my ds (2.10)has past collar length wavy blond hair. I love it and every day someone comments on how lovely it is. Its defo worth having a really decent hairdresser tho wo 'gets' long hair on boys.

OrmIrian · 13/07/2007 20:57

nanoon - some of them here don't 'get' long hair. Just before DD was starting school I took her and her older brother to get haircuts specifying that DS#1 only needed a trim as we liked it longer than the normal-for-here crew cut, but DD's needed a short bob to keep it tidy for school. DS came out looking like he'd just joined up and DD looked more or less the same (I had to ask them to take more off). Girls have long hair and boys have short hair - so it is written ...apparently.

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 13/07/2007 21:23

we went to the hairdressers. it's now layered and shorter than it was but still longish. not a pageboy any more.

looks lovely, but he looks so different.

Hulababy · 13/07/2007 21:26

I like long on hair on little boys; looks sweet.

Twinklemegan · 13/07/2007 22:38

Mine has a kind of school boy haircut. I don't like it going too far over his ears, but I'd never ever crew cut it either. He's only 11 months though so it's a bit hit and miss at the mo.

Clary · 13/07/2007 22:59

Not keen on crewcuts on small boys.

Don't mind long hair in a kind of bodeny- surf-dude fashion. You do run the risk of looking like a girl tho. DS2 knows a boy called Jess or Jessie (girl's name?) with shoulder-length blond hair (girlish?) He's only 3 tho.

What I really don't like is those pudding basin cuts of very heavy smooth hair like the boy in that film with Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney. American's think it sweet apparently.

Wonder why so many posters think the only alternative to shoulder-length hair is a crewcut? My DSs have neither actually.

Clary · 13/07/2007 23:02

http://i.imdb.com/Photos/Ss/0117247/fineday9.jpg this I am really not keen on

Clary · 13/07/2007 23:03

Gah flippin new links

this

ApuNahasapeemapetilon · 13/07/2007 23:04

yeah yanks love a bowl cut - blunt and swishy ewwwwww

Twinklemegan · 13/07/2007 23:04

Worst haircut is a toss up between the crew cut and the pudding bowl imo. I'd love to post a pic of DS with his lurvely hair but DH doesn't like me doing that now he's more recognisable. It's short over his ears, it curls up at the back a bit and I've left the length as it is on top for now.

Clary · 13/07/2007 23:06

oh for hideous rogue apostrophe there

3catstoo · 13/07/2007 23:33

Depends on the individual and the type of hair.

My DS has very thick hair that grows up and out so long hair is out of the question.

A friends son has gorgeous blonde waves that look fab !

Novacane · 14/07/2007 07:10

APU! that is uncanny!

do dododododo

Leati · 14/07/2007 07:25

I put this on another thread too. Around three people started occasionally mistaking him for a girl. As soon as he was old enough to understand, he decided haircuts weren't so bad.

I think the incident that finally drove him to getting it cut was a sweet elderly librarian was giving one of his older brothers a book mark and she asked if his "sister" would like one too.

charmkin · 14/07/2007 08:18

omg
just wondered!!
didn't realise the strength of opinion out there

its beautiful and it gets him noticed ! he lurrrves it and so do the girls!
vive la difference!

Meglet · 14/07/2007 09:56

I think they usually look really cute! I am planning to let my DS's hair grow to a long-ish surfer style. Might put him in more blue stuff tho so no one thinks he's a girl.

Can't stand really short hair on little boys, they look like Grant Mitchell.

ApuNahasapeemapetilon · 14/07/2007 09:57

we have called R 'Samson' as a pet name since birth - only just struck me how aptit now is!

Dont like too short hair on boys although ds2 always wears his clippered but longish on top
