Other bits of interest at Zara, they had a few oversized jumper in that are 100% wool. Not as thick or heavy as Joseph, etc. but for the money (€70-80) it wasn't bad at all. They looked a lot better on the mannequin than me though (improvised jumpsuit not helping either). The grey was only left in a medium, I might order the size down (the smallest they have) online as I really liked the colour. The white I only tried on as Elle was looking for something like that when we were in Paris as I really need a roll neck on these oversized pieces and the smallest size (S) just didn't feel like my size. It was weirdly static though so I struggled to get a good sense of it.

Then the out my comfort zone new collection stuff which is always fun to try but rarely ever comes home with me. Pic 1, I was drawn to this tigers and swirls print, the belt on it is the cheapest tat ever though. I do somewhat like it but this specific one had the tiger on my boob and it weirdly elongated it down in RL that was just a tad disturbing. These dresses are just not really my thing generally though, so easy enough to ignore again.

I was really surprised by this white dress as it had very strong Simone Rocha vibes and I didn't really expect her to trickle down to the high street as it's so specific and not that mainstream. Seems like the thing that would work well with a layering approach of trousers or skirts, that maximalist vibe anyhow. It doesn't picture well in terms of volume (it just makes me look big, I really struggled to get a somewhat flattering angle) but it did have quite a good presence in RL where you could appreciate the 3D aspect of it with some flattering details. Potentially sizing up may be key here? Again, not my wheelhouse but it did get me thinking, maybe I should try it out over my Cos wide leg trousers...

Last post for now (although tomorrow is another predicted cabin fever day here, so I apologise in advance for endless prattle for tomorrow).

Not sure where they pulled this from, felt more from a movie than a catwalk, was quite intrigued by it, the trousers with a skirt at the back less so as it was rather shoddily made (and I couldn't be arsed to try on anything that would require taking off boots and jumpsuit for). Top wasn't that great on me though, too much shoulders that read as very broad and top heavy and I didn't get the drape the mannequin did, but perhaps that was down to tucking it in high waisted trousers? Fun to have tried on but definitely not meant for me.

If the diffuser is tat, bo, I won't complain and will just stuff it in my overnight bag to use away from home. I have a big one that's too heavy and not a universal fit.

See what you mean about the raincoat sleeves, but the shorts-vibe is successful.

The wedding is unlikely to have many French guests as the groom is English (but v international); the bride is Burmese-Australian, via UAE, and the rest hail from all over! It's being celebrated in France mainly for the weather. The official wedding is next month in London, so the happy couple can move to the Middle East. And no one is going to care what the ancient auntie wears, except her!

I know what you mean, Xing - I was an auntie at the back too last year, but we have our self respect to think about. If its not too painful to get into, I'm very taken with the idea of this Perry Ellis suit, even though I haven't seen it.

As you know bo I have a soft spot for the Barbour-esque look but, if you're going to wear it in the rain then I'd say no to flappy, cropped sleeves. I'd also rule it out for the length personally as I don't see the point of short raincoats that leave you with soggy thighs. (That was why I fell for the knee length MH Barbour and not the cheaper, shorter ones). I like the grey Zara jumper and it looks like the colour suits you better than the white. I'm not drawn to the tiger print dress and I think the problem with the white dress is that it looks too big for rather than oversized if that makes sense.

I just watched this quite ridiculous but also interesting with Alexa Chung learning how to dress French. It helps that her hair is always what I think of as ‘Parisian looking’

I don't go to weddings often, does anyone really care what others are wearing beyond the bride?

Yes, length was an issue for me too Flo, it was in the danger zone of latching on to the back of my bike saddle everytime I get on and that's pretty dangerous. I actually tried on the Alexa Chung X Barbour coat in Paris but it was rather dull/frumpy and I couldn't distinguish it from any other Barbour Confused

In my defense, I may have been on a look at all the new stuff at Zara high. I just looked up the tiger dress online and the model looks miserable in it too...

The white dress, I agree, it probably needs to feel more convincingly oversized, it would probably also suit someone who is fuller better, seems the type of thing that would suit someone with lovely round cheeks and eyes and a bit of an apple shape who likes that look and carries oversized off well at a larger size.

Viennese, I've seen a few from that AC series trying to understand the French as YouTube is rather aggressively suggesting her videos constantly. I do actually enjoy the French ones, the one on relationships with Josephine de La Baume can probably be best skipped for everyone's MH but the one with Caroline de Maigret was nice as well, although they are all rather fluffy and light, so probably don't expect too much from them. I do have some respect for the one you posted (sorry, I'll remember her name right after posting, as usual, she's the one of the green Raey coat fame) for giving up her kitchen to be a closet Grin

I've continued watching next in fashion as the storm arrived late afternoon yesterday and has us pretty cooped up since. I'm still confused on why AC is considered the annoying one by some of you 🤷 streetwear episode definitely a bit odd, the whole show is odd tbh. Knowing the price with Net A Porter it's pretty obvious a fair number of designers were cast for diversity (of talent and probably your usual diversity but primarily the talent) as the winner will have to slot in with the other Net A Porter brands, and specifically the Vanguard/Net Sustain look which narrows the field down considerably. It's not very bingeable I have to say, which is unusual for a Netflix show.

No, bo we (or at least me) hope the bride looks like her best bridal dream. (and she will look fabulous). As part of Rag, Tag and Bobtail mob, I'd just like to to look like the very best version of Xing, who is only an aunt and need not appear in all the pictures. I really don't care whether my outfit is admired, but if there's a talented photographer present, I will be grabbing a nice picture for a new profile. (I am not keen on the present FB version). As Flo said above, it's personal. In a fashion-y environment, I'd like to the the older lady who nails it, but not at the expense of the principal players.

I completely understand that impulse xing I love the sounds of the Perry Ellis suit.

I think it’s Camille Charriere bo I like the shorts effect, and whispers I like the khaki top, but corporate space ranger is kind of my jam!

I enjoyed the AC YouTube one with Caroline de Maigret, as well, the one with her facialist at the end. I definitely think it's supposed to be light and fluffy, I enjoyed the face massage Grin.

Pfft, they chickened out with that facialist, they should have gone hardcore and visited Joelle Ciocco and gotten the buccal facial where someone sticks their fingers in your mouth and pulls Shock while sternly telling you not to eat so much sugar. It's ludicrously expensive and I'll attest you look amazing after but I'm not convinced it's worth the price tag. I might go again in a few years though

Totally understand Xing it is after all through dressing up that you show your support and respect for the union as well as celebrating and just wanting to have a good time.

Ha corporate space ranger, I was hoping it would be more dystopian Rick Owens but thought it ended up looking a bit dusty storm trooper (I think, I get star wars and trek confused all the time) Confused

I'm annoyed with the weather... I just want to wear my new coat already but it's too cold and windy with weird short bursts of rain and it will be like this for the next two weeks by the looks of it Angry

Grin at corporate space ranger.

bo or anyone else, what was the garment steamer you said you used? I've just returned a rubbish one to amazon, as it steams for enough time to do half an item of clothes and have been trawling through all the ones on amazon and thought I'd rather get a word of mouth recommendation.

I have a first generation Fridja as that was the only non professional around at the time (the professional ones can burn you rather harshly). I'm due to replace it (lasted over a decade or so, considering it was something like €120 it's been money well spent, I think for the price it's probably still a decent buy). I'm looking at the SteamOne Dualys Plus or a Jiffy Steamer the latter is a professional steamer but I've nosily asked shop assistants their experience with it when I spotted it and they're not scalded with burns from it and said it's a lot easier to use than others they've worked with.

I also have a DeLonghi steam iron that can steam vertically and that does a good job as well. Be sure to use denatured water in both (I use the water from the dryer and add a bit of orange blossom water to it when I remember) otherwise you'll get difficult to remove white spots on everything.

You're welcome, question for you quirky even if it is probably a bit stalkerish Blush I just saw you mention on a revived thread from 2017 that you took/take collagen supplements, do you still?

I'm generally of the 'supplements are expensive piss' school of thought (unless you're actually deficient, obvs) but my dermatologist brought it up for helping with the density of my hair so I'm contemplating it even though I find the evidence behind it rather iffy, my derm did suggest a specific kind that has the most convincing evidence behind it but acknowledges it's more in the potential it's promising than solid results. Wondering how you've been getting on with it for years potentially.

Are we running out of room? If you're using "Faire du lèche-vitrines" in the thread title then I agree that you should stick to the French as there is a similar, but offensive phrase in English.

More skirt trousers. I also like these and the definitely have a bit of a corporate Space Ranger vibe IMO. www.zara.com/uk/en/trousers-with-layered-pleated-skirt-p02410457.html?v1=43883464&v2=1445724

Navy and brown for me today even though pants look black here. I love that brown is back, it's much easier to wear.

Yes, bo, I take collagen. Usually powdered in my morning coffee. I've taken Great Lakes and also Liquid Body (Swedish) marine collagen. Both from amazon. I suppose it's the idea that you produce less as you get older. The latter I like and it seems to help my skin, but it could be other factors: good diet, retinol etc. It's supposed to help hair, joints and bones too, I think.

Quick check in, love the return of brown too Elle, and on yoh. I have thoughts on brown, will expand on them later. That Zara look looks a bit eco warrior space ranger. I like it but it does look a bit stern somehow. Like she's coming to write you a ticket for not drinking through an awful recycled cardboard straw (whoever thought of those needs to be severely punished).

Thanks for the collagen experience info, quirky. I do get enough of the necessary building blocks from diet but as a lifelong pescetarian I've never really ingested it unless you count gelatine, so somewhere it should make sense to incorporate it, especially with advancing age as it's meant to be good for joints. I'm still sceptical but for my hair I'm willing to give it a shot anyhow.
