I'm mixing up some margarita pitchers, anyone want a glass? I'm still working tomorrow but pretending I'm not and that my bh weekend has started early. Thanks for keeping these threads going Queen - they're keeping me sane :-)

justasking111 · 22/08/2019 17:46

What a little gem I found the ghillies ball at balmoral, the queen narrating over it.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 22/08/2019 17:47

Pimms for me, please!

Alwayscheerful · 22/08/2019 18:05

Aperol and soda please.🍊

Laiste · 22/08/2019 18:08

JD and cherry coke?

TipseyTorvey · 22/08/2019 18:12

@justasking111 that video brilliant but so nostalgic and old fashioned I can barely believe it's at a time when I was going clubbing in London in DM's. Makes me think that the RF are there to slow down the rapid pace of progress with duty and tradition. Much as I love the fashion and gossip on these threads I can't believe they'll carry on for much longer in the way they have. They seem so out of touch compared to the Euro Royals.

Gooseysgirl · 22/08/2019 18:41

🍷 to Christina

(✈️ The DM are a bunch of fuckos. And that's all I have to say on that)

Now back to the fashion 👑👒👛👗

BertrandRussell · 22/08/2019 18:48

I was thinking what a very restrained 8some. Then I saw the QM- who must already have been approaching 427.....
Style and beauty would have had a few words about some of those bras.......

paradyning · 22/08/2019 18:52

That is the most sedate reel I've ever seen!

BertrandRussell · 22/08/2019 19:01

Yes- normally an 8some would have tiaras flying off and bouncing off the walls. I remember at such events we were quite snooty about 8somes - it was the Reel of the 51st that marked out the proper reelers.....

Spudlet · 22/08/2019 19:03

Thinking back to the ceilidhs I have attended:

The vicar’s wife was thrown into a potted tree (friend’s wedding reception. Both wife and tree were unscathed)

I nearly banged my head off the ceiling during an enthusiastic lift (my wedding reception!)

I was nearly flung from the dance floor by an enthusiastic partner (work Christmas party)

The Royals need to up their cielidh game. I didn’t see anyone go airborne at all and there was no apparent property damage Shock

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 22/08/2019 19:06

So far as we could see on camera @Spudlet

Spudlet · 22/08/2019 19:07

Very true. I’d have liked to have seen Princess Do fly through the shot at high speed Grin

Spudlet · 22/08/2019 19:07

Di!

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/08/2019 19:07

The only ceilidh I've been to was at a wedding where there was 2-3 hours between the ceremony and the wedding breakfast. All that was served in those hours were a few canapés and a LOT of wine. Well you can imagine the state of us by the time the dancing started...

JaimeBronde · 22/08/2019 19:15

I dread to think Queen Grin any broken bones?

Did someone say Tequila! Yes please!
Isn't HM's favourite tipple Dubonnet & Gin? I've tried it & it is rather nice.

JaimeBronde · 22/08/2019 19:16

Oh & thank you for the new thread.
And my finger slipped when writing the first post hence the post of 'I d'.
And I haven't had a drink yet!

justasking111 · 22/08/2019 19:17

I went to an Irish wedding, fiddles and accordians after a very heavy feast. Was absolutely wonderful. I was an eight year old bridesmaid, loved every moment. Sadly threw up during the night much to my mothers dismay. I think I over jigged my food.

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/08/2019 19:22

Alas I have no Aperol but I do have a can of Pimms in the fridge somewhere, Chambord, and strawberry Baileys!

We seem to have lost some of the stalwarts from our early threads but perhaps you're all still here but have name changed!

Checking in. Although app playing up again and I doubt it will help me find you later!!

I'll join the margarita crowd. I had one last week which was awful. Apparently they used a different type of tequila. Ick.

justasking111 · 22/08/2019 19:32

A lovely shot of the Queen mother. The queen dancing in Malta.

I wonder if it was more fun in Balmoral in those days. It does not sound very exciting these days unless you like hunting and fishing.

I reckon the RF would have been pretty tiddly from lunchtime onwards.
Apparently the QM had a bottle of champagne left next to her throughout the meal. ( Not sure if that was lunch or dinner)
