Previous thread

And I shouldn't have to say this anymore but will do so for any newbies - let's keep our critiquing to the clothes and not the women wearing them.

Also personally I wouldn’t like an approach of “well MM buys expensive so so will I”, I hope kate keeps it high st. If they always kept dresses to under £1k it’d be ideal

EstrellaDamn · 13/02/2019 13:46

The flippy skirt is back 🙄

It's so inelegant! Just get some trousers on woman!

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/02/2019 13:48

Actually I'm not sure Chanel would design a skirt like that, they always go for a more classic design that doesn't date.

I think it's McQueen, with minor changes, Kate's version is with buttons, the flippy mini is very McQueen too,

New to these threads but I love talking about the Royals fashion so I am glad I have found this :)

MM last night looked glowing but not a fan of that outfit at all, the neck makes her face look huge which it isn't. Just not a nice cut or fit for me! I agree with others that throwing money at these maternity outfits has not agreed with her and her casual pre-engagement style was great. It must be hard to try and stay to her style but fit around that huge bump.

I love Kate's style and she has hair goals today (and most days tbh). I love her in flippy skirts too, think she carries them off really well!

AFifthOfKoolAid · 13/02/2019 15:05

Kate has always, since becoming duchess at least, worn a mixture of humble high street and eyewateringly expensive designer gear, for day and evening engagements alike. Her wearing expensive now won't be because Meghan is doing it (and I don't think we've seen Kate in anything as thrifty as £25 H&M?!). Just as she didn't go out a in one shoulder dress just because Meghan did. I can't imagine her being that Veruca Salt about it.

Interesting article by George Clooney in today's Guardian.

Hairydilemma · 13/02/2019 15:35

Thank you for the new thread Queen.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Meghan’s dress last night but get what another poster said about it being quite California and up Meg’s street; she’s being true to herself.

Also made me think - what did I wear when I was at MM’s stage of pregnancy?

Nothing that smart I don’t think - mostly my single pair of Isabella Oliver jersey trousers I think, to work and everywhere else.

My point being - very few of us have to dress up to this extent in late pregnancy and I’m sure many people would struggle.

Kate did well so it’s not impossible, but another way in which MM is being held up to standards most of us never have to try and achieve.

On a lighter note, I walked into a meeting at work today wearing this jacket and someone said ‘love your jacket, it’s very royal’!!

The threads are clearly having a sartorial impact on me! Grin

We were all wrong - the suit is bespoke Dolce & Gabbana. So much for Thrifty Kate!!

OP posts:
queenofarles · 13/02/2019 16:30

Dolce! Shock Kate might not be a follower of Diet prada then Wink.

Janecon · 13/02/2019 16:49

I like Kate's suit today but I think the skirt is too short. I think the outfit would look more balanced if it was just a little longer.

Paradyning · 13/02/2019 16:58

D&G!! Wow

Paradyning · 13/02/2019 17:02

Didn't she wear a lace dress that was D&G once. A maroon one?

Alwayscheerful · 13/02/2019 17:03

@Hairydilemma I love the jacket, is it rom Jigsaw? I have a similar one from Zara but I would love one from Isabel Marant!

PrimeExample · 13/02/2019 17:13

Love the jacket but I think she is trying to look too much like a little girl with the flippy skirts. Also, what's up with her eyebrow? Botox looks a bit odd and weirdly, is ageing! I think she looks a lot like Carole these days.

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/02/2019 17:17

Yes she is, especially today. That's no bad thing, Carole is an attractive woman!

Disfordarkchocolate · 13/02/2019 17:24

I really don't like this flippy skirt suit look. None of them looks like they fit smoothly around the waste. Hair is fabulous today.

Notmyrealname855 · 13/02/2019 17:29

D&G?!? She can’t have been reading the press! Thought everyone was boycotting them?

Hairydilemma · 13/02/2019 17:30

Thank you @AlwaysCheerful - mine’s Zara too (def not Marant! - or even Jigsaw) Smile

Paradyning · 13/02/2019 17:34

Love your jacket too Hairy!

Hairydilemma · 13/02/2019 17:45

Thank you @Paradyning! It was quite the bargain (#thrifty) and I’ve worn it a lot (#recycling).

You’re right about Kate’s maroon lace D&G dress, it was mentioned on a previous thread and nobody else seemed to like it except me!

Gooseysgirl · 13/02/2019 17:51

I think KM looked fabulous today... but would have preferred the skirt in more of a pencil style and a bit longer.

hopeishere · 13/02/2019 18:00

A pencil skirt would have been interesting. Botox brow very evident here. I guess it can go wrong sometimes no matter who you use. Also disclaimer I have no problem at all with her getting Botox. Whatever floats your boat!

AnnaMagnani · 13/02/2019 18:02

Am not a fan of Kate's flippy skirt looks but v pleased that she has picked a v spendy non British designer so hopefully we can hear less and less of thrifty Kate and spendthrift Meghan.

Sooner that is over the better. Both of them spend a fortune and we should own up and be honest that we like it that way.

mrscampbellblackagain · 13/02/2019 18:54

I like the skirt and think it is practical in that it doesn't ride up when she sits down.

Not a fan of D&G but as future Queen she is surely going to be expected to spend more than Meghan. I mean pretty sure Camilla spends more than Anne. Mind you I probably spend more than Anne Wink

I also liked Meghan's outfit the other night a lot.
