Anyone up for a live personal shopper thread?

I'm in John Lewis at the moment at my personal shopper appointment. I booked it to find a dress for a family wedding but I've now found that dress (Coast swishy princess dress for those who saw my other thread!).

I'm on maternity leave but back in work soon so thought I'd do a work wear session instead. My shape has completely changed after having my second baby 11 months ago so nothing fits right Sad

Just met the personal stylist. He seems lovely. He's gone to find me some new clothes!

I'll post when he's out of the room, obviously don't want to be rude being on my phone while he is here!

I'm going to be honest. You have a big bust (as do I) and I don't think any of what you're showing is working with that.

I did a personal shopper session and she said v necks were more flattering and prevented a shelf boob effect which is what the blue dress is giving you. Also the rust top is hanging straight from your boobs and making you look bigger thank you are.

dizzy174 · 27/07/2019 11:45

echo, great thread idea

ZaZathecat · 27/07/2019 11:45

Oh the stripey dress knocks the other 2 outfits out of the park - so flattering!

ZaZathecat · 27/07/2019 11:48

I also agree with hope the neckline on the blue dress causes shelf-boob and the cap sleeves are widening, adding to the top heavy look. Stripey one looks great.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/07/2019 11:48

The striped dress looks a bit big - is it just the photo? Maybe try a size down?

Sorry but I really hate the blue colour of the dress.

LaurieFairyCake · 27/07/2019 11:49

I also think the stripy one is fabulous

I do like the pale blue one but it's very summery

I'd get loads of use out of that red top - where's it from? It's perfect under a cardie for winter as well as on its own in the other seasons

Villanellesproudmum · 27/07/2019 11:52

Am I the only one really not liking the stripe dress? Does the neckline open on the blue dress?

Tootytata · 27/07/2019 11:55

Geometric shirt dress from Hobbs? Had to get size 16 in this cos size 18 was too big.

The print & shape look good but not sure about the neckline

Tootytata · 27/07/2019 12:00

I have a Debenhams personal shopper apt this afternoon as well. Hubby might not be happy at how much money I'm going to spend today. Oh well...I never get to go out nowadays! Might as well enjoy it

I think the blue dress would work better with no sleeves & a lower neck, doesn’t have to be v neck. A pp was right that it’s adding width at the top.

AnotherEmma · 27/07/2019 12:03

What's with all the high necklines?
Sorry OP but this is just confirming why I've been reluctant to book a personal shopper.
I'm curvy with big boobs and would touch those necklines with a barge pole.

AnotherEmma · 27/07/2019 12:03

*wouldnt

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/07/2019 12:04

Not liking that one, sorry.

I agree that you need to try some dresses with lower necklines.

HairyDogsInUnusualPlaces · 27/07/2019 12:12

Loving this thread, what a great idea!
I'm getting lots of ideas off the back of what works on you.
@MNHQ, please up OP's pic allowance for today.
I love the first outfit. And i like the stripey dress, but agree it looks like its not quite the right size for you.

Tootytata · 27/07/2019 12:13

I've taken everyone's advice and asked him to find some dresses with lower necklines!

HairyDogsInUnusualPlaces · 27/07/2019 12:13

Geometric one is great, but neckline is wrong.

Tootytata · 27/07/2019 12:14

Damn...really liked the geometric dress. Would've definitely preferred a lower neckline on it though. Was thinking of buying it but unsure now.

OP posts:
fancynancyclancy · 27/07/2019 12:15

does the neck open?

Rivkka · 27/07/2019 12:15

Geometric is swamping you.

Tootytata · 27/07/2019 12:15

How do I contact mumsnet HQ to beg for more photo allowance?!

OP posts:
Tootytata · 27/07/2019 12:16

Fancy - the neckline does open since there are buttons right to the top but it doesn't appear v neck when opened Sad

Villanellesproudmum · 27/07/2019 12:18

An you report your thread to ask? The Geo one is different, not sure good or bad but quite striking. Looks a little big on you.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/07/2019 12:18

I've 'reported' you, in an attempt to beg for more photo allowance. Fingers crossed! Grin

Tootytata · 27/07/2019 12:18

Thanks Remus!!Grin
