Double0FeckingBollocks · 02/04/2019 20:32

What the fecking bollocks is a school run dress?

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 02/04/2019 20:35

What?well going by this thread it’s a jaunty throw on and you don’t need to accessorise or match your undies
Perfect for shift workers apparently

LimeKiwi · 02/04/2019 20:42

What the fecking bollocks is a school run dress?

Grin In my case, anything I can find on the floor that's clean Grin Blush I'm clearly in the wrong section, just noticed I'm in Style and Beauty - I'm only here as I saw it in trending topics and wanted to see the dress lol
MancaroniCheese · 02/04/2019 20:44

For those deriding people 'dressing for the school run' if it was a hot summer's day and you had been

  • to a business meeting in suit and heels but were then doing the SR and taking the kids to swimming lessons straight after
  • sunbathing in a bikini then heading to parents evening after SR
  • decorating in paint stained clothes and then going to soft play after SR
  • working from home in your PJs but going to a party straight from SR

surely you would want to get changed out of what you were wearing? Jeans /leggings not necessarily everyone's choice of outfit for a hot summer day

millythepink · 02/04/2019 20:48

My Mum thinks Bon Marche is a bit fuddy duddy. She is 79.

chandylier · 02/04/2019 20:49

The only time I’d wear that type of thing would be on holiday if it was unbearably hot.

ferrier · 02/04/2019 20:49

I thought for a while I had the same Next SRD as pp but perhaps not. I will say mine is great and fulfills all the functions of a SRD perfectly, though I am fortunate to have good arms. I've got it in three colours/patterns and they seem to do slightly different styles though based on the same basic shape each year so I'm sorely tempted to get some more. Just worried that everyone must have one by now!

And yes, I'm one of those people who enjoys looking nice (in my opinion of course) so if I can do that so effortlessly why not?

ferrier · 02/04/2019 20:51

And just to add, I spend most of a hot summers day kicking around in shorts. There's no way I'm inflicting that much of my legs on passers by!

chandylier · 02/04/2019 20:51

But I have no style or beauty, no idea how I wandered into this section!!

Loki1983 · 02/04/2019 20:51

I've taken to wearing joggers to any events where I'm simply taxi service for kids apart from if I am wearing work clothes which is business wear. No shame.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 02/04/2019 20:54

Those are v specific criteria which I think have been manufactured for the thread. However this may be the scenario one finds one self in

  • to a business meeting in suit and heels but were then doing the SR and taking the kids to swimming lessons straight after. Corporate Work clothes,Why does that require a change of clothing? Biohazards exposure change the suit. Corporate change not reqd
  • sunbathing in a bikini then heading to parents evening after SR. Any clothes will do. A Dress if you wish
  • decorating in paint stained clothes and then going to soft play after SR Change into clean clothes
  • working from home in your PJs but going to a party straight from SR. Whatever suits you for the party
LimeKiwi · 02/04/2019 20:56

For those deriding people 'dressing for the school run' if it was a hot summer's day

Sorry, I wasn't deriding, I just didn't know dressing up for it was an actual thing, I count a hair comb a win lol

NigellasGuest · 02/04/2019 21:03

Never heard of this brand but the dress looks not very nice

FindPrimeLorca · 02/04/2019 21:12

Now you really are just trolling lipstick. Corporate work clothes are normally uncomfortable, not suitable for crawling through soft play tunnels in search of lost socks or sitting on the grass, and just look a bit weird when everyone else around you is dressed casually. Lipstick may be unable to conceive of anyone having a use for a casual throw-it-on summer dress: by contrast I can’t imagine anyone who works in a formal office and doesn’t want to change out of their work schmutter off as soon as humanly possible.

TSSDNCOP · 02/04/2019 21:16

Find do you have the recipe for a tasty celery soup? Wink try here

TSSDNCOP · 02/04/2019 21:17

@CountFosco have you tried that one?

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 02/04/2019 21:22

Take time to read all my responses to the scenarios
Let’s see
decorating in paint stained clothes and then going to soft play after SR I said Change into clean clothes*
Pretty straightforward,sensible
Trolling would be suggesting get a basque, some spiky heels to perforate the slide, and call yourself Talulah
But I didn’t say that did I...no

BarrenFieldofFucks · 02/04/2019 21:27

Fuck me, how many posters will ask what a school run dress is after 15 pages of other posters asking and being told?

I know it's a disingenuous way of attempting to appear 'above all that', but surely it's been done now?!

radioactiveimagination · 02/04/2019 21:29

OK, having now RTFT I can appreciate the potential need for a SRD. DD starts school this year, there is much I need to learn!

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 02/04/2019 21:33

Ahhh but on arrival you’ll need to select your tribe, can’t decide in advance
Gym bunny tribe
Ugg boots skinny jeans tribe
Fake tan and. Scowl tribe
Sunglasses Never seen her eyes tribe
Too cool for school dad with phone
Drop & go tribe
Never really there whatshername tribe

TSSDNCOP · 02/04/2019 21:35

radio a whole new world Grin SRD genuinely is intended to be veeeery lighthearted.

Unlike buying spikes to ace the Mothers Race Grin

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 02/04/2019 21:36

Mothers race?race where
I’ve never been to a school sport day

GlacindaTheTroll · 02/04/2019 21:39

Sorry, I wasn't deriding, I just didn't know dressing up for it was an actual thing,

That's because it isn't

Read a little more of the thread and you will see how very many times it's been asked and answered.

Ignore those posters who try to insist - against years of precedent and just about every other poster on the thread - that 'school run' is meant even in the slightest way literally. It's just an in-joke title for the annual summer dress thread

And - TSSDNCOP - try also the fennel recipes in the Little Green Roasting Tray

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 02/04/2019 21:41

Or of course read the thread make your own mind up without directions
