I actually really like it, but I prefer secondhand since reading how much water it takes to make a t-shirt - eBay and charity shops all the way for me!

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 02/04/2019 18:18

Well actually fuckery,No that is a misrepresentation.youre being fallacious
People have discussed naice school dress,it’s merits and recommendations

ginghamtablecloths · 02/04/2019 18:19

No, it's too fussy and I hate the straps.

funnyoldonion · 02/04/2019 18:21

Eww

FindPrimeLorca · 02/04/2019 18:28

It’s quicker than jeans and a t shirt because it’s only one garment rather than two, and also because it doesn’t require thought about whether the top is the right length for the waist height of your jeans (in order not to reveal parts of your body you’d rather keep hidden, not specifically because of style choices about proportions, (though that’s also a thing, because.. although some people may have forgotten this this is S&B so we are allowed to care about aesthetic considerations). It is also a specifically warm weather garment, which jeans are not. SRDs are a summer thing, but they are also all about looking casually respectable at speed, for whatever reason.

If you either a) have sufficient time in your schedule to be able to compose every clothes change at your leisure and aren’t constantly sprinting for every appointment or b) don’t give a toss what you wear every day as long as it’s sufficiently warm and won’t get you arrested or c) live somewhere too cold for regular wearing of summer dresses then good for you, you are not the target market, nothing to see here, move along.

FuckeryOmbudsman · 02/04/2019 18:33

Nah - not fallacious, just true to the longstanding MN convention.

Which is sod all to do with any actual school run.

And is the affectionate nickname for the regular 'what are the nicest summer dresses this year' thread. Something that is, as others have posted above, very easy to understand (if you can accept it's not literal, though that it is a common mistake to think that until explained)

Discussion of jeans and tshirts are of course welcome on S&B, but it is a bit of a derailment of the summer dresses thread

applesarerroundandshiny · 02/04/2019 18:42

I get you @FindPrimeLorca . In fact now that I work somewhere with much more relaxed dress code, my whole life is about this kind of dress! Jumper dress and thick tights in winter, maxi T shirt dress in Summer!

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 02/04/2019 18:44

Nope, op didn’t reference it as thread about school run dress that isn’t for school run
Don’t revert to the ooh it’s from the old days I tell ya.
that doesn’t cut it

PocaMiseria · 02/04/2019 18:46

@converseandjeans

I agree with you, converse
@FlibbertyGiblets must be someone who works for Bloody Bonmarché as I have got all those annoying flashing adverts on my page too.
Going to try and clear my browser to shift them, but that's the last time I click on anyone's product link

GregoryPeckingDuck · 02/04/2019 18:48

Does it come in alternative fabrics? That print is hideous

GregoryPeckingDuck · 02/04/2019 18:48

@lipstickgandbagcoffee

Well it’s not really appropriate to do the school run in pjs or naked is it?

FuckeryOmbudsman · 02/04/2019 18:51

No back referencing needed for a readily recognised annual tradition,

(When so many people are telling you that your literalness is misplaced - for I am far from the only poster pointing out that you are doggedly hanging on to an utter misconception - and all others making the same error are OK with the explanation, perhaps it's time to consider the possibility that you have after all misjudged this a bit. Or are you just playing for the fin of it now?)

NunoGoncalves · 02/04/2019 18:57

@FlibbertyGiblets must be someone who works for Bloody Bonmarché as I have got all those annoying flashing adverts on my page too

That's just because mumsnet knows which websites you've been visiting recently. It's called targeted advertising. Nothing to do with OP.

I suggest you google and then installl "adblock plus"

wLuytgNx · 02/04/2019 18:58

Hang on a minute.... do people actually buy clothes especially for the school run.... what is this madness?

wLuytgNx · 02/04/2019 19:00

^ And people actually go home and change before getting their children... why do you care what you are wearing on the school run? Wow

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 02/04/2019 19:00

Fuckery,I admire your dogged pursuit of your own truth,v post truth
I am not the only poster rocking up to berate having a school run dress
Perhaps read the thread, address them too.tell them bout the old days

converseandjeans · 02/04/2019 19:02

nuno but I didn't go on the website. I also got the advert on FB. They are apparently being bought out by someone at the moment. I do think it's a marketing ploy.

Dippypippy1980 · 02/04/2019 19:05

It’s really not😂😂

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 02/04/2019 19:06

wLuytgNx well yes, apparently the school run dress is just the thing for shift workers
Out of the uniform into polyblend in a flash.sorted

cuppycakey · 02/04/2019 19:07

I think it's awful. Maybe if you are a great great grandmother doing the school run?

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 02/04/2019 19:09

Well it’s not really appropriate to do the school run in pjs or naked is it?
Are Those really your only three options Gregory?
Pjs
Bare arse naked
School run dress

thistimeofyear · 02/04/2019 19:12

nice try flippertygiblets!

pollymere · 02/04/2019 19:14

I bought a dress like this last year for work/holiday. Definitely not school run. I would recommend yoga pants and North Face jacket. Or possibly something from Joules.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 02/04/2019 19:19

I appreciate a school run dress thread. TOTally get the idea.

After a day of childcare, cooking and baking, gardening and housework, dog walking etc - I would get changed into something presentable when mine were small. That way it meant my good clothes didn’t get ruined and I could just get on with jobs without worrying about getting dirty.

However I have personal standards so wouldn’t dream of tripping into school in leisurewear/ crappy worn out stuff. That is just me though -I like to be clean and tidy everyday so I feel like me. Lipstick on too.

I love dresses as they suit my shape and feel comfortable in a way that jeans just don’t.

I would love to hear others recommendations even though I no longer do the school run as I am always open hear about a good chuck it on dress. 🙂

LimeKiwi · 02/04/2019 19:23

I was all set to say it's horrible but looked and I like it Blush

It's too pretty for the school run though, I'm lucky if I've managed to put my t-shirt on the right way round, got no stains on my skirt and if I've brushed my hair I'm counting it as a win for the day lol
