I like Meg's Hugo Boss skirt and the jumper, but I don't think the shades work well together. I'd like to see the skirt with a pearly pinkish grey silk blouse. The skirt is a nice fit!
I like her hair up, but those droopy loops that she has to keep tucking behind her ears are just silly.

Harry looks like a second hand car salesman in that suit!

BlingLoving · 25/10/2019 13:18

For the record, I love the neckline. It's low, but not at all inappropriate. Very flattering.

BertrandRussell · 25/10/2019 13:23

Oh god- Harry’s socks are too short! I know I keep saying it, but he needs to sack his valet. Or get one if he hasn’t got one.

justasking111 · 25/10/2019 13:26

I have just finished watching Mad Men and thought the same when I saw her outfit. This is the look that suits her. She was well dressed in Suits too.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/10/2019 13:39

Nope, don't like it. The top's too low, the skirt's too tight, and doesn't match. I love the berry colour, but it looks badly put together as a look.
And I have absolutely no issue with her carrying extra weight but leather stretched over a baby tummy is not attractive.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/10/2019 13:41

Actually looking again it's the waist that is too tight and creating a bulge.

Rhubarbisevil · 25/10/2019 13:46

I think a silk blouse would have been better, but it’s cold so a jumper is more practical.

thisenglishlife · 25/10/2019 14:01

I liked her little speechy bit at the table - serious, and well considered but she was quite funny too.

She always preps really well and speaks wonderfully - with research shown. I remember KM doing a quick speech at one of her garden projects this year, a really basic thank kind of one... and she looked at her notes every other word.

Encyclo · 25/10/2019 14:09

I love listening to her speak. It's clear she's putting the work in.

Balloondog · 25/10/2019 14:16

Thanks @itswinetime That looks like the one, and even if not, I like it!

WineOrGinOrBoth · 25/10/2019 14:17

I love what’s she’s wearing.

To be fair though she speaks well because that’s her training.

One of my dc is an aspiring actor. At my fils funeral the grandchildren all spoke. My dc knocked everyone else out of the water with how they spoke including my other dc.

thisenglishlife · 25/10/2019 14:53

Meghab had the skills as a child - did she have actor training at that time? It doesn't necessarily make you a good speaker, writer and improviser.

There's a YouTube video of a young Kate acting and singing (My Fair Lady??) - she was confident (and quite good).

BertrandRussell · 25/10/2019 15:05

One of the things that surprises me about the rf is how crap they all are at public speaking. Generally speaking private schools are really good at teaching that sort of thing.

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/10/2019 15:30

Meghan's an excellent public speaker and I don't think it's solely down to her acting training. She manages to sound sincere as well as knowledgeable about her topic, which can be tricky to master.

It's the DM but interesting article about Meghan rewarding her clothes, ditching jewellery and wearing inexpensive frocks to be more relatable.
I bet she reads these threads. It's all the things we've discussed in the last year.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 25/10/2019 15:43

Rewearing, not rewarding

Exactly. My ds is great on his feet and it has taken him a long way. It's definitely a skill worth mastering and not everyone can do it.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/10/2019 15:47

They aren't, you know.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/10/2019 15:49

Call me cynical but that DM article says to me, "'course we love Meghan, M'lud, look at all these lovely things we've been saying about her".

BertrandRussell · 25/10/2019 15:52

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/10/2019 15:55

Of course she could've been intending to rewear her clothes all along but pregnancy prevented her from doing it until now!

Love the colours on MM today but agree that they don't quite go together.

Re the Prince Charles doc, was it a new one? I'm sure I saw one not long ago that had him discussing his 'work'.

frugalkitty · 25/10/2019 16:20

I like Meghan's outfit today except the mismatch of reds. The jumper is a lovely berry shade which has photographed really well, but the skirt is just a bit off. I agree that she's an excellent public speaker, I think the difference between her and Kate is confidence, Meghan already has it, Kate took a long while to find hers.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 25/10/2019 16:26

It was the generally speaking bit that through me. My experience is different from yours then Bert Grin

thisenglishlife · 25/10/2019 16:26

I think that KM doesn't practice/learn her speechs fully. Does someone else write them? I'm not criticising, it's just what I would guess. Maybe I'm wrong and she gets nervous speaking in public.
