Lovely montage of all of Kate’s outfits in Pakistan
I wonder if they are home yet? They are probably dying to have a cuddle with their children!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/10/2019 19:56

More frocks on the Spanish princesses.
I really do not like the colours; they look a bit matronly and Letizia’s dress looks both mad and severe.

Gooseysgirl · 18/10/2019 19:57

I think my favourites were the royal blue (except for the godawful shoes) and the green evening dress. Least favourite was the weird Queen Elsa arrival dress and the Dr Quinn Wild West look.

AppleKatie · 18/10/2019 20:08

The princesses look quite sweet there. The adults look furious and Leti’s dress has got a ‘protester threw paint on me vibe’ 😂

frugalkitty · 18/10/2019 20:18

Thank you for the link to the montage Curly my favourite was the hyacinth blue outfit and the evening gown.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 18/10/2019 20:22

Gosh,
DOC is so beautiful.

StartupRepair · 18/10/2019 20:51

Harry and Meghan went to Southern Africa to represent the Queen. This work seems overshadowed now by 1) the court case about the letter being announced and 2) this documentary about their own suffering. Complete own goal.
Clearly they are both finding it all difficult but as a pp said, it was their idea to marry and have a baby so fast before Meghan had any idea about the culture of the UK or the expectations on the RF. also leaving no time for any meeting with Thomas Markle.
I think there has been a nasty tide of racism but I also think they have made some mis-steps in the way they have handled the last couple of years.

Northernlurker · 18/10/2019 21:05

Oh come on! She's 37. She doesn't have years and years like Kate did if she wanted to have a family. Nobody could reasonably expect the campaign that's waged against her for being a woman of colour and American and it's all about racism, sexism and xenophobia. And now we complain if she and Harry point out that it's fairly horrible to be on the other side of that?

BlingLoving · 18/10/2019 21:09

Well, on baby point I have always suspected they didn't plan the speed. I have soooooo many friends who started trying immediately post marriage on the basis that it would take ages, particularly older friends, who then found themselves pregnant a month later.... according to my fertility doctor, it's because assuming there are no fertility issues and you have enough sex, pregnancy 'usually' takes 1-3 months! SmileSmile

thisenglishlife · 18/10/2019 21:11

H&M will only have influence for a maximum of a decade.
After that, they will be properly middle aged and have less appeal

Then so will Kate and William? William already looks middle aged! There may not even be a royal family after Charles.

BigGreenOlives · 18/10/2019 21:24

Thank you for the new thread Queen. Lovely sari. I really don’t like the dresses on the Spanish Infanta (based on Blackadder) and her sister, they just seem so dull.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 18/10/2019 21:30

William is the future king. He won't have to do much to retain people's interest.

EdWinchester · 18/10/2019 21:47

I’ve come to the conclusion that like princess Di, Kate photographs well but is a terrible public speaker and is lamentably awkward being interviewed. She’s very unnatural.

Meghan on the other hand, is so good when speaking.

MotherofPearl · 18/10/2019 21:50

Apologies if this has been posted already, but doesn't Leti look great here? Love this outfit.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 18/10/2019 21:56

Gorgeous!

Wetdogloveshubert · 18/10/2019 22:12

It was posted on the previous thread @MotherofPearl, but it is still recent.

I think Kate reflects an awful lot of people's awkwardness with public speaking. She's much better than in previous years, but with every word poured over it's no surprise she isn't a 'natural'.

I'll probably watch the Harry and Meghan documentary - it'll be fun to see the outfits again, and some of the joy we only saw snippets of when they were over there. I can't imagine the personal interviews will be central to the program, even if it's the central interest to the public.

FiveTwoFaster · 18/10/2019 23:22

The Kate speaking thing! She is so much better than she was and I think that’s great. Meghan has had 29 years of trying to be a famous actress and is waaaaay better at speaking. The British are more likely to be in favour with Kate who reflects their own nerves but they have seen mature over the past decade, than a confident, beautiful American. The Brits are prone to calling someone confident an upstart - especially a woman. It sucks but Meghan won’t change that and she could avoid the flack for the sake of her own family and mental health.

Meghan has never shown nerves, even on her wedding day. I am SURE people loved Eugenie’s wedding because Jack was clearly absolutely hands-down terrified and the “audience” identified with him. Diana wasn’t hugely confident initially so the public developed with her. Sophie and Fergie had no nerves really and got slated. Women with confidence are shut down. Women with confidence and an education will be called patronising and out of touch. It’s misogyny- Camilla is clearly not shy but she wasn’t going to publicise her weakness or the how unpleasant the ongoing level of paparazzi intrusion with zero security was. She just gritted it out, knowing whatever she said would be thrown at her for decades - she just hunkered down in silence and now she’s the twinkly future consort that winks when Trump drags her off for tea and horror. Meghan cannot win. It sucks but she’s not First Lady. BUT - if they move away they could forge a better and different path.

FiveTwoFaster · 18/10/2019 23:22

20 years! Not 29 years! Gawd.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 18/10/2019 23:34

Harry will be become like Andrew as he ages. Irrelevant.

William & Kate move ever closer to the throne. It won’t matter if they become middle aged, they are the future King & consort.

Loving the outfits.

gingercat02 · 18/10/2019 23:52

I think unfortunately for the Sussex's the press find them interesting or page worthy, while the Cambridge's are dull (but the heirs so necessary)
The coverage of H&M in S Africa on tv news seemed much more than W&K in Pakistan. I worry a bit that Harry will feed the fire by trying to push the press away. If I was them, I would support the charities they love and talk about that and otherwise just smile and wave as per HMQ

pastaparadise · 18/10/2019 23:52

Fivetwofaster You're absolutely right - British culture is not that kind to an outwardly confident woman. Stupid and misogynist, but Meghan is sadly unlikely to change it. I think their best bet is to stay away from the spotlight as much as possible for now. I appreciate that's hard to combine with public duty, as people feel they are owed appearances given how they are financed. but they could do less, especially as Meghan could take advantage of mat leave.

Back to s&b, i loved Kate's outfits from Pakistan trip. The montage a pp posted shows how well the jewel blue suits her.
Is anyone in Pakistan? Interested in how the tour has been received there?

LaBrujaPiruja · 18/10/2019 23:53

Letizia aka Maleficent

Royal style: we want more salwars and we're not sari about it!
LaBrujaPiruja · 18/10/2019 23:59

@MotherofPearl
Letizia’s pink top (well, the full ensemble) is The 2nd Skin Co.

It was stunning and quite “interesting” but I don’t think it was appropriate for the event.

And not particularly flattering.

Itsrebekahvardysaccount · 19/10/2019 00:06

My goodness she’s breathtaking in that blue!! I always thought she suited the dark green but wow.

JaimeBronde · 19/10/2019 01:16

Blimey what has happened to Leti's back? It looks like it's been horse whipped!
