Sophia is so so beautiful I know it’s not ‘news’ but in that link especially.

Blingandrings · 23/10/2019 12:10

I do find it odd that Meghan seems to be totally eclipsing Harry. He seems to be shrinking away from public life increasingly. I thought the purple dress looked great, one of my favourite looks on her. However thought the hair was too try hard and Cheryl Cole like. It looks nice, but it's a bit OTT in my view.

Becles · 23/10/2019 12:14

@beanaseireann

I really like most of Kate's wardrobe except her Erdem curtain resemblung evening dress and one or two other evening dresses. She always dresses appropriately.

She does dress appropriately for someone two decades older than her current age.

HM, Princess Margaret, Princess Anne managed to dress their age and yet be appropriate. HM's current uniform only started once she was firmly middle aged and older.

The married in royals across the water - Mary, Letty etx seem able to be appropriate for occasions without channelling the old before their time vibe.

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/10/2019 12:19

Meghan appears to have the same amount of hair she had at the Well Child awards last week and on the SA tour. Maybe an extra bouncy blow dry?

Was Max's day dress Valentino?

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 23/10/2019 12:25

I agree with you @beanaseireann but maybe I'm old before my time too as I'm only a couple of years older than her and really like most things she wears!

FATEdestiny · 23/10/2019 12:30

I'm 6 years older than Doc and with a few exceptions I like and would wear her wardrobe if I could afford it.

I'm not overly fashion forward though and actively prefer "approriate" clothes.

If I were Mother of The Bride (my eldest is 15 so a while yet) I'd wear a coat dress and/or cape gown.

SenecaFalls · 23/10/2019 12:41

I like Kate's clothes, too, for the most part, although I find some of the continental royals more interesting from a fashion standpoint. I try to avoid the notion of dressing too old or too young because it does have potentially ageist pitfalls. I think that Kate is a conservative dresser. She wears what she is comfortable with, which is also a component of being well-dressed and stylish. Her clothes never wear her (well, except for that Erdem 1970s curtain number) and when she does get a bit adventurous (again Erdem, the V&A dress), it is usually a success.

How is having long hair left down 'too try hard' Confused

Disfordarkchocolate · 23/10/2019 12:49

If I had hair like Meghan or Catherine I'd try hard to look like I was a hair model as I walked down the street swishing my hair from side to side.

AudacityOfHope · 23/10/2019 12:55

Same @Disfordarkchocolate Grin

I had my colours done years ago and then went on to have my clothing personality analysed to make clothes shopping easier. I'm a Romantic Engenue so Kate's blue "Laura Ashley/Holly Hobby" dress in Pakistan last week was right up my street.
I suspect that Kate is a Natural Classic in terms of her clothing personality.

LochJessMonster · 23/10/2019 13:22

Am I allowed a DM post? There's no royal bashing in it, I checked!
They have an article of the tiaras worn by various royals at the ascension of the Japanese Emperor.

I love Queen Mary of Denmark's one.

FiveTwoFaster · 23/10/2019 13:29

Kate seems like a conservative person so it seems in tune with her personality to dress conservatively. Meghan’s style is more fashion forward (I really like that purple dress) and I love her casual looks - her NY cape on the baby shower weekend was my favourite maternity look by miles - and she is likely to be naturally more extroverted - or it’s a reasonable assumption to make of someone who has been in the acting world for 15 years or so, and that reflects that too. She’s certainly more daring and fashiony. But Kate does do evening wear so well! The height and slimness is good for full length wow factor. She just looks like a mum with good hair in jeans. Meghan looks sexy in jeans.

It hasn't "been left down" has it? It's been styled to death!

I am not a MM bashers btw. Frankly, I luffs her and wish I looked even a wee bit like her. She's amazing looking.

But her hair does look like Cheryl Cole's hairdresser has had a go and hasn't been shy with the GHDs and high shine hair gloss.

LenoVintura · 23/10/2019 13:38

I think that fundamentally Meghan is more beautiful and sexy than Catherine. Which means that the sort of frumpy dressing the royals traditionally do for engagements isn't convincing on her, just looks wrong somehow. She could afford to be more Max and risk going OTT because she could probably pull it off.

MariahDontCarey · 23/10/2019 13:39

The reason I generally love Meghan's style so much is because she looks like a cool Royal, which you don't see very often. The OTT styling on her hair is the opposite of cool, which is a shame, as the dress is great. A wee messy bun would've looked great, or even just a less 'done' hair down look.

FaithHowellsYellowCoat · 23/10/2019 13:47

Yes her hair does swamp her a bit there. She looks lovely with it pulled back. Maybe it just needs to be a bit shorter - it looks a bit dated being so long.

AudacityOfHope · 23/10/2019 13:47

But straighteners and products are normal for many women on a daily basis. I just don't think actually styling hair is trying too hard. I do it before going to work, why shouldn't she?

BertrandRussell · 23/10/2019 13:56

Just Meghan attention seeking again. How dare she get her hair done.

MariahDontCarey · 23/10/2019 13:56

I never style mine Grin. So proud! But I've definitely noticed that people who look really polished and put together have styled hair. People who look trendy and cool tend not to.

Especially among younger women in London, weirdly..? I'm sure I've heard a Mancunian comedienne doing a 'bit' about ther horror at that. Women getting ready for a night out in london "oh yeah, a bit of dry shampoo, it'll be fine" Shock.

It doesn't mean 'try hard', but it's definitely a different look and I don't think it's a look which she look especially comfortable with.

I read Bertrand post as being ironic / sarcastic, tbh, not critical Confused.

SleepwalkingThroughLife · 23/10/2019 14:04

In the above link of Sofia, she looks a lot like Polly Walker, who is the world's most beautiful woman ever.

True fact.
