From that link Curly shared I love the photo of Charles and Camilla from 2015. They both look so relaxed.

7Worfs · 04/12/2019 20:11

My favourite was the Balmoral one with Queen, DoE and 4 grandchildren. 👑

BertrandRussell · 04/12/2019 20:13

Remember that weird Charles and Diana Fortnum and Mason advert one?

BertrandRussell · 04/12/2019 20:22

Still baffled by Prince Harry’s leg in that black and white picture! Still think Charles and Camilla are the happiest looking couple and I think they are both awful!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 04/12/2019 20:27

Camilla and Charles at an engagement this evening
I really like the look of her gown; looks like a dark plum velvet.

The girls are so sweet with the curtseys, and Camilla is really friendly «Hullo!» and a compliment for each little girl!

Disfordarkchocolate · 04/12/2019 20:33

I love the 1990 card with the Queen and the Duke.

BertrandRussell · 04/12/2019 20:40

But Charles only acknowledged two of the little girls- that’s horrible! Sad

vivacian · 04/12/2019 20:48

He didn’t, he spoke to all three.

paradyning · 04/12/2019 20:58

Camilla looks absolutely lovely. Her neck bling is something else too.

IfWishesWereFishes · 04/12/2019 21:08

I love the fact that 1979 Anne looks exactly the same as 2019 Anne.

vivacian · 04/12/2019 21:18

I wasn’t just googling curtsies. Have we ever seen either of the Wales duchesses curtsy to one of the Princesses of York?

vivacian · 04/12/2019 21:20

And who are the current “blood princesses”? The Princess Royal, the York sisters and Princess Charlotte??

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 04/12/2019 21:22

Have we ever seen either of the Wales duchesses curtsy to one of the Princesses of York?

I don’t think there’s ever been an occasion where the duchesses have been in the York princesses company without their husbands.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 04/12/2019 21:23

And Princess Alexandra.
And technically Lady Louise

vivacian · 04/12/2019 21:32

Ah, I didn’t realise she was a blood princess (what a silly term) and I guess non-titled princesses don’t count. If they did, would Zara be a blood princess?

Catrescue1971 · 04/12/2019 22:09

I always like the photos of Camilla and Charles. They do look so happy. And Camilla also seems to be lovely during engagements. Some pupils of mine went to an event a couple of years ago - about literacy and reading books. My colleague said that she was really genuine in her conversation with everyone and made the children feel at ease. They all came back repeating her words, feeling really proud of themselves. Whenever I read negative comments about her I always think back to this.

BlingLoving · 04/12/2019 22:28

Someone explained before that there's no need to curtesy because they are all at same level.

itswinetime · 04/12/2019 22:35

I think the rules of curtsying have always been a bit vague and I'm not sure we really know how does/don'ts do we?

If those rules are correct then technically Kate should curtesy to Charlotte every morning unless William is there! Crown Grin

SenecaFalls · 05/12/2019 00:52

They don't curtsy to people of the same rank (HRH by blood or marriage, whether with husbands or not). That notion, as best as I can determine, arose some years from one of the tabloids taking a change in the rules of precedence (who enters first, last, etc.) and turning it into curtsying to each other. It spread and gets repeated, but it is specious.

Kate has sometimes curtsied to the DofE, I assume as a sign of respect, but she doesn't have to.

paradyning · 05/12/2019 01:04

I love your encyclopaedic knowledge Seneca

SenecaFalls · 05/12/2019 02:55

Thanks, paradyning. I don't think my knowledge is all that vast, but sufficient to email US authors of news articles who get the titles of all wrong, like one mentioned by a poster above. My family thinks it's very funny, but I just consider it a little service that I provide. Smile

SummerPlace · 05/12/2019 06:18

@itswinetime I know you posted a picture of Diana ages ago but I've only just started reading this thread to start of this thread. I can actually remember that. I live in Sydney and this was on probably their first tour to Australia. Diana got some sunburn and decided to use the bracelet across her forehead to distract attention from the redness. All anyone could talk about was how original and chic she looked.

Or at least that was the story making the rounds here at the time.

I apologise if anyone else has already posted the same thing.

vivacian · 05/12/2019 06:42

That’s actually a relief!

banivani · 05/12/2019 08:08

The Swedish king and queen are being applauded in India for carrying their own bags.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 05/12/2019 09:35

@vivacian

It's not the non titled aspect; the HRH only passes down the Male line, so none of the "blood princesses" can pass hrh onto their children.
Zara would have been max Lady daughter of an Earl, if her father had accepted an earldom on his Marriage to Anne.

(Like Princess Margaret's husband; Earl Snowdon)
Not sure how true it is but Sir Angus Ogilvy refused a title on his marriage to Princess Alexandra and was Apparently mortified that his decision was the precedent for the Queen's grandchildren to be untitled !
