I am all prepared to post links on the 10th!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/12/2019 22:26

Agree with you @itswinetime, Kate needs to wear a different tiara.

However just read this article on Royal tiara etiquette and Tiaras are a lifetime loan, and no other lady gets to wear them. (Although I’ve seen an exception with Princess Anne wearing the Queens wedding tiara on her wedding day)
I’ve also seen the Lotus flower tiara on both the QM and PM.

So Kate actually has 3 tiara’s at her disposal; her wedding day scroll tiara, the lotus flower and the Cambridge lovers knot.

So if Meghan ever goes to a tiara event; we should see her wedding day tiara again.

itswinetime · 06/12/2019 23:10

But Kate has only worn her wedding tiara on her wedding day hasn't she? After that she has worn the lotus flower a couple of times and them almost exclusively the lovers knot. As future queen surely she can be allowed more than 2 she actually wears? I'd want an extra tiara much more than a sash if I was royal Crown Wink

But re wedding tiaras if Kate hasn't worn hers again does that mean if Meghan does attend a tiara worthy event which unless they do decide to retire from public's life she will when Charles is king if not before, would she get a new tiara too? Could they finally crack open the vault and let us see some new jewels. 🙏🏻 Even Sophie has more than one. Anyone know any tiaras that might be a good match for Meghan?

Wetdogloveshubert · 06/12/2019 23:14

That article was interesting, and made much more sense than individuals having to seek permission on an irregular basis for each tiara. This one remains my favourite of Kate's.

Also that means that Eugenie's tiara is hers now so we won't be seeing that one again as I can't see she will be at many tiara events that's a shame hers is still one of my favourites.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 07/12/2019 06:04

I wonder if the tiara thing is more to do with where you are in the family. Oh not making myself clear

Sophie is DIL
Kate is GDIL

If that makes sense!

BigGreenOlives · 07/12/2019 06:27

That article kept slipping in ‘usually’. I thought Meghan couldn’t use the emerald tiara as Eugenie was going to wear it? I think I’d prioritise my own granddaughter over a granddaughter in law to be in a similar situation. I liked the detail about velvet ribbon on the bottom of the tiara.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 07/12/2019 07:39

Feast your eyes ladies 40 tiaras owned by the British Royal family

It would appear that they all have about 3 each, even Sophie.
The duchess of Gloucester has some beautiful Tiaras which I have never seen before.

There is a sapphire parure, last seen on Queen Mary, which I hope Kate wears one day; given her love of sapphires.

Only a slight Royal link, but interesting from a fashion point of view Pantone’s colour of the year

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 07/12/2019 07:47

And now, I have a title for the next thread @QueenOfTheAndals;
“It’s Tiara Season”

paradyning · 07/12/2019 08:25

Camilla must be hosted Helen & Douglas House children soon at Clarence House.

Great title Curly

Awaiting a link to the new thread QueenoftheAndals.
Looking at some of the earlier posts on this thread and saw photos posted by hopeishere of Camilla literally dripping in diamonds. The second photo in particular. I wonder is it heavy to wear ?

7Worfs · 07/12/2019 08:43

@BigGreenOlives Meghan wanted the Vladimir tiara, one of the Queen’s favourites (comes with emeralds or pearls), not the one Eugenie wore.
There is a tiara pecking order too, but I don’t know anything about it.

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/12/2019 08:50

Well we don't know if the tiara story is true, of course! I couldn't see Eugenie's tiara or the Vladimir working with Meghan's veil nearly as well as the one she wore did. Both would also be a bit overwhelming on someone as petite as her. I thought her wedding tiara was perfect, that and Zara's are probably my favourites.

I wonder if HM would consider lending me one to wear to my wedding next summer? Think of the service I've done to the RF with these threads!

And more importantly, new thread!

I've taken @CurlyWurlyTwirly's suggestion on board but given it a festive twist...

7Worfs · 07/12/2019 08:59

Agreed, the one Meghan wore was a much better fit for her.
@QueenOfTheAndals if not a tiara then an OBE at least Crown Smile

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 07/12/2019 09:03

Link please @QueenOfTheAndals

I love the word “parure”.
