Yeah, I'd suggest finding a cobbler although it isn't that difficult to do yourself. I looked into it once (Fiebing leather dye was recommended, alongside some other products) but it was about the same price to get done as it would be to get all the supplies. Just keep in mind that stitches often won't dye much (or wear away the colour over time) so it's best to keep it close to the original colour, so a burgundy or reddish brown. I'd be tempted to do a bit of gradiation, very dark brown at the nose and then faded out to a reddish brown chestnut as the main colour. But that'll probably cost extra 🙈 you can also Google for added shiny extras you can add to the toe or to wrap the heel and stuff to toughen them up (and spurs, obviously, but you probably don't want those). It's a whole industry.
In today's version of what I bought today, at the risk of going all single white female (not helped by the fact I'm wearing a pair of trousers that Elle also owns🤦) I've snapped up Matey Margaret's pirate shirt in the Uniqlo shop which is now full of internet returns and I could try other things they didn't have before. Tried it on in blue and white (well not really white it's a difficult colour to name), both not my size but it's extreme oversizedness probably works better for me than my actual size would. Have attached it in blue since you've already seen the white on Elle, but I got it in white as that felt more versatile (I have an Erdem X H&M jumper in this colour and it's weirdly difficult to pair with neutrals, it needs other brights so doesn't get much wear).
Also tried on a navy wool jumper that I had ruled out thinking it wouldn't be the most flattering with the horizontal stripes (I was right) and the white tuxedo shirt (nice on the hanger but it turned me into a pudgy little man that skills around free classic music performances drinking all the red wine when he thinks no one is looking
).
