Catherine’s dress was really showing her figure

The cone boobs tho ...

Hated all the bridal looks save for Eugenie. Pippa’s was actually my favourite!

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/03/2019 20:53

I think Meghan's dress was deliberately plain because the veil was meant to be the star of the show. But perhaps if you were watching on tv you couldn't see the intricacies of it.

Actually I think MM and Kate dresses were not that great
Meghan’s looked very baggy and creased. And Kate was too disney princess. Plus the lace looked —cheap— less than ordinary .

IMO Out of all the royal brides , nothing beats Maxima’s Valentino dress . The simplicity of the dress, the fit, fabric , and all that discreet lace, simply stunning,

user1457017537 · 04/03/2019 20:58

I loved Grace Kelly’s wedding dress.

queenofarles · 04/03/2019 21:04

charlene’s and Meghan’s dresses are similar but Charlene’s fitted her better , plus I don’t remember seeing all the details quite stunning embroidery going on there

Yes, Charlene’s was beautiful!

TheCraicDealer · 04/03/2019 21:08

I don't think the lace on Kate's looked cheap at the time, it was just that there were so many copies or "inspired by" tops and dresses in the years after made out of cheap AF polyester lace that that's what you think of when you see it now!

I loved Meghan's veil but it just didn't go with the dress. I had a totally plain dress (very like her evening dress) and whilst I love the look of the detailed/embellished veils I ultimately went with a horsehair edged one. The clean lines just suited the style of the dress better.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/03/2019 21:11

Who designed Charlene's dress? Armani? It was lovely but I've never seen such a miserable bride. By contrast Meghan and Kate glowed.

OP posts:
Paradyning · 04/03/2019 21:16

It was Armani. I didn't like it as I thought it broadened her swimmers shoulders.
It had a removable train too. Her headless was stunning though.

Paradyning · 04/03/2019 21:16

Headless?? Head dress

Rhubarbisevil · 04/03/2019 21:17

Horsehair??

Rhubarbisevil · 04/03/2019 21:18

Do you think MM is trying to be the new Audrey Hepburn?

queenofarles · 04/03/2019 21:18

Yes Armani,
god knows what was going on prior to the wedding ,if any of stories were true then who could blame her,

TheCraicDealer · 04/03/2019 21:21

That's legit what it's called! I don't know where the name comes from Grin

MM’s evening gown was stunning!!!! Stunning! Gorgeous!

I really hated the wedding dress though Blush It’s just huge and blah, the veil didn’t suit as pp have said, it was shapeless and looked too big on her, the tiara didn’t suit anything (like a medieval inspired dress but art nouveau tiara), it was all just blah. I think she chose the evening dress and was pressured into wearing that style of day dress. Or maybe the day dress was her saying “I can do royal” and the evening dress more her, but I wish Givenchy tried harder on the fit of that heavy white sack

SlipperOrchid · 04/03/2019 21:44

I loved the simplicity and elegance of Meghan’s dress. I thought it was one of the most beautiful wedding dresses ever. Meghan’s natural beauty shone in it. Very few people would be able to carry off that dress. It would highlight their plainness of most people’s faces, something she obviously did not have to worry about. It was perfect on her.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/03/2019 21:46

As I said at the time, Meghan's best accessory was her face!

Charlene's dress is beautiful, shame she looks so miserable. I found MM's dress a big disappointment. It didn't fit properly, the material was all wrong. I wasn't' keen on Kate's either. The strange highlighting of her breasts was a bit odd, and I wasn't keen on the lace - just too much of it. I also don't think white is great on her, ivory would have been better.
I loved Zara's dress however, and I liked Eugenie's dress too.

Pinkjellyfish · 04/03/2019 22:16

I agree, I wasn’t a huge fan of Meghan’s wedding dress personally. Maybe if it had fitted a bit differently. That’s one reason I was curious about it inspiring future brides - I wondered if it just wasn’t that well liked by people.

Pinkjellyfish · 04/03/2019 22:35

In a past interview Meghan said that her favourite celebrity wedding dress was Carolyn Bessette Kennedy's. Obviously it’s not a very royal wedding style but I can see the inspiration in the simple lines.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/03/2019 22:36

That's still one of the most beautiful celeb wedding photos I've ever seen.

Notmyrealname855 · 04/03/2019 22:37

That’s a lovely pic :) That looks a bit like the evening dress - got to say I don’t normally rate Stella McCartney but it was a great dress and looked amazing with that ring Shock!

frugalkitty · 04/03/2019 22:37

I thought Kate's was too much of a copy of Grace Kelly's dress, and without and shimmer to it the embroidery was very flat (even on display). Meghan's was a lovely silhouette but I don't understand why it didn't fit better given how much it cost! Eugenie's was lovely, unusual but traditional at the same time and the more I saw of it the more I liked it.

My favourites are Lady Sarah Chatto, Princess Grace and Max. And Lady Helen Taylor.

QueenOfTheAndals · 04/03/2019 22:40

Who designed Zara's dress?

Lady Sarah's still remains one of my favourites!

“Kennedy and Bessette succeeded in keeping their September 21, 1996 wedding a secret from the press, avoiding media onlookers. The ceremony took place by candlelight on the remote Georgia island, Cumberland, in a tiny wooden chapel, the First African Baptist Church. The bride selected the then-little-known designer Narciso Rodriguez of Cerruti for her wedding dress”

Sounds amazing!! By candlelight, swoon!
