On every thread where someone posts a picture of sandals to ask for advice, theres always a chorus of 'hideous', 'granny', 'fugly' etc. So please share some photos of sandals that you think are nice, stylish, chic, non-stomach-churning, whatever. Bear in mind that many of us need sandals to be comfortable and suitable for lots of walking. I promise no snarky comments!

Birkenstock arizonas. Everyone compliments. Older ladies to 7 year olds Grin

Alsohuman · 15/04/2019 18:14

Having been told my (quite deliberately fugly) sandals are apparently hideous, I’m staying out of this and watching avidly.

Lottapianos · 15/04/2019 18:22

Blondie, they're v nice, but not a style I could walk far in, or drive probably

Look on en Brogue Instagram, scroll back to last summer.

tierraJ · 15/04/2019 18:53

These are mine from River Island.

Well I like them anyway as they're comfy & go with my jeans, shorts & skirts, I like the colour.

See those ones posted so far are far too pretty and dainty for my troll feet! I am size 7 and so wide that I cannot even get my feet into most sandals.

I had a pair of Office copy birkenstocks and whilst they have lasted a good few years, after a day of school runs my feet and legs ached.

Is it possible to find a pair of sandals that look nice, are wide, and comfortable for around 5-6 miles of walking every day?

QuestionableMouse · 15/04/2019 19:17

I need wide ones with a decent strap and no toe post. Bit stumped at the moment but I'm sure I'll get something.

or end up with 90p ones from primark again

I'm a big fan of Ancient Greek Sandals after DH bought me a pair three years ago. I've now got about 5 pairs. Extremely comfortable, leather and really stylish.

Lottapianos · 15/04/2019 19:26

They're lovely tierra

Damn your eyes! Just looked at Ancient Greek sandals and I now want several pairs.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 15/04/2019 19:31

I'm thinking about these although I'm not sure if they will be a bit plasticy.

Thanks Lotta

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 15/04/2019 19:32

Should have clarified, they are vegan so I'm not sure of the fabrics used.

tierraJ · 15/04/2019 19:33

The sandals I've posted also come in Wide Fit

SueGeneris · 15/04/2019 19:36

I've had several pairs of Sanuk yoga slings. V comfortable, stay on feet well, and there are lots of different colours.

But mine aren't hideous - I think

Fairylea · 15/04/2019 21:49

I have just purchased two pairs of saltwater sandals - yellow ones and red ones. I know they’re like marmite on mumsnet, love or hate them etc. I think they’re lovely, and they’re very comfortable- although they don’t have any padding underfoot.

I also love Birkenstock’s but dh absolutely hates them Grin I don’t give a toss and wear them regardless. I just think it’s amusing how much he really hates them.

Refilona · 15/04/2019 21:53

Tierra’s and MotherForkin’s are nice, all the other ones I find very ugly - I think sandals is a very polarising subject!
