long hair on boys is lovely

cornsilk · 13/07/2007 11:17

My ds won't let me near his hair - it's a mess. He looks like a bee gee. Roll on his first drunken night out so I can shave his head in his sleep.

Hathor · 13/07/2007 11:19

ah ha ha ha stayin alive stayin alive

mslucy · 13/07/2007 11:27

long hair on boys is sooo cute.
ds was born with hair, it never fell out and it grows so fast I can't keep up with it.

It's a beautiful colour - chestnut brown with blonde streaks (dad is a redhead and my hair's naturally dark so it's a perfect blend of us both)

He is 2 and I've cut the fringe loads of times and the back once.

He is a total dude.

Only the chavs have short hair where I live.

Hathor · 13/07/2007 11:30

Exactly, it is a class issue in many people's minds.

mslucy · 13/07/2007 11:36

I like it long - dh has long hair and I have a fairly luxuriant barnet.

Spot on about class - we've been known to play an evil game where we see a boy with v.short hair and say "nits or chav?"

The single diamond stud earring is usually the clue.

Hathor · 13/07/2007 11:37

So when he wants to get a no.1 cut you will dissuade him?

cornsilk · 13/07/2007 11:38

Go on then ms lucy.
David Beckham - nits or chav?

Oblomov · 13/07/2007 11:38

I wasn't very keen on hathor's categories.
Short doesn't need to mean thug. Or maybe that is what people think. I don't. Short in the summer particulalry, seesm sensible.

Hathor · 13/07/2007 11:40

No I don't think that either. Just analysing the general interpretation on this thread. And adding in the floppy-top = public school one for myself.

Hathor · 13/07/2007 11:40

cornsilk David Beckham changes it so often I can't keep up

cornsilk · 13/07/2007 11:41

About ten years ago floppy top was very chav though. Even though Hugh Grant had one.

nappyaddict · 13/07/2007 11:41

my friends little brother has really curly hair - like spirals all over. its passed his shoulders cos any shorter it just goes out. he has to tie it back for school.

i love long hair on boys but not so its in their eyes!!

nbg i can't believe you got it cut

bexie - don't listen to what people think! as long as it doesn't passed his shoulders it's not girly at all. he looks cute with longer hair and in the photo on your profile it wasn't that long.

i like long hair on boys but only so its just resting on their shoulders really.

mslucy · 13/07/2007 11:41

God knows, he'll prob shave his head and pierce his ears just to wind us up.

I know a lot of my teenage fashion choices (and current fashion choices) are my mother's idea of sheer hell.

But while he's too young to make those choices I'll keep it long - if you saw it, you'd agree it's very pretty hair.

re: Becks. I'd like to say nits....

cornsilk · 13/07/2007 11:42

and crabs!

Oblomov · 13/07/2007 11:42

mslucy, no chavs? all children have short hair here. Only the lentil weavers and pikeys have long hair

Hathor · 13/07/2007 11:42

Hugh Grant = so public school, not chav surely.

nappyaddict · 13/07/2007 11:43

oh and if you want long hair on your boys but it's very tangly or coarse put conditioner in it over night and wash it out in the morning. works wonders or so my friends little brother says. he also uses leave in conditioner on it every day and serum to keep it under control.

mummydospells · 13/07/2007 11:43

Don't like long hair on boys but I don't like crew cuts either. My two dss have short back and sides which I do myself whenever it starts to reach over their ears or to touch their collars. I'll start sending them to the barber with DH when they reach school age.

IntergalacticWalrus · 13/07/2007 11:45

DS1 has long blonde curly hair.

it suits him. I'd love hair like his

he's too pretty to be as boy imho. but i'll probably get it cut before he starts pre school in nov.

cornsilk · 13/07/2007 11:47

My ds won't let me put anything on his hair and won't wash it either. I spray him with detangling spray randomly as I pass him which he hates. Anyone know of a good leave in conditioner spray?

OrmIrian · 13/07/2007 11:49

Yes!

DS#2 has longish curly hair - beautiful ringletty curls. But he will have them trimmed before he starts school I suppose.

DS#1 is 10 and has long butter-blond long hair, with a fringe. Straight and silky and basically hair I'd love to have . We went to a party on Monday and he wore jeans a black jacket and white t-shirt and mirror shades. Looked like a real 70's rock dude .

nappyaddict · 13/07/2007 11:51

intergalactic nooooo do not conform!

nappyaddict · 13/07/2007 11:59

frizz ease do a leave in condtioner and a curl spray that's good. they also do an extra strength serum, and a realxing creme if lo will let you put it in.

mslucy · 13/07/2007 12:00

Oblomov

We're talking about wanky North London here!
