@Rhubarbisevil

Completely agree; Harry would love to be the Royal equivalent of a sahd.

StCharlotte · 23/10/2019 08:27

I think Max's dress has a bit of an "upscale Halloween" vibe

She could have worn these...

@paradyning
Thanks for that article about MM.
I do often wonder about her illness when I see her on engagements.
And also when CP Haakon attended the Japanese enthronement alone.
The trip would have been exhausting for her.
No doubt she has the best medical care, but she is so young to have a life limiting illness Sad

Laiste · 23/10/2019 08:27

Interesting idea having Meghan as the main member of the couple when it comes to engagements. A good one IMO, for all the reasons you can give. However, i'm not a royalist and it wouldn't bother me one jot who turned up to cut my ribbon ect. I suspect the majority would want the 'real royal' though.

I laughed this morning at the footage of the woman in cream face planting Meghan's chest Grin Awkward but funny. They both laughed too and good for her for not wanting a curtsey.

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/10/2019 08:37

Anyone know who the designers were for the various enthronement gowns? CPV was in Elie Saab but I haven't been able to find others. Was Letizia in Carolina Herrera?

I don't know @Laiste, I'm sure most would prefer to see Kate rather than William. In fact, both he and Harry do a lot of solo engagements but they never make the headlines unless they're with their wives!

@Laiste
I don’t think people would mind Meghan showing up to an engagement, as the “married in royal”
See: Diana; Kate
I think it would be the perfect solution

That aborted curtesy was #awkward Grin

Horsemad · 23/10/2019 08:57

I agree re Harry as a sahd. Meghan would be perfect in a Sophie Wessex role.

I thought most of the dresses at the Japanese Enthronement were lovely. Particularly Max's, it suited her totally.

StartupRepair · 23/10/2019 09:01

I thought Max's outfit was iconic. Stunning.

BlingLoving · 23/10/2019 09:29

I couldn't work out if the ridiculously OTT curtsey was almost a little joke from the woman - I think they already know each other and are friends and clearly they were both desperate for a big hug. Like an in joke. But in appropriate in the spot and just looked awkward.

I think Meghan has no issues with these kind of events. She said herself that she doesn't mind the spotlight and the scrutiny. It's the lies she has an issue with. So I think she's perfectly happy to turn up and be photographed and even to accept a certain amount of attention on her personal life. She just doesn't want the press to write in today's papers that she had told everyone they had to curtsey and then they were all confused when she told them not to in public (for example, this is not a real thing).

Kate's brown dress is fine but so incredibly BORING. If you're going for the casual smart day dress, at least make it an interesting print or colour.

LaBrujaPiruja · 23/10/2019 09:30

@QueenOfTheAndals
Letizia’s flowery number is by Matilde Cano. I had never heard of her before yesterday, appears she is a Andalucía-based designer, specialised in eveningwear.

www.matildecano.es/

The pink/silver one is Carolina Herrera.

LaBrujaPiruja · 23/10/2019 09:34

A Córdoba based designer, changed to Andalucía before posting, but for what I can see her base is Córdoba.

ElspethFlashman · 23/10/2019 09:40

I saw a few videos on Instagram and Letizia could barely walk in that pink number. I don't know if it was too heavy, had too much tulle or was a touch too long, but she had to literally kick it forward with each step and she kept having to look carefully at the ground and hold onto Felipe for dear life.

I suspect she was dismayed to find out last minute how cumbersome it was but you just have to make the best of it.

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/10/2019 09:43

Thanks @LaBrujaPiruja, I meant the pink and silver one so I was right about it being CH. Being on these threads has made it easier to identify certain designers!

I liked Leticia’s flowery dress yesterday.

I think I’m in a minority of one though. Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/10/2019 10:30

No, I liked it on second glance too. And she had an Anne Boleyn headband!

OP posts:
LaBrujaPiruja · 23/10/2019 10:31

I didn’t like any of Letizia’s dresses yesterday.
The flowery one was particularly hideous and out of place. I have no words for the green belt.
In fact, I didn’t particularly like any of the dresses I saw, although I think Victoria, Mary and Máxima looked great.

LaBrujaPiruja · 23/10/2019 10:35

Letizia + flowery dress = Sheikha Moza of Qatar (psychedelic 70s versión)

beanaseireann · 23/10/2019 10:51

I thought Meghan looked amazing in the purple dres. She is so beautiful.
I loved Leti's pink ballgown but disliked the day ( formal) dress she wore- it was too "busy".
A nod to chrysanthemums would have done - not the whole bouquet Smile. I felt the Spanish sash got lost amongst the dress.
CPM looked a bit "washed out" in the day gown.
Max's evening gown was too ott. But I don't like chevron. It was a bit pantomine dame. She looked fab though.
Princess Anne was in Japan for the rugby - supporting Scotland, but they went home earlier than expected so I presume she left too before the Japenese enthronement.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 23/10/2019 11:02

See, I don’t think purple is Meghan’s colour. She did look good, of course, but she looks better in other colours.

Very glossy hair though.

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/10/2019 11:02

I love a caped dress but agree that the colour washed Mary out. Her hat and bag were a gorgeous shade of plum and I kept thinking how much better it would've been if the dress was plum instead of the accessories.

A bit of HCP is what we all need on this chilly autumnal morning. I like Sofia's dress too, albeit without the belt.

Does Meghan have hair extensions? Where did all that hair come from??

beanaseireann · 23/10/2019 11:58

I must be very unstylish as I really like most of Kate's wardrobe except her Erdem curtain resemblung evening dress and one or two other evening dresses. She always dresses appropriately.
I think she gets s hard time on these threads re her clothing.
I agree re Meghan - she should ditch the belted dresses/ coats.
They don't flatter her.

BertrandRussell · 23/10/2019 12:03

I remember someone posting on here that both Meghan and Kate have hair extensions and that’s why they are touching their hair all the time. Not sure why though....
