HMQ looking much less frail in that picture and a lovely dress with matching shoes 😉

I’m pleased if it is just the recent clothes that have been making her look frail and she’s still strong underneath!

WineOrGinOrBoth · 23/10/2019 22:42

With all the shenanigans (can’t think of a better word) at the moment I hope HMQ is around for a long time.

megletthesecond · 23/10/2019 23:00

HRH looks quite daring in black floral I suppose she doesn't need to wear brights for photos at home.

MotherofPearl · 23/10/2019 23:14

I saw this article today and thought of you lot:

@frugal and @December tha is for explanation. Do clothes type is party result of body type and partly preference?

I think I might do some of this one day when money less tight.

BlingLoving · 23/10/2019 23:22

Thanks for explanation. Bloody phone.

And Discord, Good Luck!!! You are being very brave and I bet your son is very grateful.

Lunde · 23/10/2019 23:30

I'm not totally sure where is was taken but judging by the clothing it was a more informal event with CPV having sushi

WineOrGinOrBoth · 23/10/2019 23:54

There are a lot of events - luckily for us, all those fab outfits Smile

Lunde · 24/10/2019 00:34

Yes there seemed to be the enthronement itself and the gala dinner one day.

The a tea party, a cocktail party and another dinner the next

Plenty of outfits for us - a shame there was no female UK Royal

Bling, it's a long time since I had it done and I'm at our caravan this week so I can't dig out my workbooks from the day.
I do remember that for about 10 mins of the day I had to be in a swimming costume and the consultant took measurements. This wasn't to do with size so much as proportions as part of her analysis of what would look best. Faces also come in different shapes such as oval or soft square. There was also a questionnaire where you gave your instinctive answer rather than thinking too long.
I originally had my colours done to keep my MiL company as she wanted to do it but didn't want to go on her own. I was really impressed that I could save a lot of time and energy when shopping simply by knowing which shades would suit me and go well together. I did the clothing personality analysis about 18 months later and have found it really useful. Both classes have broadened my horizons in terms of colour and style.
I reckon I've saved money over the years because I have the tools to know what to avoid. I haven't got things in my wardrobe that I never wear.

frugalkitty · 24/10/2019 08:27

Bling like Late I also went to House of Colour. Clothing Personality is tied with body shape/size but not only this, it's a yin/yang quiz which helps determine your CP. Some people will take it as set in stone but I'm a bit of a rebel so use it as a guide rather than absolute rules which can't be broken.

banivani · 24/10/2019 08:34

Disappointed with lack of photos from Japan. I want a gallery with high quality pics of everyone. Lots of people there I haven't seen, apparently!

Also was let down by how CPV wore the Ida Sjöstedt embroidered dress - I'm rather fond of Ida Sjöstedt's embroidered look, but it is a lot. The scarf was too much. Svensk Damtidning does refer to her hair as "the power bun" though, confirming our ideas.

Several looks I was a bit let down by. Colour not their best or whatever. It's rare for me! Shame not more kimonos on show on the Japanese, the very ceremonial/festive ones are so gorgeous.

BlingLoving · 24/10/2019 08:42

Does it work even if you are frankly overweight?! Or o you just feel horrible?

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/10/2019 08:57

GFY has a good post on the enthronement. CPM's face in photo 23 is hilarious. I also liked Max's jumpsuit that she wore the next day and the tweedy ODLR suit. Mary's floral day dress was also a winner.

The new Emperor must be due to pay a state visit to the U.K. at some point soon. We need to see more tiaras and gowns!

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/10/2019 09:04

Was the Emperor's daughter at the enthronement? I saw photos of the Crown Prince's daughters but not Naruhito's. She must be about 18 by now so it's not like she's too young to attend.

peridito · 24/10/2019 09:08

Is there an equivalent of the Court Jeweller/tiara stuff for formal male Japanese footwear ?

banivani · 24/10/2019 10:10

Thank you Curly for the GFY link - I should have remembered that they'd do good coverage. Sneaked a quick peak just the now. Roared* laughing at the caption "I like that we're seeing the men in all their Meaningful Pins and Sashes" - exactly. Was just thinking how much I hate them, they block the dresses and stuff. Nobody cares, it's not 1619, it's 2019.

*I did not roar, am stealth-surfing at work.

banivani · 24/10/2019 10:11

Oh, was also wondering what Princess Aiko's role was?

Elllllle · 24/10/2019 10:19

Dress makers can get good enough measurements without making you stand about in a bikini, this seems ludicrous (on the topic of getting your colours/style done).

Love the caption for the pic of CPM rolling her eyes too Grin She looked so much better in the white/cream dress with the sparkly dots than any of those pastel evening dresses.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 24/10/2019 10:40

@banivani
I think that was @QueenOfTheAndals with GFY (was scratching my head to figure what it was!)

Rolling back a bit to the Sari conversation.
You can find vintage saris from India for about a tenner on ebay. That's 6 yards of fabric.

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/10/2019 10:45

Yes I've seen a few saris on eBay @CurlyWurlyTwirly but it's more finding someone to make a blouse that's the problem! Though I suppose you can buy those ready made too.

Bling, it's not tied in with weight. I was still carrying a lot of baby weight and felt really self conscious about the idea. The consultant was very quick and efficient how she measured me and made no reference to actual inch numbers. It's about body shape, not size. It was just a few minutes out of the whole day workshop, the rest of the time I was fully dressed.

One thing the day gave me was the confidence to dress the body I have, rather than hide it. I spent years in boxy tunics thinking they were slimming but all they did was hide my waist and make me look bigger.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 24/10/2019 11:35

Was Princess Aiko missing because she's not in the line of succession? But on that basis Mako wouldn't be either I suppose.
