How has Kate received anything like the level of press negativity that Meghan has? Then add in the public comments in right wing newspaper websites and other websites that are due to racism and snobbery.

All the while, the BRF have done nothing to protect her. However, they have released denials about Kate apparently having hair extensions or botox or whatever. Harry and Meghan has been left as targets to cover up negative stories about Andrew, Charles, William, etc. H&M stories are largely either baseless or twisted.

Kate's family are friends with more than one Daily Mail editor and have been friendly with various reporters. William's secretary is friendly with Dan Wootton and others.

The press may not play so nicely with the rest of the BRF in the future, especially after HM's death.

Imagine if Meghan had topless balcony photos, was spotted shouting at a protection officer, caught having her toes sucked, had an affair, took money for access, was caught by a fake sheikh, had a dodgy junkie uncle who punched his wife in public, had her debts paid off by a convicted rapist of teenagers...

Both princes are born into this life, they both have no idea how to survive without financial help from the RF.

They might have to scale down a bit, but aren't they both fairly wealthy from Diana's estate?

thisenglishlife · 27/10/2019 12:49

I do think that Meghan and Harry could make money if not in the royal family and they would receive lots of freebies and discounts and get things borrowed.

There could be book deals, film/TV work produced, blog/instagram, speeches/award ceremonies (even Miranda Hart and Andrew Marr make £25,000 or more for those), advertising, companies created, etc.

I don't believe the press will get much worse now unless they do something scandalous or if they lose a big case.

itswinetime · 27/10/2019 12:52

And if I remember rightly Charles/his expensive or guru used William and Harry to achieve Camilla's transformation... his team leaked stories about the boys first meeting etc didn't they?

I think it's hard to know how supportive or not the royals are of each other behind closed doors...I would never of thought or Charles and Anne as close but then there is a clip somewhere of him making her jump and it seemed a very normal moment.

I hope that behind closed doors the family are being supportive of the couple but publicly we will never see that.

As for what Harry and Meghan should do to change the story I honestly don't know I have been pretty conflicted about them since the documentary on one hand I absolutely agree and have said the press story's on Meghan have been relentless and quite nasty at time I can see how that would be damaging, I can also see how all this brings back up and opens old wounds for Harry. However I can't help but feel as if I was being a bit manipulated by the whole documentary. Which might be Itv's fault they edited it but I'm not sure it was the best move. That said I'm not sure I see how long put up and shut up (or whatever the official line is) can go on for either.

Sorry @QueenOfTheAndals - I have been sitting on my hands and not joining in the diversion from frocks.....

BertrandRussell · 27/10/2019 13:01

I would be amazed if Harry didn’t have enough money for them to live in style and happily for years..... I don’t think anyone knows how the RF’s finances work- presumably it’s kept deliberately murky.

Disfordarkchocolate · 27/10/2019 13:03

I quite like Charles but have no doubt he would throw William and Harry under a bus if he needed to protect his own image.

Disfordarkchocolate · 27/10/2019 13:08

I also think there are a lot of people who have no time for Camilla. She seems nice to me, keeps Charles happy but makes sure she still has a family life without him. She looks very engaged with her charities etc. In reality, women in the royal family are generally allowed to get on with it when the dress demurely, keep fairly quiet, abide by out of date 'rules' and are white. I can't see any reason why Meghan should put up with this, she's clever, articulate and warm. All good things to me.

itswinetime · 27/10/2019 13:08

I agree I don't see them needing the money as a valid reason to stay Harry inherited from Diana and the queen mother and has lived in various royal residences all his life I would be amazed if he has already blown through that money.... he will still inherit (I assume) from the queens private estate and then from Charles even if he never received any money from an interview or book etc I would imagine he could have a high standard of living on all that money alone.

I have no idea of Meghans wealth pre marriage but again I'm sure she has enough to get by on.

thisenglishlife · 27/10/2019 13:12

HM has an art portfolio that is worth hundreds of millions of pounds - even if she gave them a few paintings, they could live off that!

Just saw just this photo of P. Margaret in Dior.

BertrandRussell · 27/10/2019 13:13

Oh my word- that Dior is spectacular!!

thisenglishlife · 27/10/2019 13:14

Charles' team of old grey men have already thrown his sons under the bus numerous times @Disfordarkchocolate

Disfordarkchocolate · 27/10/2019 13:15

The Queen and Princess Margaret wore some fantastic gowns, the press would be aghast is any of the royal family wore the same now. Too low cut, too expensive...

BertrandRussell · 27/10/2019 13:19

Wouldn’t it be amazing if the younger women wore some of those Balenciagas and Chanels and Diors......

queenofarles · 27/10/2019 13:27

Seneca they are very wealthy , but it’s not enough to support them for many years to come.

Public interest in them will die with time , they really must think of other means to generate money. Promotions and talk shows etc etc , is not enough.

Jay Z is a Billionaire thanks to various investments. Not from making songs,

SenecaFalls · 27/10/2019 13:36

Surely Harry's money is invested as well and likely growing.

AdaColeman · 27/10/2019 14:06

@queenofarles Well they are apparently hoping for a life away from publicity, surely that would mean few public engagements or appearances, so of course their life would alter.
Meg also has her own fortune, estimated at four million.

They would have to cut their coat to match their cloth, but a life away from the public eye, how much of a struggle would it be to live on twenty-five million, plus whatever Liz and Charlie leave them?

They could put into practice all their renewable energy, eco warrior, sustainable use ideas to save themselves a few bob too!

thisenglishlife · 27/10/2019 14:18

DOC really suits short hair - shown here short, darker hair vs longer, lighter hair.

She has amazing green eyes.

SerafinaPekkola · 27/10/2019 14:27

“ Well they are apparently hoping for a life away from publicity”
Weird how people keep saying this. When did they say anything of the sort?

SerafinaPekkola · 27/10/2019 14:29

“Jay Z is a Billionaire thanks to various investments. Not from making songs,”

Presumably Harry’s inheritance from his mother has been wisely invested since he was 11?

AdaColeman · 27/10/2019 15:00

That gorgeous Dior frock that Margaret is wearing has prompted me to mention the exhibition of Grace Elvina, Marchioness Curzon of Kedleston's evening wear.

This features designers such as Chanel, Worth, Norman Hartnell (a favourite of Her Maj) and Vionnet, the epitome of style from the 1920s and 1930s.
It's at Pickford's House in Derby till February 2020, and well worth a detour!

Laiste · 27/10/2019 16:18

In response to 'princess school' speculation, i'm reminded me of a something i watched a few years ago about a beautiful finishing school somewhere in Europe. They showed in quite some detail what the girls were taught. I remember a fair bit of it but for some reason these 3 things the most clearly:

  • How to get out of a car in a short skirt without flashing your knickers (I use their method and it works).
  • That a banana must be eaten with a knife and fork.
  • That, conversely, it's fine to eat asparagus (even droopy and dripping butter) with your fingers Confused

So there we go Grin

WineOrGinOrBoth · 27/10/2019 16:22

We were taught the first one at my very small private school. Grin

One teacher also told us how to stand at a bus stop. The headmistress was furious. Our gels do not stand at bus stops, they are driven by their daddy’s chauffeur Grin

thisenglishlife · 27/10/2019 16:24

How do you stand at a bus stop? @WineOrGinOrBoth

Blingandrings · 27/10/2019 16:28

I think most of us could live comfortably on 25 million with more to come for the rest of our lives. I don’t see why they can’t!
