Anyone up for a live personal shopper thread?

I'm in John Lewis at the moment at my personal shopper appointment. I booked it to find a dress for a family wedding but I've now found that dress (Coast swishy princess dress for those who saw my other thread!).

I'm on maternity leave but back in work soon so thought I'd do a work wear session instead. My shape has completely changed after having my second baby 11 months ago so nothing fits right Sad

Just met the personal stylist. He seems lovely. He's gone to find me some new clothes!

I'll post when he's out of the room, obviously don't want to be rude being on my phone while he is here!

I seriously can't believe I can be an F cup?!!! Does that mean I've been wearing the wrong bra size for my whole life?! Confused

This is such a revelation!

Yep probably

Greyhound22 · 28/07/2019 07:55

M&S always had me as a C cup when I'm actually a FF/G

Wallywobbles · 28/07/2019 08:13

My bravissimo bras are great.

SpeckledyHen · 28/07/2019 08:41

I went into Rigby and Peller wearing 38C and came out 34F . It transformed my figure and the look of my clothes dramatically.

hopeishere · 28/07/2019 09:15

My boobs changed after having kids so yours probably have too.

What's your colouring? The other thing my stylist got me to do was wear more colour. I did actually know brighter colour suited me better but I'd put on weight so was shying away from it. The mix of pale blue and then the rusty red top / geo dress makes me wonder if they were taking your colours into account.

MustardMonster · 28/07/2019 09:38

Yep I always wore a 36b and got fitted properly at Bravissimo and I'm actually a 32G! My clothes fit so much better now. My back fat near enough disappeared!

Another vote for Styled by Susie on fb. You really are trying the wrong shapes for your figure. That geometric dress swamped you and didn't look good (sorry to be blunt!).

Rivkka · 28/07/2019 10:31

I tried the bra interventions but found the strap way too tight

Milliy · 28/07/2019 11:14

I've heard many personal stylists complain about shop stylists as they are trying to push their stock and commission and so they are not good on taking into consideration your shape or colours.

Tootytata · 28/07/2019 12:14

This is the Hobbs faux wrap dress I bought from JL.

Lovely! It'll look even better when you've got a well-fitting bra on.

Tootytata · 28/07/2019 12:24

Think mumsnet HQ have forgotten about us Sad they've not posted the pictures I sent them yesterday.

Here are some more things I tried at JL but didn't buy.

That Hobbs dress is lovely. I like the spotty one as well.

HairyDogsInUnusualPlaces · 28/07/2019 12:28

I don't know how old you are op, but some of those dresses would add years to you, they look very matronly.

TheNightof1000Fans · 28/07/2019 12:35

That last dress suits you soooo much more that the other higher necklines. Also when you put on a proper bra (not a C cup!!!) it’ll look even better!

HJWT · 28/07/2019 12:37

The spotty dress looks great x

MustardMonster · 28/07/2019 12:38

The wrap dress is great. That's definitely along the right lines of what style/shape you should be wearing. You definitely don't look like a size 18 Shock

MustardMonster · 28/07/2019 12:39

Forgot to add I would say more 14/small 16!

Myshitisreal · 28/07/2019 12:44

Totally over invested in this. Bravissimo definitely worth a visit coming from a 34h here

I like the spotty dress. I think you're very brave, I couldn't see me doing this. It's really interesting to read about your experience 😊

Tootytata · 28/07/2019 12:50

Now for the duds from Debenhams...

The band on bras is meant yo be really tight to start with. It holds them up, not thecshpulde straps. Obviously you should be able to breathe but tight. Start on the loose hole move gradually to the small hole.
M&S rubbish. They reckon I'm a 32 or 34 B. At the time I was a 28FF got measured in rugby and peller. Although they don't use a measure they just look at you. I was shocked i could be a ff. But its because im only a 28, really narrow at the back.

Tootytata · 28/07/2019 12:57

Only posted 4 photos but I'm out of photo posting allowance again! I'll post more duds from Debenhams tomorrow Smile

I'm going to Bravissimo next weekend to get myself measured. I'm still in shock that I could be an F cup (but currently wearing a C cup)! I feel like I fill a C cup though. The cups of the bra go all around my breasts so had no reason to think I was wearing the wrong size bra!

Hairydogs - I'm late 30s. I liked the cut of the spotty dress but couldn't get over the big spottiness of it!

Chilledout11 · 28/07/2019 13:03

I loved the striped dress from yesterday. Really appreciate this thread wish I had the courage to do a personal shopping experience.

Tootytata · 28/07/2019 13:12

Chilledout11 - you should do it! It's free and you could walk out without buying anything if you don't like any of the items enough. You don't even have to show the personal shopper the clothes on you if it makes you uncomfortable. Just tell them at the start of the appointment so they know.
