Very daring to wear these?

So recently I’ve lost a bit of weight, have been working really hard at the gym and am feeling better about myself for the first time in a long time. I’m going for a night out on Saturday for drinks and was wondering if these leggings would be ridiculous to wear?

If you saw someone out in these would you think they are ott? I think they are okay for me age wise, just worried I might get a few looks Hmm and they might make me look cheap

@youcanthandlethetruth

I am not a fan of them, but on the right body they will look pretty OK - and with a nice jumper they could look nice.

We need to see a pic of you in said leggings/outfit.

Don't disappoint us. Smile Grin

LivingDeadGirlUK · 19/10/2019 22:48

thats a good point re sweating, whats the venue OP? a nights raving might result in a very sweaty crotch.

StellaRockafella · 19/10/2019 22:49

Well done on your weight loss OP! I definitely think you should go for it.

I'm twice your age and I have something similar in black. I mostly wear them with a belted oversized white shirt and always get loads of compliments.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 19/10/2019 22:51

I think they're fab and that if you like them you should absolutely wear them and feel like the fucking Queen of the May while you do so. It's all in the styling, darling...

Craftycorvid · 19/10/2019 22:53

I imagine the beige ones would make it look as though you’d been laminated! Shock

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 19/10/2019 22:53

I think you should go for it OP. Screw what anyone else thinks. Well done on the weight loss.

I would look a hot mess in those but if I had the body I would love to wear stuff like that.

namechange5575 · 19/10/2019 22:54

Yes go for it! You're young, it's the best time to experiment and try new things, you have the glow of youth. You can get away with it. Imagine being 40 and wistfully sighing about never getting to wear the shiny black leggings.

doombaby · 19/10/2019 22:57

bit tacky for me but wear what makes you happy

PurpleDaisies · 19/10/2019 23:00

They look like a prescription for overheating to me. Not a fan at all-tacky despite the price.

rededucator · 19/10/2019 23:01

If you're white please don't get the Cocoa colour, you'll look like a naked Barbie doll. If you're a size 10 or under go for the black or wine colour but I'm a 12 and 5ft8 so not stocky and would definitely not wear them myself.

rainingallday · 19/10/2019 23:06

@youcanthandlethetruth

Yeah there is the sweating issue too...

Don't want to end up like Ross in Friends...

Terramirabilis · 19/10/2019 23:09

You will never be 24 again, and size 8 probably won't last forever.

I think they're great but very unforgiving because of the shininess.

I'm a 10 and no way could I wear these even if I got down to an 8 because I carry weight in my thighs so I will never have slender thighs relative to the rest of me no matter how thin I am.

I think really good legs are needed to carry these off, not just being thin. If you feel like that's you, go for it.

If not, there's tons of things that will suit you at your age and size.

Non-patent leather would be easier to wear well if you want to stick to something similar.

OkayGo · 19/10/2019 23:11

Goodness they're really expensive for something not so nice Sad

OkayGo · 19/10/2019 23:12

Ha actually, reading your update about your age and size I say fuck it!

fantasmasgoria1 · 19/10/2019 23:13

I have some glossy black pvc leggings for £15, i would not call them daring.

OkayGo · 19/10/2019 23:14

Oh god @raspberryk can never unsee

twinkledag · 19/10/2019 23:19

Go for it!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 19/10/2019 23:21

I don’t like them, and think that for not much more money you could get some actual leather trousers. For a lot less money you could get some coated skinnies which would be a lot more versatile. It sounds like you have done great with your weight loss, but I think there are nicer things to show it off.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/10/2019 23:46

I've never been a fan of Friends but that clip really made me laugh.

TigerJoy · 20/10/2019 00:56

Why are you asking this on mumsnet?!

You're 24, have dropped 3 dress sizes and these were your ideal thing to wear when you lost weight. These are reasons enough!

Ignore all the negative comments - go for it and enjoy yourself! You're not 24 forever! I wore some nutso stuff when I was in my 20s and I'm so glad I did. Nb as some other commenters here have said, these are not nutso for your age.

If you're worried about the overall effect then style them down with the other stuff you're wearing, but I think a jumper plus pvc trousers means you will be HOT. I'd go for a loose long t shirt, maybe something with a dropped back if you want to show more skin (cleavage plus these trousers might be a bit much). Or a loose cropped top. Either stilettos or trainers would work with this, and if I were out on a night in london I'd wear trainers (but I'm old)

Have a great night and congrats on the weight loss!

MoltonSilver · 20/10/2019 01:21

Have you seen the matrix?

GeneandFred · 20/10/2019 02:33

I love them. Get them on and don't even think about it. You'll look fab.

dontgobaconmyheart · 20/10/2019 03:10

I think they're just a bit much OP, they look as though they are from Ann Summers or similar and throw off tacky costume at halloween vibes.

Pleather trousers are everwhere this autumn winter though, I think the look you are suggestin works much better with a matte leather/pleather pair and a jumper. I do think they are hard to pull off though, they flatter very few people and i think you need to have no lumps and bumps, a decent bum ( that isn't going to get squished down when you squeeze them on) and the right underwear so there aren't knicker lines.

The idea is fine, that specific pair i wouldn't advise anyone to get. Well done on your weight loss by the way though, that's bloody brilliant!

AliciaQuays · 20/10/2019 03:13

I’ve got some trousers like that. H &m. They are quite daring.

I wear with a very plain loose black top.

Men frickin love them
