Royal Style - I’m not qualified but you can’t cut me off when there’s a wedding dress to look at...

If someone else has already started one of these please direct me over. I’m not qualified to be the OP of these wonderful threads... but I typed the below and I will be heard Grin Wink

Neither the dress nor the tiara are my personal favourites.

But bloody hell it’s got class.

Granny’s dress and tiara turn it from ‘shameful secret wedding because daddy can’t be seen in public anymore’ to ‘intimate family occasion fully supported and loved by Grandmother, The Queen’. I think it’s a huge showing of support from the Queen to her granddaughter and that’s lovely.

Don't worry, Boscois, I can't travel at all either! I'm just enjoying it all vicariously through Michael Palin programmes!

I've also been enjoying the Michael Palin programmes, though in some ways they make it worse, and really make me yearn to travel and have that excited feeling that going to a new place always brings. Sad

The PM of the Netherlands has now admitted that he was at fault for the timing of the Max & Wax trip to Greece! So all good there, we could have told them that Max could do no wrong! Grin Grin

I’m not keen on that portrait of Meg & Harry, it would be better if there were more interaction between them, him looking down at her or her up at him. But, for people who wanted a more private life, away from the public gaze, why do they even need an official portrait?

I quite like the H&M photo, it's perfectly fine and her hair looks pretty. But yes, this has been my confusion all along too - why release portraits of themselves?!

I have no idea why they released an "official portrait". There are new images of them every week, it does seem odd and somewhat pretentious. I don't really like the composition, I think it's strange but then I'm not very arty!

Does anyone (other than royalty obv) release ‘official pictures’ like this? Is there any kind of precedent they are following?

why do they even need an official portrait?

I think we should all have one. Smile

They did it in connection with the upcoming Time 100 program they are involved with. I don't think it's meant to be a official portrait in the usual RF understanding of that term.

Stylish Kate has buggered off again. The length of that red coat makes her look like Mary Poppins.

That red coat has such a 90s length. I used to have a really long Monsoon coat in the 90s that I'd wear over my maxi skirts. I'm 5 ft 4 and it would graze the back of my shoes ( my Mother hated it!) It seems an odd length for Kate to wear now.

Yes does look very Mary Poppins.
Now I've got 'A Spoonful of Sugar' singing in my head.

I don't know how a mere mortal would wear it given she is so tall and in heels.

Perhaps she's got the children under there. Brilliant way of shielding them from the paps.

Some of Kate's previous red coats and jackets.

It's a bit of a shame that Kate is wearing a new (overly long?) Alexander McQueen coat and a handbag that's nearly £2K (beautiful though it is), this is the ideal time for repeats. The coat very similar to the new navy one she wore in Swansea this February (with different buttons). Would love to see the dress underneath.

Is it definitely new? Could be a previous coat with new buttons/altered collar.
Or maybe she bought a job lot of the same coats but in different colours a while back?
I understand Kate has a dressmaker/seamstress or 2 who alter/amend her outfits for her.

Today's coat is new. On closer look, it isn't the same in a different colour. Both are long double breasted McQueen coats though. The navy McQueen from February reminds me a little of Kate's Hobbs Gianna coat.

There are some lovely bags on the website.
It's good that Kate wears/showcases British designers.

It must be very overwhelming to go from having a normal wardrobe of clothes to having to have a massive collection of outfits, when you go from ordinary person to a RF member.
I like clothes but sometimes I find the shopping experience a pain in the bum, especially when it comes to trying clothes on.

Love the bag, not as keen on the coat - think it's the length that's putting me off.

We will soon need another thread, this one's almost full! 😃
