Loving the cult leader, megalomaniac cape, bo. I have a black, Liberty's wool cape, but it's too cold to wear it outside atm.

I love the pirate vibe too! I think open is the only way to wear those blouses, I have a secondhand, navy, Joseph one, also very oversized. I might have to wait until lock down stops and going out restarts, though.

Good luck with the jumper, red, I hope it works.

botemp · 27/11/2020 17:10

Well the ultra high waisted came up and over my ribs Shock and this is just another reminder for me to stay away from Northern European brands. Sigh. I highly suspected this would be the case but curiosity and all that.

These don't look as bad but the crotch is sitting far too low and it's created a horizontal fold and overemphasising the fact I'm really bloated right now, unbloated it would probably be weirdly baggy. So these are going back too.

Otherwise they're nicely made, (in China, I had been curious about that) fully lined all the way to the hem (polyester) but for me the tailoring does feel too much like male tailoring ideas projected into what they think women would appreciate and have taken out the sharper male tailoring qualities and forgotten some fundamental women's fit things (all the tailoring with darts is at the back which fits great but the front is too plain and doesn't have a comparable tailored fit, it's like they just took the crotch allowance out 🤷).

I dunno, it feels kind of late 90s early 00s workwear. It's all very proper and obedient (and I feel women's workwear now is much more pronounced and assertive) and it's very much workwear, couldn't anticipate wearing it anywhere else and that does limit them somewhat. But good for solid workwear if the front fit is right for you.

Also, I would say for the price you're getting a lot in terms of construction and materials (I would have preferred viscose or acetate as a lining but it's not cheap polyester either). They're not cheap finishes or details and they're well made, that the design isn't as exciting/in line probably is less of an issue in darker/less statement colours.

Reading along, and watching with interest.

banivani · 27/11/2020 20:28

Hm then it’s possible that the trousers would fit me better since I def have a more Northern European body (solid bones what). But I’m worried by the look being “old fashioned office proper”. I’m boring enough as it is, I need to try to buy things with a teeny bit of edge Grin. Or I might as well just buy Gardeur. I have a pair of grey linen trousers that should be you know, fine but I never wear them because the cut over the front makes me feel like a granny. No offence to anyone. Or a fat man (hi Bo!) - it just sits over my pudgy belly.😒 But I think I will place an order and see, I’m curious now. Provided they still have my sizes in obv. Thank you for quick review!

I really like the blue shirt. Am cursing living too far from a physical shop, I bet there’s loads of stuff in Stockholm. 😒 I’m also very fond of jumpers with vertical stripes but they tend to look better on men I think - something about no boobs helping there! I’d buy something like that for mister bani who is always wanting to diversify his wardrobe. It’s his usual stuff but a little bit extra. The most exciting thing he’s bought for ages is the yellow check shirt from Mango and he’s ridiculously pleased with this departure from form! I’m

Email today - H&M:s new Conscious collection is out. There's a green tulle dress that fills a hole in the market (it's green, not black or pink) but other than that ... clothes. I like the wide leg trousers in a silk blend but I'm not buying them ;)

botemp · 01/12/2020 12:03

Curse you Bani, I want the 'silk' trousers (35% of it Hmm) too but my track record with H&M trousers isn't very good and I've returned all of my last couple of orders with H&M and fear being banned by them with another returned order Shock. I also want these dresses for reasons escaping me Confused

It's the desire to waft, Bo. It comes to us all.

botemp · 01/12/2020 12:26

Is that a euphemism for farting 🙈

OP posts:
banivani · 01/12/2020 12:37

No you dirty-minded creature, wafting as in moving gracefully about with clothes billowing around us, mid-Atlantic accent optional.

However:

banivani · 01/12/2020 12:38

I'm thinking maybe we should fill up the thread so there's a fresh new one when my trousers from Suit Supply arrive ;)

Floisme · 01/12/2020 13:42

When are you expecting them bani? I shall clear the calendar (which won't take long).

I'm not getting on well with the Makers Atelier lounge shirt pattern. Unfortunately it crosses that undefinable line between oversized and fecking huge. I've had to unpick not only the the side seams - which I can live with - but also the sleeves. Angry

banivani · 01/12/2020 14:51

Flo that's so frustrating!!! And one reason why pattern sewing is harder than draping - but easier once you get the pattern absolutely right of course ;)

I'm getting navy blue Frankies maybe even this week, but the chartreuse (I've decided) Allys will arrive a little later. I don't have high hopes.

Redandblue11 · 01/12/2020 15:05

Bo those dresses have got my name written all over it. And reminded me of Chelsea flower show and how this year I could not go ... amongst a million and one other things...
Surely chelsea will happen this year ... the second one looks like a great contender for me ...

Redandblue11 · 01/12/2020 15:07

I have had broken sleep for a few nights and half deserted you lot and now regular in the puppy survival thread...
So in my half asleep state I misread “ When are you expecting bani?” And thought. WHAT? Have I missed something upthread?!

XingMing · 01/12/2020 16:53

How is the puppy coming along Red? XingDog sends a woof of welcome.

Redandblue11 · 01/12/2020 17:20

He is adorable Xing. A yellow Lab of working lines, from very good family (better family tree than mine Halloween Blush) . Adorable and we are used to long walks/bike rides so that fits with our lifestyle and I have a couple of dog walkers handy , that I intend to use even if at the moment I am 100 from home, in case I go back to the office at some point/or I just nip into London to buy wafty 👗 , so I want him used to be regularly with another person , also staying overnight there too. I also have good neighbours with dogs too so that is handy.
Woof back to Xingdog .

Please ignore this message parisiennes Grin

XingMing · 01/12/2020 19:54

Another message for Parisiennes to ignore as it's about dogs.

He sounds gorgeous Red. Very envious. We've only had one dog, but he was the most beautiful boy on the block. I thought he was better looking than the Lab that won Crufts.

XingDog is a work dog... she doesn't socialise with people or dogs, but is bonded with me, and her mission is to get pheasants in the air and kill small furry critters. Gamekeepers adore her. Our area locally has lots of shooting, and the rangers and keepers think she's the bees knees. But she is terrified of the dishwasher and any other domestic machine. I have to take her outside if I want to vacuum.

banivani · 01/12/2020 22:13

Ladies. I borrowed a jumper of partially mohair today from my daughter and I was so happy to be so warm and cuddly that I started looking for mohair knits even though I am principally opposed to looking like a fuzzy ball. And I found this. www.mohairmagic.com

I am in bits.

What fetish have you unearthed now, Bani? Shock the second pic definitely feels like something out of a Midsummer Night's Dream production 🤣 I expect the mohair 'scene' to look much like attached.

Speaking of fuzzy balls, whatever happened to Angora, btw? Too cruel? It always felt ridiculously nice to pet.

I knoooow faun roleplay right? 😂 Don’t know about angora, it’s never been in my price range I think... can’t recall ever seeing it in a shop.

Floisme · 01/12/2020 23:31

Good Lord it's the guy from the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Mr....Mr... the faun man. Hang on.

Floisme · 01/12/2020 23:34

Mr Tumnus! Thank you Google.
A style icon. Whoever would have thought it.

banivani · 02/12/2020 07:18

Not all of mr Tumnus, just his legs. Grin

Redandblue11 · 02/12/2020 08:20

I remember angora, used to be quite popular in Argentina. My mum used to have a jumper and me too, it couldn’t have been very expensive. Or I wonder if my mum received it as a present or something. At the time my ethical consciousness wasn’t as aware as now ... now off to google how angora is produced .
