Very daring to wear these?

So recently I’ve lost a bit of weight, have been working really hard at the gym and am feeling better about myself for the first time in a long time. I’m going for a night out on Saturday for drinks and was wondering if these leggings would be ridiculous to wear?

If you saw someone out in these would you think they are ott? I think they are okay for me age wise, just worried I might get a few looks Hmm and they might make me look cheap

Sheesh, don't wear them with white Nike AirMax as someone upthread suggested Grin
Trainers - yes. White Nikes - no. Not unless you're particularly going for the teenager sitting at a bus stop drinking Blue Wkd look.

As an aside, what is it with everyone trying to team everything with white Air Max at the moment? Have people really got that little imagination when it comes to trainers?!

sweetkitty · 20/10/2019 18:41

I was thinking of this thread today when I was out walking the dog down the park and there was a woman wearing the leather look/coated jeans she was all done up for a Sunday afternoon down the park and looked late 50s.

MrDarcysMa · 20/10/2019 19:06

where I live that kind of thing is normal. But you wouldn't wear them with a skimpy top, more trainers or a big top/ jumper. If you're not 100% then you might feel a bit self conscious so I'd go for leather or coated jeans instead.

Itsjustmee · 21/10/2019 21:45

While I wouldn’t get those ones as they look quite cheap despite the high price
I have the leather look Spanx leggings in various colours and the jean Spanx leggings in black blue and distressed denim
And they are amazing really, they fit like a glove but you get no bulges or bumps and yep you do get a lot of attention when wearing them

I got all of mine from Luxury Legs & Next I must have over a grands worth of leggings 😂

I wear mine with wedge ankle boots from
Fly London and my knee high boots with a wedge heel
I threw out all my crap cheap leggings and live in these now

Itsjustmee · 21/10/2019 21:47

Oh and OP I’m old enough to be your mum 😂 so it’s def not a age thing

AnyFucker · 21/10/2019 21:51

You will sweat your arse off in those

mathanxiety · 22/10/2019 01:28

They look too much like shiny latex.

I would get something that has more of a matte finish that looks more like real leather. For footwear I would go with stilettos but if it's cold and rainy wear boots.

SpiderCharlotte · 22/10/2019 01:43

24 and size 8? Wear them love and I hope you have a great time.

caitmarcinek · 23/10/2019 12:05

Go for it! Congratulations on finding your confidence - please don't let the vicious bullying on this website put you off!
In terms of styling, I would say heeled boots and a nice jumper would look fab. Congratulations again ☺️

AzraiL · 23/10/2019 12:24

You're 24, a size 8, and feeling great. Wear what makes you feel good!

BourbonAndTea · 23/10/2019 12:32

I think if you are feeling confident then go for it.

It;s how you carry the clothing, if you look like you own them then you can carry them off, if you look apologetic about it they will look bad.

I'd love to wear them but alas don't have the confidence!

Go for it OP! You only get one life so dress up and enjoy it!

And congrats on the weightloss!

CountFosco · 23/10/2019 12:51

I was having a glance through Grazia and they had these leggings in the 'this week's must buys' so you are clearly much more fashionable than all us old fogeys!

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 23/10/2019 12:59

I think they will look amazing + at any age + worn with a fluffy, soft, slightly oversized jumper with trainers. If I saw you out like that OP I would have a little secret style crush on you for a few moments Wink.

They are very expensive though so!

And please, for the love of all things holy DO NOT buy the flesh colour.

imclaustrophobicdarren · 23/10/2019 13:08

I'm 30 and I have them in black. Wear them with naice trainers and a knitted jumper, long camel coat.

AgathaTheAardvark · 23/10/2019 13:08

I saw a woman, much older than you, but still younger than me, and probably a size 14 wearing leggings like these! It was after reading this thread and a NT property - home of the fashion forward Grin. She looked quite nice in them. Hers were burgundy / brown and she wore them with some sort of jumper.

imclaustrophobicdarren · 23/10/2019 13:10

My skinnier 22 year old SIL wore some she had to dinner the other night with open toe black boots and a fastened balmain blazer with nothing under. She looked insane 😻

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 23/10/2019 13:15

Ooohh a burgundy shade would look a bit softer. Good idea.

TheStuffedPenguin · 23/10/2019 13:15

You could get them cheaper on Ann Summers .

Paraballa · 23/10/2019 13:33

Wear them! They're fine if you're young. My only worry would be the inner thighs squeaking as you walk...

Lhastingsmua · 23/10/2019 13:40

It’s interesting how taste in fashion differs.

I don’t think these patent trousers are particularly daring, outrageous, or ‘hooker’ material as suggested upthread (🙄)

I think they’re just normal and have seen people in them before, both in person and on socials. I’m a 22 year old Londoner, and don’t think anyone in London would bat an eyelid at these. I would consider myself fashionable, I used to work at topshop at university and I have many ex colleagues/friends that now work in fashion buying/merchandising or personal styling - they would certainly wear these and be baffled at the outrage!

Justmuddlingalong · 23/10/2019 13:44

I'm double your age and my body resembles 6lb of shit in a 5lb bag. Go for it. Buy them and wear them. But... don't wait until you're bursting before going to the loo. I'd imagine they'll need to be squeakily shimmied down your thighs.

Spied · 23/10/2019 13:45

I really like them. I'm 39 and wouldn't but at 24 and size 8- yes!

Cillmantain · 23/10/2019 13:53

Dont like them, but I understand your reasoning
You could get something a lot nicer for less money.
How many times do you think you would get to wear them.
I would be thinking of cost per wear.

Drogosnextwife · 23/10/2019 13:59

They are a bit too shiny for me. Maybe for a niggt out. What about a less shiny pair. I have nice ones from river island. Coated jeggings I think they are called. Only ones that I could find that were nice and tight on my legs.

Branleuse · 23/10/2019 14:13

id love those if i was in my late teens or twenties. Im not sure id get away with it now, but if you can afford them, then i think theyre nice
