would be family groups and they don't want the backlash from that. 3) the other pictures have Wolfie (that is Edo's sons name isn't it) and they are trying to protect him.

I'd be very surprised if there was a hello deal for such a private event but it is the York's and I can see why people would think that of Fergie and Andrew.

The only place I’ve seen the Hello rumour is here- I agree sounds unlikely.

Charles and Camilla are looking summary and confident in Cornwall:

I just thought it might be in Hello.

I can’t see it, tbh - too much risk of it becoming a Prince Andrew fest. He’s just too toxic for the brand now.

I thought Bea was taller too, but apparently she’s the same height as the queen - 5ft 4. I thought she looked beautiful and really happy, but I would have liked the dress to be the tiniest bit longer, particularly at the front (doesn’t look too bad from the back).

Report
Horsemad · 20/07/2020 22:22

😲 The Queen looks way shorter than 5' 4". I saw her do a walkabout years ago and she was tiny.

I have enjoyed learning about how couture dresses are made with extra allowance for alterations. But I think what works so well with Beatrice's dress is that she's the same body type as the Queen. I don't think any alterations could be done well for body types like, for example, Kate (not enough boobage) or Meghan (too wide a waist). It was really just the right style for Beatrice.

I was also quite surprised about the tiara. On its own, it looks quite stark, almost industrial, but it's got a much softer look on Beatrice.

I had watched previous royal weddings (Kate's and Meghan's for example) but only in passing, and just for the frocks. But this was one wedding that I was really happy about. After all that's happened recently for Beatrice and Eugenie, it was just so lovely to see a happy bride and groom and a beautiful dress.

I met her last year she casually drops into the conversation and she was wearing completely flat footwear as had just fallen down the stairs

She isn't very tall.
She was completely lovely though. Smile

The flowers were harvested from the Windsor estate and gardens, at least to a great extent. So the florist must have loved to go wild.

It was the same for the other two Windsor weddings.

That tiara has lots of wedding history. Originally wedding present from Queen Victoria to (future) Queen Mary. Then given by QM to QE for her wedding (where the hairdresser snapped it and the standby jeweller had to do a bit of fast welding), then again on Princess Anne for her first wedding and now Beatrice. So lovely.

My wedding dress was slightly short at the front (as advised) so I could walk in it. The back had a long train and a shorter front means you don't have to gather it up to walk down the aisle

I thought she looked beautiful, the dress was so chic and the tiara is just gorgeous...

That flower arch is wonderful - I wonder how long it lasts and how much it cost. Anyone have any idea?

I'm actually also comparing photos of the veils. Do we think Beatrice got to recut the Queens wedding veil too? I think it is possible...they look very closely related.

As for picking a dress from "the archives". They probably had the tiara all planned, and then it was a question of finding the dress that

-complemented the tiara
-was the right shade of pale for Beatrice's colouring
-could be nicely adapted for an informal morning wedding

The queen was curvy with a small waist when younger and so is Beatrice, so they suit the same type of shilouette. The other younger ladies of the family are built differently. That said, if I were her granddaughter she'd have to chase me from her Hermes scarf "archives" with a gun (she has some beautiful really vintage oldies...)
