I think Kate's dress suits her. I like the colour and style on her. It looks like something she could go straight onto a meeting in once she's finished dropping off at the school.
Good to see William's come in his "uniform" too! That's said with affection, not snideiness. My mum nearly always wears the same clothes to any event and my sons call it " Grandma's uniform."

Kate's hair and tan look fabulous but the dress screams building society uniform to me.

That is some tan Kate has going on there! Shame she didn't wear her dress with white trainers as per MN style and sans belt.

But she is colour co-ordinated, as always.

I think Kate and William are perfectly dressed for the occasion. They can’t be too casual when their children are in school uniform, so they’re dressed down just a little with flat shoes, odd blazer, no tie. We’re not supposed to be excited by their clothes here.

Her tan is verging on tangoed.

Love those sensible shoes on the children. Brings back memories for being fitted for Start-Rites. George is in loafers!

Yes- I was a bit surprised at the loafers. I suppose they have indoor shoes and trainers for actually wearing during the day.

The loafers will be so much easier for changing for PE lessons.

No Lelli Kelly Bow shoes for Charlotte then . my girls are mad about them, but their school uniform is very strict.

I’d just like to see the DofC in jeans and a hoodie. Posh versions thereof of course! . But she looks so old before her time.

Dreaded DM says it's an LK Bennett dress.

And it was last time too - she apparently called in a stylist and hairdresser for George's first day. Who can blame her, if that's true? We're going to see these pictures for decades.

I think Kate looks great. Agree with a PP that this isn't the moment for some hardcore fashion moment. She's wearing a dress and her hair looks fabulous. I'd be inclined to have worn lower heals or something, but this is the DoC with the world watching.

I liked how she was the lead - it's clear that when it comes to school etc she's the school mum who knows the teachers and the school etc. William is the dad who does the odd pick up and drop off and waves at a few of the other parents he knows but doesn't have a clue otherwise!

I like both Kate's and the headmistress' dresses. I do envy them the opportunity to wear them. They'd be far too dressy for either my work or home life.
