There was a video of the Queen watching part of the Crown with Harry - she was commenting on the bits with Edward VIII

How about this for a throwback? George V and Princess Mary. That riding habit is so elegant! Although George's seat... not exactly classical riding there (to be fair it seems pretty typical of the era, based on old bunting prints and the like). My old instructor would have Words. A fair few of them too!

RIP Peter Lindbergh. I really loved his work.
Great photo with Meghan.
I did however find her language difficult to read on the Instagram post; so didn’t bother. She really needs to edit her flowery language.

@Curly
I agree. It is garbled, and why is she talking about herself in the third person? It's weird. I also find it self important in tone.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/09/2019 19:31

@lavenderandthyme Her staff probably wrote it, hence the use of the third person. As for self-important, there's a lot of people paying tribute to him on IG right now.

I didn't find it too hard to read. It was nowhere near as long-winded as Sussex posts usually are.

How bizarre to say that Instagram post is flowery. It seems perfectly straight forward to me.
A perfect example of how Meghan can do nothing right.

NoTheresa · 04/09/2019 19:53

It’s purple prose and the use of the 3rd person is ludicrous!

Some of the replies following the post are interesting. Someone said they thought it was her estranged parent. Well, the word “father” was used but the former is more apt, really. I actually did, too.

BertrandRussell · 04/09/2019 19:55

Use of the 3rd person is quite usual in such things. And if that’s “purple prose......”

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/09/2019 20:07

Is the use of the third person always ludicrous or only ludicrous when Meghan does it?

From Kensington Royal on Kate:
"The Duchess has a longstanding interest in photography, and her patronage will further highlight the beneficial impact that art and creativity can have on emotional wellbeing, particularly for children and young people."

From Clarence House on Camilla:
"The visit coincided with Her Royal Highness’s birthday, and as a present The Duchess was invited to name the sanctuary’s new foal! HRH decided on the name Sweetpea, and will receive updates on the little donkey’s progress as she grows up."

Confused they are always in the 3rd person because they are not meant to be from the royal themselves. Just their team. Royals don’t do social media.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/09/2019 20:12

And on the occasion that it actually is them posting, they usually say so. William and Harry have both posted on IG and Twitter in the past but always sign off with a W or H to indicate it's them and not their staff. Even HM posted on IG a while ago, signing off with ER!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 04/09/2019 20:37

My feeling when reading the tribute was that whoever wrote it has made it too much about Meghan. The photo is lovely though.

itswinetime · 04/09/2019 20:40

On the whole I find all the royal post lately long winded I know it's Because they are meant to be about raising awareness of the cause but to be honest they are just long and make me switch off a bit. The Sussex's fo seem to be the worst for information overload. But then they are using social media in a different way to the others and they have a Massive following so it must be working for some 🤷🏻‍♀️

Today's Post I didn't have an issue with though it was very much in the tone of the other condolences that I have seen. It's a beautiful photo too.

pastaparadise · 04/09/2019 21:13

I wonder if the royals watch The Windsors on c4? And if so, if they find it annoying or funny to see the parodies? I'd love to see one about my own family!

Labrodite · 04/09/2019 21:27

I don’t know much about materials, construction etc. – can I ask, what is the difference between designer clothes and high end high street clothes which means that the former will be easier to preserve than the latter?

Labrodite · 04/09/2019 21:30

I do find the Sussex approach to Instagram a bit odd but I imagine/hope they will refine it over time.

How strange must it be to be the royal family and have documentaries, films and TV shows made about you?! I can’t imagine.

Wetdogloveshubert · 04/09/2019 21:41

Apparently we will get Meghan launching the new smart works collection next week.

Labrodite · 04/09/2019 21:49

That’s good news! I’m looking for full time work at the moment (hate my current temporary job!) so I’m really looking forward to the workwear collection Smile

BertrandRussell · 04/09/2019 21:53

“That’s good news! I’m looking for full time work at the moment (hate my current temporary job!)”

I suspect you don’t know what Smart Works is about....

queenofarles · 04/09/2019 22:04

labrodite I imagine the made to measure stuff by Catherine walker and McQueen are all made using the highest quality Wool and silk. With time they don’t Deteriorate. Also and this is just me,
Looking at all the clothes Kate wore, for formal occasions, the walkers, wiksteads, McQueens, I imagine if they ever did a retrospective in the future they would look timeless and regal/
I think the Issa and Riess Dresses are bit Blingy/TOWIE-ish. Her style has changed dramatically since then.

queenofarles · 04/09/2019 22:11

I’ve been following India Hicks gram and terribly saddened by the destruction in the Bahamas,
I’m really surprised none of the royals , and I’m not pointing fingers at anyone in particular, I’m talking about all of them,
not a single post about it. So shocking!

Wetdogloveshubert · 04/09/2019 22:15

@BertrandRussell then you haven't been keeping up. Smart works is working in association with a number of brands, including Jigsaw and John Lewis to bring out four pieces. For every one sold, one will be donated to the charity.

Here are some pictures of Zara walking the grounds at Burghley. I love her offduty looks; she's very relatable.

the Queen did post. She actually called herself the Queen of the Bahamas.

queenofarles · 04/09/2019 22:21

Was it on Twitter Curly ?
Hope the Queen of the Bahamas is sending in aid.

Gooseysgirl · 04/09/2019 22:24

Wow Zara looks great!
