I'm shocked anything from
Bon marche costs 35 quid to be honest

applesarerroundandshiny · 02/04/2019 22:15

@TSSDNCOP Yes that's the Next dress I meant that I was expecting the thread to be about! I didn't know how to link it . I ordered the one with the diagonal light blue stripes but I got it in longer length hoping it would cover my knees but it meant that the hip pockets came half way down my thighs and it didn't hang right.

CountFosco · 02/04/2019 22:31

My Mum makes lovely celery and apple soup @TSSDNCOP. But only after she's changed out of her 'going to the shops' clothes.

Petalflowers · 02/04/2019 22:33

I’m like Kipondo (a few pages back) in that the Next dress wouldn’t suit me because i’m Pear shaped and it’s too short. Unfortunately, legs aren’t my best feature which is why I like a longer midi (ie. below knee, not at the knee) or maxi.

Maxi dresses are my SRD.

confusedat30 · 03/04/2019 00:45

Hideous... but each to their own

strawberrisc · 03/04/2019 05:42

Jesus. To have the time off work to pick a “school run dress”.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 03/04/2019 06:28

🙄 ^

Yes we're all such silly women.

CountFosco · 03/04/2019 06:44

I'm so busy and important I have no time to shop for clothes and so I do the school run naked.

Crochetcrochetcrochet · 03/04/2019 06:55

I totally knew what was meant by SRD and DS1 is only in reception. I wore something akin to a laagenlook one whilst pregnant last year for nursery pick ups, cool, loose, had pockets so I didn't need a bag.

Posters acting utterly aghast that people want to appear vaguely clean, tidy and decent in front of the class teacher are being disingenuous at best.

I'm just sad I can't wear one this year as breastfeeding DS2 so will be swearing in outfits to do one up one down in

Oh and I don't like the Bon marche one, it looks like my mum's curtains

Kezza8 · 03/04/2019 09:11

Hell no!

BringMeTea · 03/04/2019 09:13

That robe isn't bad actually.
Funny thread. You just don't get celery soup offered as an option much these days do you? I like it.

RabbitseatDogs · 03/04/2019 09:17

I made my dress AND I wore it on the school run. Not a flower in sight and pockets big enough for my all shit.

SummerHouse · 03/04/2019 10:55

Do you walk a lot of dogs rabbit Grin

Allthepinkunicorns · 03/04/2019 12:13

Nope nopety nope.

Elllllle · 03/04/2019 12:34

Bahahahahahaha this thread gets more mental by the day, I love it. FWIW I'm team @LipstickHandbagCoffee

Twowilldo50 · 03/04/2019 14:08

No you’d get dreadful sunburn.

Tanaqui · 03/04/2019 14:34

This has pockets and would cover any bra strap.

I look clean, tidy and decent all the time, not just for the school run Grin

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 03/04/2019 16:21

I understand how one looks vaguely clean, tidy But how does one look look vaguely decent
And who made teachers the arbiters of decency that one has to appear decent
I look clean and tidy all the time not just for school

3out · 03/04/2019 16:59

The teachers don’t leave the classroom here, so we don’t ever see them, or them us (unless they peep through the blinds of the staff room to secretly judge us 🤷‍♀️).
I like the idea of a SRD, but we don’t have the weather.

DaisyBD · 04/04/2019 16:17

@RabbitseatDogs as you sew have you seen this pattern? I think it meets all your requirements. The pockets are in the side seams but it would be easy to change them to patch pockets on the front if you wanted to. It's ridiculously easy and super flattering (even DH thinks so and he hates sack dresses, not that I take any notice of what he thinks Grin) as it's fitted on the shoulders, and lovely and swingy. Merchant and Mills have gorgeous linens too.
