You think that's weird @AppleKatie, I'm getting catalogues in the post for brands like Monica Vinader and Demelier handbags. All of which we've discussed on these threads but no idea how that works as MN doesn't have my name or address!

The Laurel Wreath tiara that CP Victoria wore in Japan was inherited from Princess Lilian. She was born in Swansea in 1915, and became a fashion model. She was already married when in 1943 she met Prince Bertil, but she divorced soon after.
Bertil was expected to become Regent, due to early deaths, a child heir, and others rejecting their place in the line of succession, so Lilian and Bertil did not marry.
They lived together in Sainte-Maxime for about thirty years. When Carl Gustaf became King on the death of his Grandfather in 1973, Bertil and Lilian were allowed to marry at last.

It will be either Aqua Di Palma or something bespoke by Miller Harris.

BertrandRussell · 23/10/2019 17:51

I reckon she might be a no scent woman, and smell of some very high end shower stuff and hair product.

Rhubarbisevil · 23/10/2019 18:09

Avena - or anything else that’s high end organic.

ElspethFlashman · 23/10/2019 18:10

Meghan appears to have the same amount of hair she had at the Well Child awards last week and on the SA tour

Well yeah, she got extra hair put in during the summer as I said before.

I do wonder whether it is a weave or extensions. It seems to me extensions are far more damaging as they have to be attached to hair that has already been chemically relaxed. So you are damaging the hair in two ways. Whereas with a weave you can leave your hair natural, that is braided, and then the hair is sewn into the braids. You have a risk of traction alopecia of course if your braids are too tight (Naomi Campbell) but you could be careful. At least you can take the weave out and take the braids out and your hair is theoretically fine. That's what Beyonce does, as we often see her with her natural textured hair in between weaves and it's grown super long as she's been able to avoid damage.

ElspethFlashman · 23/10/2019 18:14

Bet she smells gorgeous. Wonder what perfume she wears...?

Oh wait, this is something I do know. She talked about it on The Tig.

There were 2 from Jo Malone. One was the Wood/Sea Sage thingy and one was the Bluebell one.

AdaColeman · 23/10/2019 18:16

Megs will use Shiso, harnessing the healing and mystical powers of flowers, plants and barks, Gwyneth Paltrow's newest fragrance, with an under layer of Burt Bees baby powder. Thanks

BertrandRussell · 23/10/2019 18:19

I’m surprised by the Bluebell. If I was going to pick a Jo Malone it would be the grapefruity one....

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 23/10/2019 18:35

oh interesting, thanks you clever lot! I'm not in the uk but they sell Jo Malone in Sephora so I can go and have a sniff.

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 23/10/2019 18:36

crikey they're not cheap Grin

BlingLoving · 23/10/2019 18:51

If its no malone I will have to hope never to meet her. Stuff makes me sneeze instantly. A woman sitting across from me In office stopped wearing it (bless her) because of my constant sneezing!!

BlingLoving · 23/10/2019 18:52

Aldo, can we talk about having your clothes personality done?! What is that?

WineOrGinOrBoth · 23/10/2019 19:00

All I will say is that if I was a duchess I would be polished within an inch of my life. I don’t even bother to brush my hair most days Blush

Disfordarkchocolate · 23/10/2019 19:18

I am definitely middle-aged but I think showing up looking polished is a mark of respect. She looked poised, engaged and happy to be there.

BertrandRussell · 23/10/2019 19:26

I would love to look polished.

escapade1234 · 23/10/2019 19:30

Of course, Jo Malone sold her brand several years ago. Then regretted it and set up a new line called Jo Loves. The article I read said she spent ages designing the packaging to be as lovely her original stuff - sadly it’s bright red and not as tasteful imho.

Anyway, as you were.

Disfordarkchocolate · 23/10/2019 19:32

I will be the 'mother of the groom' soon, very aware I have no idea how to look polished. I have hardly any eyebrows, never wear much makeup and I last had my hair cut 15 months ago. I need a quick course in how to Duchess!

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/10/2019 19:40

@Disfordarkchocolate a good blow dry, eyebrow pencil and a trip to a makeup counter is needed! Is there a big department store near you?

WineOrGinOrBoth · 23/10/2019 19:56

I had a family do recently & my dsis arranged a hairdresser & make up artist for me. I didn’t recognise myself. Worth every penny. It showed me what I could look like if I made the effort. But I’m too lazy!

Rhubarbisevil · 23/10/2019 19:57

I have the Jo Malone Wood fragrance! ShockGrin. I shall start channelling my inner Meghan and start to wear it more frequently 👸

SenecaFalls · 23/10/2019 20:01

I'll be aunt of the groom in two weeks at a big fancy wedding in Atlanta. I have actually made a getting polished schedule: hair color a week ago; haircut yesterday (don't want either to be too new); manicure/pedicure/eyebrows this weekend, salon blowdry day of wedding.

I think I mentioned on one of the earlier threads that I had an imaginary conversation with you lot every time I tried something on for the two major events. So floor length column royal blue dress with bateau neck (thank you Meghan) for the wedding and a red jumpsuit for the rehearsal dinner. (I'm a winter) I do think y'all would like them both. The jump suit is definitely taking me out of my comfort zone in more ways than one. I can't zip it without help, so my sister has agreed to be my lady-in-waiting and accompany me to the restroom as needed.

EmGee · 23/10/2019 20:04

I've got a Jo Malone perfume. It is a huge bottle bought in 2008 or 2009. Then I had kids and stopped wearing perfume for a few years. It still smells fine after more than ten years!! It's a basil and cedar one or sthg like that. As you were!

Disfordarkchocolate · 23/10/2019 20:07

Thanks, @QueenOfTheAndals, currently agoraphobic so just looking at fancy frocks on the internet. I'm going to ask the mother of the bride where I can go to have my hair put up as the wedding over 200 miles away. Currently putting all my effort into getting the hairdressers in two weeks.
