Thank you for the thread Queen

I’ve asked for my previous post to be deleted as I included it much personal information- not that I said anything untoward Wink

That black velvet gown was a stunning look on Kate @justasking111. I wish she'd rewear it instead of buying identikit lace dresses!

I feel like a magpie ogling the jewellery camilla is wearing! Stunning pieces

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/11/2019 07:46

She can carry off the big rocks, that's for sure.

HM last night. I love the colour of her outfit.

AdaColeman · 21/11/2019 09:03

That photo of Diana in the pale pink dress is wonderful! No one could roll their eyes as effectively as Di.

I love how Camilla is swathed in pearls morning noon and night, I bet she sits eating her porridge, festooned in pearls. She inherited some beautiful pearls from her Mother, lucky woman!

banivani · 21/11/2019 09:12

See Charlene wears a lot of fashion forward pieces. I approve - if your job essentially is to be a sort of clothes hanger (note: on a more philosophical note I do not approve of women being viewed like that), then what are you going to do with that? One way is to promote fashion in some way. CPV has found her niche, wearing Swedish brands, but wearing items she clearly feels comfortable in - not too edgy, quite covered so no need to worry about wardrobe mishaps etc. Charlene wears a few - for royals - more unusual and edgy choices, like a model or a film star might, so she can set the agenda and be someone who actually sets trends maybe (which is what royalty used to do!).

Reading these threads and seeing so many people so unsatisfied with what the UK RF wear I think it might be a combination of not being showy enough (no spectacle), not being obvious trend-setters (having people copy your clothes is not the same thing as being cutting-edge in any way, and I think Diana came closer to challenging norms - but then the 80s were in some ways more permissible) and yet not obviously having the agenda of promoting UK designers/industry.

That is the kind argument. The unkind is that the British seem to just enjoy not liking stuff haha, so will never think "good job". The queen is just earning that at the age of 90+!

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/11/2019 10:00

I spotted this IG post of HM in her youth. Look how tiny her waist was!

BeatriceTheBeast · 21/11/2019 11:40

She was absolutely teeny weeny, wasn't she? But she is hardly a giant now tbf. She is probably very small framed.

BertrandRussell · 21/11/2019 11:50

The story about Diana’s headband at the time was that her neck was too sunburnt to wear a necklace.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 21/11/2019 11:55

I am bit concerned for Camilla. She hasn’t been well for a while. The recent pics show her hair looks like it’s lost body. I’m worried that she is more unwell than they let on.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/11/2019 12:04

Does Camilla look that unwell? She looks to me like a woman in her 70s who's enjoyed a fag and a drink all her life - which is what she is!

CPV in London last night at the celebrity Premier of &Juliet. Not sure that I like the jacket with the dress. The dress is pretty - a collaboration between Giambattista Valli and H&M

banivani · 21/11/2019 12:48

Ha I knew we'd see CPV in that collaboration, there were some great dresses in it, very Villanelle. I think the jacket works with it in the context of opening night.

DuchessofWoke · 21/11/2019 13:17

I’ve been looking at some very old Diana photos on Instagram today and notice how pretty she was with longer hair. I wonder why she didn’t have it like this more often.

Funny how few famous women have short hair these days. Not just royals (apart from Charlene) but women in the public eye in general.

OP posts:
justasking111 · 21/11/2019 13:32

Hated that slip dress it did look like bed wear.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 21/11/2019 13:32

According to the Daily Mail Andrew gets a salary of £249,000 a year. Anyone know what the salary bands are like. Presumably Charles gets the most after the Queen, then William and Harry. Also Camilla, Kate and Meghan are more senior working royals so they probably get a few hundred grand each. Not a bad job if you can pass the interview stage.

StCharlotte · 21/11/2019 13:33

I think that coat's fine on CPV in the circs. It was bloody freezing in London last night - what must it have been like in Stockholm??

BeatriceTheBeast · 21/11/2019 13:35

So true @queenoftheandals! It's definitely been out of style for a while. I've noticed it more and more on people out and about though, so I think it's coming back.

I personally think Diana's hair was very of the time and she definitely wouldn't have it if she was a generation younger, like K&W age.

It's definitely a 'thing' among the more privileged as well. I can't remember the last time I saw a very privileged woman of my (Kate's) age, who DIDN'T have swishy, beautiful hair! Even if it's all extensions.

I'm sure fashions will change again and it will be de rigueur to have short hair. I will never have long hair, unless it's extensions sadly, as it goes to pieces after a certain length. So I have to follow hair fashions in other ways.

BeatriceTheBeast · 21/11/2019 13:40

Oh christ, that didn't make sense AT ALL!

I'm having one of those...weeks!

I mean, short hair has been out of style for a while and that I don't know any privileged women of my generation (Kate's age) who do NOT have swishy, beautiful, LONG hair.

Some key words missing in my previous post.

justasking111 · 21/11/2019 13:40

Long hair is more adaptable, up, down, half up/down. I find it easier than my friends with short hair who have to spend more time on theirs than I do.

latedecember1963 · 21/11/2019 13:44

I love seeing photos of Diana, she was just so beautiful. I agree, Ada, about the eye roll skills. She had mastered a fabulous flounce action too. I remember the video clip many threads back with her and Charles and baby William doing an interview in a sitting room. At the end she just got up, plonked William in Charles's arms and stalked out. 😄

Camilla's jacket is a lovely colour in the NZ photos. The dragon fly brooches are a nice change too.
