@FloofyCatLovesPerfume def not a pink minger. Its orange and then vanilla/coconut on me

MrsMoggs · 09/02/2019 18:16

Floody is a mate of Innocent Dave's?

To be fair, some of our weeks are a bit like that too. Grin

The other package contained my latest eBay find; a tiny bottle of Ma Liberte (Jean Patou). Top notes are gone, and what's left is difficult to understand. The immediate thing to hit is a dusty combination of the best aspects of washing up liquid and a lit cigarette (better than it sounds), and underneath that there is a complex, dry cinnamon/clove/sandalwood, almost cola, accord. It's barely there though, and best caught a little distance from the skin. Would like to find some EdP in better condition. Does anyone else know this one?

teta · 09/02/2019 18:45

I saw that perfume Kalifornia. Had to look up the notes on Fragantica as the bottle looked so striking.
No skank here and no going out (apart from dd1at uni & Dd2 who’s Teflon coated) We’re all sick again. Dh is a frequent traveller to Asia and kindly brings us presents of the latest virus’s. You will know when the latest bird flu hits us because we will probably get it first.

Destiel · 09/02/2019 19:45

teta 😷

Lotsofpots · 09/02/2019 19:49

teta I think I must have encountered you in RL as we are all sick with something rotten too. Am cheering myself up with a Vietnamese takeaway and homemade monkey bread.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/02/2019 21:08

floofy alas, we have the world’s fussiest cat - she wouldn’t even entertain Lik-e-lix when we bought some a while ago. I actually tried her with it again when she was a bit off her food initially, and no dice. Today’s mouthwash and medication are done, thank god.

SOTD NRFH.

SotD Live in Love.

Had a trip to TK Maxx and as I was standing there trying to remember what your collective opinion of SJP NYC was someone put back a bottle of MH Rose Silence. It was 1/3 of its RRP. So obviously I had to buy it. Gave it to DH when I got home and told him it could be my valentine present Grin.

ToftheB and OhWhatFuckery, I have a bottle of Brocard Casual. This was only £20 for 75ml. It is a pleasant fruity perfume. The main notes are kiwi and watermelon, quite delightful. On me the kiwi is stronger than the watermelon. After an hour or two it fades quite badly, although that could be because I’m trying it in cold weather, but it still retains the lovely fruitiness as a skin scent, unlike so many other high street perfumes which have lovely top notes and then dry down to a boring musk. The bottle is really solid and just as good-looking as many an expensive brand.

Destiel · 10/02/2019 13:11

Sotd pp by the fireplace

KaliforniaDreamz · 10/02/2019 14:13

Count great buy - i like Rose Silence.
I've bought some coeur de fleur on ebay (decided to risk the fact it made be a dud) to give to DH to give to me for valentine's, who says romance is dead.

SOTD Timeless!

No hangover today as any alcohol i drank last night merely kept me bouyant rather than pushing me over the edge.

today is a crisp sandwich sort of day.

I have heard really good things about SJP but don't know the versions.

cantbelievemyeyes · 10/02/2019 14:46

SOTD is MH Lumiere Doree, TK Maxx cheapie.

Have got the buying bug again, am hanging round the DB groups too much! So a pretty much full bottle of Cartier La Panthere is now mine, and have a couple of decants on the way- Xerjoff Naxos, Insolence, and TL Tuscan Leather for DH. Oops Grin

KaliforniaDreamz · 10/02/2019 16:09

Tuscan leather sounds lovely

Calmasasleepycat · 10/02/2019 19:18

Count SJP NYC is a sweet strawberry vanilla with citrus notes. On me the vanilla is creamy, almost toffee-like. IIRC it lasts maybe two or three hours. I don’t wear it often, but enjoy it when I do. I love the mad bottle, too! Mine is EDP.

Destiel · 10/02/2019 20:24

Sote Avon timeless

Ollivander84 · 10/02/2019 20:35

I've caved and bought a full bottle from Kyse Blush

PestyMachtubernahme · 10/02/2019 20:41

SotD is Eclat d’Arpège because I am pretending it is spring.

KaliforniaDreamz · 10/02/2019 20:58

Pesty i got my nails done (once a year this happens) and went for neon pink instead of navy because i cannot wait for spring

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/02/2019 21:14

Also pretending it’s spring in FM Lipstick Rose.

PestyMachtubernahme · 10/02/2019 21:36

Kali I've even had a haircut (also an annual event).

MrsMoggs · 11/02/2019 00:01

Have been decanting a few bits and pieces, including Theo Fennell's Scent. That's now all I can smell.

Did have a breakthrough on Ma Liberte beforehand though, the ashy washing-up liquid smell is actually the driest lavender note ever.

Was enjoying Z14's earthy cinnamon/soapy freshness before that. Good for February, as it is still warm. Can't bear to wear anything green and chilly yet...

MrsMoggs · 11/02/2019 08:01

Back in Z14. Sure it's been said before, but this is chewing Dentyne (red packet)!in a proper barber shop. This is the uber cheap reformulation and it is really good.
Soapy clean and deeply aromatic. I imagine the vintage is spectacular.

CatherineMaitland · 11/02/2019 08:12

Scent of the day is Juliette Has a Gun Anyway. Tried it yesterday too and really like it.

FloofyCatLovesPerfume · 11/02/2019 08:26

So glad it's not just me whose thoughts are turning to Spring! I bought daffodils yesterday. I do love Winter but there is something so cheering about Spring coming.

Cant what are DB groups? I feel I should know this Smile and lots I don't think I had heard of monkey bread, I just googled and it looks just gorgeous! (I love any recipe containing the words "bundt tin") think I shall make some for a half term breakfast this week :)

SOTD Eau de Soir again uninspired

KaliforniaDreamz · 11/02/2019 09:16

MrsMoggs i love that old Dentyne (70s childhood) loving your descriptions.

SOTD Timeless (blaming Destiel) x

Destiel · 11/02/2019 09:33

kali I'm not even telling you how many bottles of timeless I'm stockpiling!! 😁

Loved the smell of dentyne! I also like the smell of petrol, germolene and creosote!

I'm off out with a friend for coffee later...I think it might be LADDM today
