Oh dear @justilou1 is it not all covered in cost by the nursing school?
We didn't get the check in the county when I was born due to cut backs so had to have it done when I started my training, I still have a bit of a tender spot there now 20 years later!

ilovecherries · 03/03/2019 11:58

Mine came up huge at my pre-nursing medical as well. Probably because they were still actually vaccinating when I was at school. But all the follow up tests were done via occ health.

I don’t think I’ve ever had codiene before. In my nightmare decade I had morphine patches and tramadol, neither of which I had any issues with, and stopped very easily after I had my corrective surgery, despite very long periods of use. But now that tramadol is controlled, they are more stingy with it. But 30 mg of codiene really made me feel crap. Can’t imagine being able to take 8 of them in a day, one nearly flattened me.

EachandEveryone · 03/03/2019 12:50

I love Tramadol I have to admit 😮

EachandEveryone · 03/03/2019 12:56

My rheumatologist has put me on Amitriptyline and I’m not convinced about it. I’m having the best sleep ever but that’s no good when I’m on my way to Scotland to
See my nieces baby I’m sure she will be wanting me to take her into my room like with the last baby —and the one before— I wish I was one of those people that could sleep in a train it would be lovely to grab four hours before I am put to work Grin

FuzzyPuffling · 03/03/2019 16:00

Off the topic completely....each I have my first visit to a rheumatologist tomorrow. Any pointers as to what I might expect? (Various symptoms and high ANA titer). I'm worried.

Offredismysister · 03/03/2019 16:26

@Luna I saw the Jayne dress in John Lewis. The material is nice, I had the Leonie dress in it a few seasons ago. One thing I do remember is that it washes well & you can just dry it hung up, but it’s prone to slight shrinkage. It looks like the kind of dress that if you’ve got big boobs or thighs you’ll need the larger size.

I decided I liked the lucky jumper as it looked great with a denim pencil skirt. So I’ve reordered it & will hopefully get a fault free one this time. I also loved the lucky horseshoe tee with the pencil skirt, but I’ve got loads of hush slogan tees & do I really want a lucky jumper & a lucky tee?

Also, inspired by Ella I ordered some mom jeans which have come today & are very flattering. More so than the culottes, which are going back.

Laska2Meryls · 03/03/2019 20:17

Hi all!! I'm just marking place.. back tomorrow..
@#knackeredafterfull-onweekend Laska (yawn)

justilou1 · 03/03/2019 21:40

@Ella & @Cherries - nothing covered here, but I think claimable as a work expense on tax. (Along with the shoes, the stethoscope, etc...Of course will only get back a percentage, won't I?) Le sigh.

Sounds like people have some exciting holiday plans happening. I'm waiting to find out about placements before I make mine. Mountains and fresh air will be involved! (Especially after hoovering up many dust rhinos around my house this weekend - they were much too big to be called bunnies!) I also managed a big Kon Mari of the cupboards to fit in the Uniqlo U jumpers and the inevitable change of seasons clothing that I feel I must buy. I managed to get rid of two jumpers - both were pretty tatty. My daughter snaffled one for mucking around the house in. (?) Suspect her grunge phase has kicked in. Anyhow, getting my Mantoux checked this morning and finding out the next procedure - then heigh ho, heigh ho.... It's off to school again. Today I have my favourite lectures, so that makes Mondays bearable!

EachandEveryone · 04/03/2019 09:14

Fuzzy my next appointment isn’t until end of September so have all your questions ready. Ive been referred for X-rays and ophthalmology in the meantime. Tablets are knocking me out.

It’s a lovely morning in Glasgow and we are going out with the double buggy so it will be a trainer and pull on trouser kind of day.

whiskyremorse · 04/03/2019 09:53

I've been quoted on the Mumsnet swears by email for recommending the Hush LL tops. Interesting as I was the only one recommending Hush and a few mentioned Matalan but I'm the one who was quoted. Hush is name checked a lot in those emails 🤔

dontcallmelen · 04/03/2019 10:36

Fuzzy hope appointment goes well today🤞🏻

justilou1 · 04/03/2019 11:03

Hi @Fuzzy! Best of luck with the rheumatologist today! I hope you get some answers! Autoimmune stuff is worry to get to the bottom of. I have a handful of seemingly unrelated autoimmune issues that will probably be knitted together one day as a syndrome or disorder. It’s frustrating and it makes me feel very old. I hope this doctor is kind and listens.

Ellapaella · 04/03/2019 12:02

@whiskyremorse yes either Hush, Boden or Marks and Spencer's get a mention without fail in every 'swears by'.

SoyYo · 04/03/2019 12:14

Afternoon! Feeling refreshed after a weekend away and also a 48 hour digital diet which is the reason I didn’t check the thread sooner.

@ella I ❤️ The stripe trainers added to my ever growing wish list, and you look good in the mum jeans a style I honestly cannot wear so a bit Envy at how you suit any jean shape. I’m glad you’re feeling brighter too.

@cherries hope the pain is subsiding today Flowers

@Fuzzy good luck with your appointment and @Each with your double buggy outing, it’s quite cold and blustery and hope it won’t last as I’ve got used to warm spring now.

@offred I have the striped Bryce culottes from last year and I reckon the 12 was too big for you but as you’ve now returned and happy with your new lucky purchases I’ll say no more about it Wink

twosoups1972 · 04/03/2019 12:38

fuzzy hope your appointment today goes well Flowers

ella fab trainers, hope you are feeling ok today.

Soy glad you enjoyed your weekend away, where did you go?

Laska2Meryls · 04/03/2019 12:45

Hi there. Well ombre T was a big disappointment on me. Just far too short in the body.. Also TBH I didn't like the V back on me ,either I think you need some cascading curls to cover the top strap and olive skin to pull it off. a' la Soy .. The colour is fab though, if they did that in a 'normal' T I'd def go for it ..
Oh well,

SoyYo · 04/03/2019 13:27

Oh dear what a shame Laska! At least the returns means you can look forward to trying something else now...I do think it’s overpriced and hope I won’t kick myself for keeping if it’s reduced soon...I’ll keep label on the M I’ve kept for the return period “just in case”...
I’m lusting after the pink cashmere v neck (and stripe trainers ella got) now but trying to see if I can resist till there’s a discount on.

@soups just to Cromer in North Norfolk coast. DH and I. Weather was ok Sat and not so good yesterday but we stayed Sunday night too and left early this am as we were both feeling very relaxed and didn’t want to break the spell. It’s only 1 1/2 hr drive from where we live in Cambs.

twosoups1972 · 04/03/2019 13:34

Sounds lovely Soy reminds me of the time me and my friends had a holiday after our GCSEs in my friend's parents' caravan near Cromer. Lovely part of the world.

laska that's a shame. Do you think long straight hair and very pale skin would work? Grin

EachandEveryone · 04/03/2019 17:00

Bloody hell this baby lark is exhausting, I thought 5 week olds slept in the day! She’s wife awake we had to stop for coffee and cake several times. I had a quick look in French Connection. They have nice big shirts in but I’m not paying £60. I popped into Primark and bought a couple of their Matt lipsticks they have lovely nude colours for £1.50

dontcallmelen · 04/03/2019 17:13

Aww that’s a shame Laska but at that price I reckon you have to love it.
Soy weekend sounds lovely, spent many a happy childhood holiday in & around the Norfolk coast, weather has definitely taken a turn for the worse though, it’s freezing here today.
Each least you managed coffee, cake & a bit of shopping, enjoy the baby cuddles.
It’s dgd 3rd birthday tomorrow, we were asking her what she wanted for her birthday she said she wanted to push the trolley rounds Lidl’s 😂😂 also taking her for afternoon tea, as she loves going to cafe.

Talisin · 04/03/2019 17:20

Very, very late to the party but love the ombre top on you, Soy. Ella I had no interest in the stripe trainers until I saw them on you and I’m glad you’re feeling better. cherries I hope perky (and pinky) are starting to feel a little better now.

I ordered the Natalia skirt which arrived today. Way out of my normal comfort zone as it’s so bright and pattern-y but I really like it - the style is very similar to the Yasmin (insect) skirt but a good couple of inches shorter which is good news for anyone under 5’7! The black lining feels a little odd at first for such a colourful skirt but I kind of like the contrast. I also got the Starla blouse for which I 100% blame Soy. I looked at it when it first came out but was put off by the early reviews which said it was short and boxy (and I didn’t like the bow and wasn’t sure how it would look undone). Well, it is short but as it’s not really made to be tucked in, that’s fine. Technically it’s also boxy but doesn’t look it unless you stick your arms out sideways. Bow can be left undone with no problems. Looks great with denim especially.

dontcallmelen · 04/03/2019 17:22

Oooh Tailsin you look amazing, love the colours on you & I think the blouse could be really versatile🤙

Ellapaella · 04/03/2019 17:44

Yes I agree - @Talisin you look lovely in both of those.
Am very tempted by the blouse now, looks so good on you and Soyo

SoyYo · 04/03/2019 18:21

Wow @Talisin the Starla shirt looks beautiful on you 😍 I think your blonde locks make it look extra special and I agree even though it’s quite an “evening” type shirt it is really easy to dress down and best left loose without the tie done up. Fab! (Btw thanks for the ombré thumbs up). I also like the skirt shape, comfy but sleek shape and the pattern easy to combine with lots of tops...I’ll bear it in mind (yet another possible future purchase!Shock)

@melen that is sooo sweet! Push the Lidl trolley for her birthday ❤️ Ah i can see why you enjoy every exhausting second with dgd...the wisdom that little human beings have in finding pleasure in the simplest things and the joy of discovering new things. Happy Birthday to her and I’m sure she’ll be totally awed by the dolls house.

Right off to masochists Pilates shortly x

SoyYo · 04/03/2019 18:24

@Ella the Starla would look fabulous for dinner out in your Dolce Vita break Wink
