Mariah- just to stop this thread derailing- I am usually accused of actually being Meghan, or at least a member of her PR team because of my tendency to leap to her defence. I’m sorry I didn’t make my sarcasm clearer.

MariahDontCarey · 23/10/2019 14:11

I KNEW YOU WERE BEING SARCASTIC.

Stop this thread derailing? Christ. Pathetic.

AppleKatie · 23/10/2019 14:16

Wow. Pop to the shops and who knows what you miss on this thread.

😂 anyone want a cup of tea and some dresses?

justasking111 · 23/10/2019 14:25

I think MM is sexy DC not really. The Queen and Margaret wore amazing outfits when young did not do the mumsy bit. Even Beatrice and Eugenie look middle aged in their dress. MM reflects how women dress now so much more. When MM tries the middle aged mother of the bride look it is just frumpy.

purplepalace · 23/10/2019 14:33

I loved her in purple, and I'm so glad to see it didn't cost an arm and a leg, it was very flattering and I loved the way the fabric fell.

Her hair looked amazing too.

@MariahDontCarey you misunderstood the post, you need to chill a little Grin

LochJessMonster · 23/10/2019 14:34

Dammit you two derailing the thread, I want to discus tiaras and my comment was lost in the sea of MM hair posts!!

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/10/2019 14:37

Gah, I hate the Mail but that journo knows her tiaras! Interesting that Mary purchased her own tiara.

Anybody remember when Diana wore that incredibly blingy necklace as a headband? Not exactly tiara news, but it was considered quite controversial at the time...

BertrandRussell · 23/10/2019 14:44

It was blingy-ier in my memory.

The Dutch queen, Emma, for whom Max's tiara was made has an interesting story. Her husband had 3 sons, who all died young, so he had to scramble to remarry and his chosen bride was some 40 years his junior! She had a daughter, Wilhelmina, who was Wax's great-grandmother and the first of 3 consecutive Dutch queens. When Wax was born he was the first male Dutch royal in over 100 years!

I vaguely remember that @BertrandRussell. Did she wear it to dance with John Travolta?

Those of you casting aspersions on "middle-aged" dressing, have you actually thought about what middle-age is? Kate and Meghan, and I imagine many people on this thread, are demographically already nearly there or there. (Some of us are way past there Smile)

AdaColeman · 23/10/2019 14:53

I feel Mathilde let the Belgian side down a bit by only wearing the bandeau element of the Nine Provinces tiara, and not the glorious spiky top element as well! Wink

BertrandRussell · 23/10/2019 14:54

It’s funny- I remember it looking really daring and glam- it just looks a bit silly now, and the emeralds don’t go with the green dress.

AdaColeman · 23/10/2019 14:59

It's a hard life Bertrand when your emeralds don't match the green of your frock! Grin

SenecaFalls · 23/10/2019 14:59

Interesting side note: Queen Emma was the aunt of Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone. Emma's sister, Helena, married Queen Victoria's son Leopold, Alice's father who had hemophilia, and died while Alice was a baby.

BertrandRussell · 23/10/2019 15:00

Story of my life @AdaColeman......

Lunde · 23/10/2019 15:44

CPV's tiara looked much nicer close up than it did from a distance

Onprozacandmyhighhorse · 23/10/2019 15:46

I think Diana wore that headband on a tour to Australia.

Rhubarbisevil · 23/10/2019 16:13

She did indeed. She waltzed with Prince Charles and it was one of the few occasions where they genuinely seemed happy together.

I’m gobsmacked that a Duchess is not allowed to be polished.

Gooseysgirl · 23/10/2019 16:15

I thought KM's dress fitted well yesterday but the poo swirls colour was awful... it desperately needed accessorising with something bright! Loved CPV's blue outfit and CPM's evening outfit.

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 23/10/2019 16:49

Didn't Diana wear the necklace like that because she was sunburnt?

Also loving the purple on MM and thought she dealt well with the awks curtsey/hug combo Grin

Bet she smells gorgeous. Wonder what perfume she wears...?

AppleKatie · 23/10/2019 16:58

Ha! I’ve been hanging around this thread too much- just had a click bait evening standard article advertised to me on FB.

‘Kate wore this £195 ghost dress in Pakistan and nobody noticed’.

I clicked (first mistake!)

And nope no surprise new dress, just the one we discussed on here in the first place Hmm
