there's a 5 year old at school who has long hair .. I mean down his back and tied in a pony-tail long

I saw him with his dad at the weekend .. he's a mini-me

give 'em a crew cut

Hathor · 13/07/2007 12:04

Ah yes, so another category according to location.
Long hair North of Mill Hill = pikey or chav (can you see a difference in style?).
Any more?

Hathor · 13/07/2007 12:05

Sorry, I mean lentil weaver or pikey.

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 13/07/2007 12:06

so anybody got any ideas for ds2's hair? currently long, silky blonde pageboy but getting to be a bit of a pita cos it needs cutting so often. taking him to the hairdressers this pm-would like to keep it long but have a different style?

Oblomov · 13/07/2007 12:06

oh sorry I didn't realsie it was only wifin the boundries of norf lundon.

Oblomov · 13/07/2007 12:07

sorry hathor, i retract my comparisons, weaver/pikey weren't on really. Was being cheeky.

mslucy · 13/07/2007 12:07

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting this, but a child in my particular area of wanky North London has a mini mullet.
He also wears skinny jeans.
He is 3!

Oblomov · 13/07/2007 12:08

mslucy, i got ya

nappyaddict · 13/07/2007 12:08

do you have a photo?

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 13/07/2007 12:09

don't really want to post one tbh.

Hathor · 13/07/2007 12:09

s'OK. I am not trying to criticise, just analysing the general view of boys hairstyles. It is obviously a regional thing. And I think young dcs are victims of their parents wishes.
I know I was!

Oblomov · 13/07/2007 12:09

yeah, i want to see the skinny jeans. only jealous, becasue I myself have never been thin enuff.

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 13/07/2007 12:09

he has a little heart shaped face and a button nose and tons of this long blonde hair

MamaMaiasaura · 13/07/2007 12:10

mine ds is 7 and like lou33 son he wants it long. Wants it surfer dude like. Is collar length and longer than the other boys in his school (all crew cuts.. and mainly chavvy - have posted about school b4 hence our plans to move) Interestingly the boyds in his rugby club mostly have longer hair (mostly non chavvy). He doesnt let it grow long enough for it to be tied back.

Ds is happy with his hair and tbh I dont mind as long as he is happy.

mslucy · 13/07/2007 12:13

I think you can buy skinny jeans for small boys from H&M.

I thought of getting ds some but thought they might look a bit weird with a nappy underneath!

lou33 · 13/07/2007 12:18

there are quite a few boys with long hair at the schools my children attend, i like it

MamaMaiasaura · 13/07/2007 12:18

skinny jeans would not suit my ds with his rugby player build.

mslucy · 13/07/2007 12:23

yeah my ds is more the baggy shorts type.

Think they are fun though - I wear them and I'm old as the hills (with a very voluminous smock over the top) - so why shouldn't a toddler.

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 13/07/2007 12:32

is anybody moaning about that?

OrmIrian · 13/07/2007 12:39

It happens to DS#2 all the time but he isn't bothered and neither am I. DS#1 is old enough for it be clear that he isn't a girl.

Beenleigh · 13/07/2007 12:47

think it's cool

MamaMaiasaura · 13/07/2007 14:20

icod.. people dont mistake ds for a girl

Tortington · 13/07/2007 14:23

if you like it then fuck everyone else.

i like long hair - but not lank and straight like ozzyozbourne a bit surferesq not past shoulders

Crumpets · 13/07/2007 14:25

My 10 yr old cousin (boy) has shoulder length wavy hair (lucky thing). He looks quite a lot like a girl and when I asked him if he minded being mistaken for one he said "yes, but long hair is in my personality". He's the most well adjusted child I know. And he looks cool.
