My hair is meh

I really really would like better hair. It’s my birthday soon and my mum has offered for me to go and have it done properly somewhere nice! It’s not been cut for about 8 months. I find it a bit stressful (and expensive) going to the hairdressers. I feel like a change but I don’t think there’s much I can do with it? I will be 37 so knocking on a bit now... secretly I’d quite like pink put in the ends of it 😂
Here is how is looks most days.

Anyone - colour or style?

Hi, I think you need to do something more modern with the fringe / top bit (circled). What about a flatter side fringe, with layers around your face? Are you happy with the colour? What’s your natural colour?

You have a lovely face but I don't think your hair is doing much for you at the moment. To be frank it looks...........a bit 1980s. I'd lose the wispy fringe and as your hair is quite fine I'd lob a few inches off the end to make it seem thicker. As for colour I think you might look better with a richer hair colour? Have you ever been a brunette? Or if that sounds too drastic maybe a darker more honey blonde?

Oh and 37 years old? Practically a foetus! 'Knocking on' my eye!

Chicksinonebasket · 05/04/2019 20:21

Dark blond is my natural colour, lightens significantly in the summer.
Yeah I don’t know what to do with the fringe! It’s been like that for years

Candelglow went straight to the point with the red circle of shame! Grin

Chicksinonebasket · 05/04/2019 20:22

What can you do with a fringe while it is growing out?

OP posts:
Shmoople · 05/04/2019 20:24

It's quite a light fringe so you can just blow dry it to the side and it should blend in with the rest of your hair.

MutantDisco · 05/04/2019 20:25

You're my age(ish). Fringes seem to be 'out' at the moment and people are going for long-ish hair with a few layers through the ends.

I agree with PP that a more 'caramel' colour would be really flattering - maybe some balayage on a darker base colour? I'm thinking of asking for this next time I get a spare 3 hours to myself

Chicksinonebasket · 05/04/2019 20:27

I know Murant - it’s having the time and money for the upkeep of it too isn’t it?

mutant sorry.
The trouble is I hate the fringe but without it I look even older?!

I am contemplating a paper bag 😂

My DD 10 has just grown a really thick fringe out, you change your parting to the side and blow dry it over, and get it gradually more snipped into the rest when you get it trimmed.
I think your fringe would be easy to grow out as it’s quite a light fringe now.
I’ve attached a pic which isn’t far off where you are now but is s bit more modern.

Oops no pic

I think you would suit a sharp chin length bob or a pixie cut. You've got big eyes which I think could pull it off.

Chicksinonebasket · 05/04/2019 20:40

Those photos are lovely.

Ok so I’ve pushed it to the side and I now look 50 😂 which is fine except I’m only 36...
I can either look older than I am or have shit hair...

Better...or worse. I think I need to go and get the colour done properly.

Better to side and you don’t look older!

SpaSushi · 05/04/2019 20:51

I agree that shorter would look lovely.

Re the side sweep, you haven't got the parting far enough. Currently you've got it above inner eye, it needs to be middle to outer eye. You may need to cut more of your longer hair into the fringe to give some length to sweep

Chicksinonebasket · 05/04/2019 20:51

I know it needs two or three inches off it... it’s definitively too long.

Ellieboolou27 · 05/04/2019 20:54

Your very pretty!
A full fringe with a longer blunt bob and a darker shade would look great on you. Great jawline and eyes to carry it off.

Chicksinonebasket · 05/04/2019 20:56

Like this? I suffer from resting bitch face...
