@Wardrobedramas you can't self promote without payment on Mumsnet, especially on unrelated threads. I've reported your post as SPAM.

Phew Flo, I did worry Bani would have no time to wait out a code for her pink trousers if babies were already on the way.

Seeing as I'm now cleared to travel barring Brexit weirdness I'm now contemplating travel clothes, had been hoping for nicer weather so I can travel light but it looks to be cool and rainy. Can't decide whether to dress for rain or cold, rain seems to be the more sensible option. Temps are comparable to here but London is a bit further inland so shouldn't feel that cold or am I deluding myself?

We must all be having a bag moment. I've been hovering over the buy button on these Cos ones. I'd only keep one. Given the comment on quality maybe I should check them out first .

I did also buy a Victoria by VB top deeply discounted on Flannels. I've mentioned it before, but I have to say if again. IMO it's the only diffusion line where the quality of fabrics is top notch. The quality is as good as you get on nearly every main RTW line and in many cases better. Wool with a little stretch and fully lined in silk.

Bo weather is very changeable at the moment in London.
Rain is supposed to be light rain for weekend (I would re check rain forecast later in week... not that is that exact either...)
Mornings tend to be cool but towards midday/pm gets to double digits or just scrapes it.
So dressing for cold but not full on frozen temps.
The bit that gets me is that it has been very windy the last couple of days so that messes up and makes it feel colder.
I do not think I am helping here Hmm Confused

ToElleWithIt · 11/03/2019 10:33

Also glad to hear you're feeling better botemp

Redandblue11 · 11/03/2019 10:33

Elle, Bo i will pm for meet up details. Happy to meet from 10.30 ish onwards on Monday .
Xing we will see you at 1.30 in V&A

CatherineMaitland · 11/03/2019 10:48

Thanks all. I only have 3 bags at the moment - 2 black, one a reddish tan - and most of my wardrobe is blue, black or grey, with a bit of dark red and dark green. Might try the bag, I can always send it back if I decide I don't like it.

Love the dark green Cos bag especially.

botemp · 11/03/2019 11:22

I've seen both those bags at Cos and lovely as they appear at first glance I'd be hesitant to buy them. The suede on the light green one isn't the best quality and the other one, the corners would also go grubby so quickly. The green feels quite fragile in a sense, very smooth leather that will mark noticeably on a bag that doesn't really suit ageing with grace and it's also not as sturdy as the shape would have you believe. Very reminiscent of a Céline trotteur though, they have another one that's a dead ringer for the Céline flap bag, in black it's grained leather so at least has a bit more longevity to it but it is quite thin leather for such a large bag.

Hmm yes it's extremely windy here at the moment, weather warnings were in place yesterday but London looks to be slightly less windy in comparison and slightly warmer. I just need to figure out coat and then I can figure out the rest. Long trench seems the most promising but it's not the best to travel with but thinner wool coats that would be temperature appropriate would be useless with anything more than a drizzle of rain. Not sure if umbrellas are allowed in cabin luggage either. Although probably useless with proper winds. Sigh. I fear last minute packing may be in order.

Oh dear I think I'm deluding myself with thinking I'm doing better as my grasp of basic grammar is still clearly lost Blush

V jealous of your meet-up.

I've given up on bags. There never is one that is right. I'm using the all-black Kånken nowadays. www.fjallraven.se/shop/fjallraven-kanken-no-2-laptop-15-black-F23568-black/?sku=7323450260361

To hell with nice bags. They're either so small they're useless or so big they wreck my back when I'm lugging them around with all my useful bits and bobs in them. That said, I was looking for ages for a nice leather bag and did think a colourful one would be good because it'd sort of go with anything and just be my bag, like.

The fact that a lot of leather is of such poor quality is annoying too - if you buy a leather bag you really need it to age well!

I'm just going to link to the pink trousers online as well so we can all ponder the colour some more. See in my head I can only match it with cream. I have a vague idea of venturing into Pale Top Land this season, a country I haven't visited for a good 25 years I think, but if I hate the place I shouldn't be stuck with half the national costume so to speak. www.ahlens.se/Mode/byxor/kostymbyxor-570323/carin-wester-linnebyxor-finlay-rosa-90433682/

Fairly certain umbrellas are allowed in cabin luggage!

XingMing · 11/03/2019 14:09

Woo hoo! I have just bought my train ticket... which has gone up a tad since I regularly bought a day trip to London. It has tripled in price. I am so looking forward to a grand day out, but hopefully not in the wrong trousers.

Happy to see you back Bo, and may your recovery proceed apace.

Redandblue11 · 11/03/2019 14:57

Excellent Xing is 1.30 pm still your eta for V&A?
The rest will meet beforehand but we can see you at the V&A
Really looking forward to it !

XingMing · 11/03/2019 15:32

My train gets to Paddington at 12.20, red, so I should have lots of time to get the few stops to S Ken by 1.30 pm. Do we have a meeting point?

Redandblue11 · 11/03/2019 15:55

Will pm you Xing

botemp · 11/03/2019 18:54

I wouldn't mind another trip to Stockholm Bani, my recent visit was so short. I didn't even get to go near a shop Shock

Although I keep getting bombarded by the Swedish tourist bureau to visit Malmö and Skåne. I vaguely remember going to Malmö when in Copenhagen, and it not being all that memorable beyond a museum but that was long ago, it looks really enticing now.

Just remember to leave the flip flops at home Xing Wink I'm sure the trousers will be fine.

Well I will try to post tomorrow some photos of my eBay purchases, well at least people seeing me in London will not have to look out for someone wearing ridiculously stylish high waisted Joseph jeans ... as the zip will not go up even a millimetre Blush.
I cannot understand the blue Joseph trousers are a 36 and these 38 ... the blue ones are a tad tight but ok, so reserved for the half of the month when I am not bloated. But these ones are way way off ...
I will eBay straight away.

The pink dress is in my possession too but I have not tried it yet , fingers crossed.

I would not mind a Swedish meet up at some point either 😀

banivani · 11/03/2019 22:08

Ah but sure Sweden is no way near as fun as London and all ;)

Incidentally I’m running a low key campaign here to move to Malmö some day. Everyone I’ve met who lived there loved it. They all moved because they had to, but say it’s a great city.

Red - them bloody trousers eh? Glad it’s not just me baffled over trouser sizing within a brand! What a crying shame.

Floisme · 12/03/2019 07:24

That's a real shame about the trousers Red. I'm always a bit baffled by designer sizing - French and Italian in particular as they use the same numbers but they seem to mean different things. Better luck with the dress.

bani I love the colour of those trousers! I think the pink would work with lots of colours - greens, blues, yellows, greys, browns - provided you can find the right shade, although I suppose if you mix in too many, there's a risk of being mistaken for a battenberg cake and eaten.

I'm Envy about the meetup too but looking forward to a full report.

lightningstrikes · 12/03/2019 09:46

Hi all, I rarely post but do keep up with the thread. As we've just returned from London having taken in the Dior I wanted to say I thought it was a stunning exhibition and I came away with several Dior books that I duly lugged around London for the rest of the afternoon. I'm envious you will all enjoy it together, DH was an obliging companion, but had little to say aside from 'that's a nice one'. Grin

Bo If the weather is as it was this weekend I would leave any umbrella ideas and take a trench and a suitable scarf. I took a long wool coat as we went to the theatre as well and I didn't want to haul two coats, I found I was far too hot and I wished I'd brought the trench. I say that as a chronically cold person.

Bani I have bought some linen trousers in a similar colour and plan to wear white, burgandy, navy and black with them. I also like pink and khaki together, so I will pick up a kahki top if I come across one I like. Of course this is all assuming I can slim down to fit in them, I have yet to shift the winter weight I seem to have put on. The cake I've just eaten for breakfast probably won't help with this. Blush

banivani · 12/03/2019 10:36

I buy nothing secondhand when I know or suspect the label is Italian and the size is just given as a number. It's rarely clear if the 44 is an Italian, French or German 44... but if there's a shot of the label you can be more certain of course. Why people who sell clothes online can't learn to use a measuring tape I don't know.

You're all talking me into the pink trousers btw. I do have black and burgundy tops, so I'd not be naked. I'm not sure if khaki is my colour lightning but if I see something I think I'll try it, it could be a useful colour to have in my arsenal.

I think the most à la mode thing to do would be to wear something slightly unexpected like a quite dark chambray shirt, but I don't think I'm that unexpected. Also I don't want a chambray shirt. (start counting down to me showing up with one...) Flo lol at cake analogy...

Redandblue11 · 12/03/2019 11:44

I know Bani! Measuring tape eBay people! That will teach me.

On a more positive note here is the finery dress. I cannot remember who was also keeping an eye on it as there are a few on eBay ... was it Catherine, or Jon maybe?
This one is a 10, so I think is true to size as is my normal size, except on tops where I sometimes go into an 8, so you can see there is room to fill more.
It it fully lined, I like the material a type of weighty viscose/crepe? Not sure as label is not there but is soft and not itchy.
I love the length too and it can be tied to the front and back.

Bani I know my very pale pink trousers do not look pink to you or anyone else perhaps but here I am trying them with navy and a very very old little chocolate top I had for 12 years and re-found ... I am not sure the latter one is good, might be a bit too short? I remember I used to love it so I am not sure if I am finding difficult to let go this old love or should I ditch it ... anyhow all to try to help you pondering pink trousers Wink

CatherineMaitland · 12/03/2019 11:59

I wasn't eyeing it up for myself exactly but I did wonder about Finery's quality etc so good to know about that!

Redandblue11 · 12/03/2019 12:25

A friend of mine got a new finery dress and I was positively impressed re quality, I think is ok for the price point . That lead me to look at this one. But I agree I was not sure why so many where on offer so cheap on eBay ... might be because is not so versatile and if worn a few times is quite obvious you are “again” in the fucsia dress?
Quality I mean in terms of material weight, being lined, the stitching seems good (ie no loose bits or badly finished endings), and the cut also looked good to my very amateur eyes.

quirkychick · 12/03/2019 12:31

Gorgeous dress, red.

Khaki and pink is lovely, bani, but does me no favours, sadly. White, burgundy and pink sounds very nice. I find that kind of blush pink, really hard to wear but could imagine white and burgundy, maybe layered tops?

Have a lovely meet up in London, everyone, I will be at a sen conference and have family visiting. Not envious at all, oh no.

banivani · 12/03/2019 15:04

That dress is certainly very pink, Red. You may change your username! I love the back view in particular, lovely drape.

Pink and brown is a classic combination of course! Sadly I don't wear brown anymore because I don't fancy it suits me. Possibly I just need someone to do my colours and proclaim it does (I'm prob more an autumn than a winter but I tend to dress more winter) to change my mind. I think Amy has a pink and brown gown in Little Women, I remember reading that as a child and thinking it sounded odd, but it's a very good combination really. I like the blouse Red but it has a rather "young" feel. Rounded collar, puffy sleeves. Perhaps that's what's making you waver against it?
