Very daring to wear these?

So recently I’ve lost a bit of weight, have been working really hard at the gym and am feeling better about myself for the first time in a long time. I’m going for a night out on Saturday for drinks and was wondering if these leggings would be ridiculous to wear?

If you saw someone out in these would you think they are ott? I think they are okay for me age wise, just worried I might get a few looks Hmm and they might make me look cheap

I was going to say god no, but ya know what...if I was a size 8 I would be swanning around in all sorts. Go for it.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 19/10/2019 21:16

They're heinous. My daughter used to wear stuff like this when she was a size 6-8 and barely out of her teens. They still looked awful. We called them her Max Wall trousers. You'll need to Google him.

By all means celebrate your body and your body confidence, but not with those monstrosities.

Winter2019 · 19/10/2019 21:16

Go for it! You said if you'd lose weight, you'd buy them! Black or burgundy ones though. Nude ones look weird. And especially on a night out they'd look totally fine!

sparklefarts · 19/10/2019 21:16

I would definitely be wearing them if I was 24 and size 8 I mean. Definitely. Am in my 30s and would consider them if I lost a shit tonne of weight

MrsGrindah · 19/10/2019 21:18

I’m troubled by your comment about getting attention from men OP

snottysystem · 19/10/2019 21:18

What do your friends think & what is the venue in London?

FavouriteSong · 19/10/2019 21:22

Go for it! But get a cheaper version - even if you're okay for money, that's a lot of cash for something you're not going to wear a lot.

youcanthandlethetruth · 19/10/2019 21:24

@Mrsgrindah

What I meant is I wish I had the confidence those girls had to wear something a bit more skin tight and to actually look good. I’ve always hated my legs in leggings or jeans because they were larger and I felt self conscious.

I never said I want attention from men I’m happily married....

Yeah, I had a good job and no children at that age too, but I simply object to spending that amount of money on something which I wouldn't wear much. Haven't you heard about single use plastics destroying the planet Wink.

I got married at 27 and I bought my beautiful, designer wedding dress on eBay for very little.

I guess, how much wear would you get out of them for £95? For something flash in the pan like these, I do think that's too much money personally, and our household income would probably be on the higher end of normal.

HamWater · 19/10/2019 21:31

I think you should do it! I look back fondly at some of the stuff I wore in my early 20s that I can't wear now. Don't get older, less toned, etc and then regret not having fun with clothes in your youth.

MrsGrindah · 19/10/2019 21:31

But looking good shouldn’t be equated with getting attention from men.

You should look and feel good on your own terms. And if these leggings make you feel good that enough isn’t it? No need to bring men into the equation.

Lhastingsmua · 19/10/2019 21:33

I have a good job and can afford virtually whatever I like, but I’d rather get a cheap pair and put the rest of that money towards something else - whether that’s a designer bag or just saving it.

OrangeSwoosh · 19/10/2019 21:38

Are they called Commando because once you've bought them, you can't afford to buy any knickers?

sprunk · 19/10/2019 21:40

I like them, although I am definitely too old and lumpy to wear them myselfGrin. The cheaper versions look just as nice.

sprunk · 19/10/2019 21:41

@HamWater is spot on

Srictlybakeoff · 19/10/2019 21:44

Being size 8 and 24 I think you could wear them and look good. I wish I’d been more adventurous when I was young. But they are very “ try hard” to be sexy imo and I suspect you could show off your new figure if something more classy

Can't believe this thread has got to 4 pages and no one has mentioned Ross from Friends yet Grin

Nearlyalmost50 · 19/10/2019 22:23

I have worn, in my time, lots of things many MNetters wouldn't like- hot pants and heels, faux leather trousers, supertight black jodhpurs with a wet look high neck top and a jacket (I felt like Catwoman), lots of mini-dresses. I don't regret one night out! I felt young, skinny and free -I'm now in the possession of a matronly bust and a mum's tum pouch. So, I say go for it! So what if you get them, wear them once then decide it's not your look- give them to charity. Have fun in your life and don't have regrets.

Pinkarsedfly · 19/10/2019 22:29

The flesh coloured ones make the model look like a naked Barbie 😂

HotSince82 · 19/10/2019 22:30

I had an electric blue pair in 2002 whwn I was nineteen. I looked great and so will you OP.
You're twenty four, if you don't wear them now, then when will you? You have decades to look classy, believe me.
Wear the pants, enjoy yourself and have some fun!

raspberryk · 19/10/2019 22:39

The nude ones...

sweetkitty · 19/10/2019 22:40

I saw a girl wearing these in a restaurant the other night and said to DH remember I had a pair like them? He was like “oh yes Grin

I was 19 and a size 8. I wore them with a white satin shirt. This was 25 years ago! All I remember was they were very sweaty and uncomfy, going to the toilet was a nightmare you had to roll them down bit by bit past the sweat, yuck and you didn’t want to roll them back up!

If you want to wear them go for it, your only young once!

raspberryk · 19/10/2019 22:40
