I'm not here Grin

Happy Belated Christmas lovely scented people! Looking forward to hearing about fragrance presents - whether purchased by ourselves for ourselves or not Wink I didn't get perfume but DH followed the Rule of No Presents by getting me a fabulous weighty fountain pen which has a thingy (can't think of the name) to use little bottles of proper ink. I love it. We really don't use pens enough any more

I also broke the No Presents Rule Blush by giving him some lovely 70s/old fashioned toiletries - Old Spice/Proraso etc. I know for everyone of my age Old Spice reminds them of their dads Blush but they suit DH.

Eesha Haven't tried The Only One but I adore The One, you have to like lilies though!

Toffee I love body shop perfumes (RIP dewberry Smile) there is a fig one that's beautiful I just see them as body sprays rather than perfume as they don't last long on me. What perfume are you getting?

Judy I have a friend like that I have known since childhood, we don't live near each other anymore but one year we sent each other the same bracelet which arrived on the same day Grin

Full of post Christmas cold and feeling wretched today. I haven't even opened my Ferroro Rocher Shock so you can see the seriousness of this situation :) not even any SOTD as I have teenage DDs and my house smells like Lush Grin I'm sure you can smell it outside the front door, like walking past the Lush shop!

Heeley Hippie Rose today. I really love this.

cantbelievemyeyes · 30/12/2018 15:48

Diptyque L'Ombre Dans L'Eau today. Am not well and couldn't face anything heavy.

Finally went to Les Senteurs yesterday- what a lovely shop! Fab to try out some of the Tauers, and found a couple from Parfum d'Empire that were really good. Ending up buying the Tauerville Patch Flash which is right up my street. Really good value too.

strawberryblondebint · 30/12/2018 16:01

Hello. I'm a little lurker. Massive 4160 fan to the point I hate most other perfumes. Anyway I have an amazon voucher. I was thinking about Escentric molecule but really open to suggestions. My current fave is 4160 sexiest scent but it doesn't last. I love lush as well. Any ideas what I can get on amazon. I'm not averse to trying something new.
Any hidden gems before I head back to the 90's and buy eternity

cloud1183 · 30/12/2018 16:15

My sotd is my favourite purchase of 2018...Narciso Rouge. Love the Narciso range and the Rouge is a gorgeous musky rose scent

Mrsr8 I love those too but you have to try the new Rouge, it’s even better. Sticks to the musky blueprint of the others but the rose is gorgeous

Hello alll, lurker here too, although i have commented before once i think about Miller Harris.

I have 12 white sticks sat by me all sprayed in a diff MH perfume as i am on an obsessive hunt to find the one i had as a body oil back in the early 2000s. i have been doing my research and think i have narrowed it down to FLeur Oriental, Couer de Fleur or Figue Amere.
It was such a beautiful distinctive, feminine, mossy, earthy, dewey scent. Very sexy.
AARGH it is driving me mad.

BTW the new Peau Santal is very nice.

thanks for reading lol

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 30/12/2018 21:18

SOTD was L’Air de Rien, now in Wrappings after a bath.

I met my friend for lunch and she gave me 10ml of POAL which she didn’t like, plus samples by Kamila Aubre, who I had never heard of. One apparently became popular because a similar sounding fragrance was mentioned in Killing Eve - Villanelle. Anyway, one of them is disgusting, to the point of making me want to heave (I think the only other perfume to do that is ELDO SM!) but the Killing Eve one and the other are really nice. (My friend hated all of them.)

Hello, and welcome, lurkers.

floofy, how are you feeling? I still have my cold, this is the third week.

KaliforniaDreamz · 30/12/2018 21:31

My SOTD is Bottega Veneta eau legere.

I had a few Guerlin testers given to me over xmas and they're all very sickly. I shall name and shame tomorrow.

Calmanddance · 30/12/2018 21:46

I have been trying to finish some of my samples as I have far too many tester sprays with only a little bit left. On my right arm I had Vero Profumo Naja and on my left arm was Xerjoff 1861 Naxos. They are both beautiful sweet honeyed tobaccos, but the Naja has an extra heady floral depth to it which I prefer. Unfortunately it’s over £200 for 50 mls!

Kalifornia, I’m very fond of Miller Harris perfumes. They have a reputation for being short-lived, but last very well on me. Of your final three, I only know Couer de Fleur. Perhaps you should go to a stockist and have a final test of all three on your skin?

Judy, how lovely to be given 10ml of Portrait of a Lady!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 30/12/2018 23:49

calm we’ve been friends since uni, when we used to spend all our Saturday job money in the Debenhams perfume hall! She lives in London now, so it was really good of her to bring them with her.

OutComeTheWolves · 31/12/2018 00:06

Has anyone been to TK Maxx for the sales? I went today and they have a fair bit of perfume in the sale including a fairly large Miller Harris gift box for £20.

They also had a gorgeous black cherry and almond one by a brand I hadn't heard of before (Di palomo?) for £10. I'm trying not to spend at the minute so I just sprayed myself liberally instead of buying. In retrospect it didn't have much longevity, but it was a really beautiful smell and nothing like a Bakewell tart.

toffee1000 · 31/12/2018 03:24

Seems I’ve been wearing something every day since Xmas, having originally come on here saying I don’t have a regular SOTD... you lot are influencing me GrinGrin
Yesterday (30th) was a Chloé one, not sure what it’s called, it was a present and I chucked the box ages ago.

Bluesheep8 · 31/12/2018 09:31

Outcomethewolves, I saw that back cherry one in TK Maxx too. It was a beautiful bottle and sounded lovely but just didn't last when sprayed, I found. Mind you, I can't seem to find any fragrance that lasts nowadays. SOTD for me will be Liz Earle no 15 I think.

FloofyIdentifiesAsInnocentDave · 31/12/2018 09:51

Ooooh! I've been on the look out for that one (cherry and almond, my favourites) but it's always been out of stock, I shall send DH get to TK Maxx ASAP, although ours is shit unless you're after already opened and tried makeup, or a single earring, or a jumper off the floor HmmGrin

Kalifornia I remember your quest for the Miller Harris! I looked for you but haven't tried that many. Hope you identify it :)

Strawberry I'm no help, I love Eternity Smile

I learnt something interesting and slightly perfume related today, I was after some olbas oil and found out if you're epileptic you're not meant to use some essential oils, including eucalyptus. I love essential oils in my diffuser and now I'm panicking Confused but I think the ones in perfume are generally chemical (?) rather than true essential oils (unless you buy handmade rollerball perfumes from hippy shops which I will cease immediately Grin).

So no olbas oil (has anyone tried the MN recommendation of Vicks on the soles of your feet btw?) which is sad as my face and chest are full of concrete at the moment Angry

Happy New Year Perfumistas btw (too early?) Any resolutions apart from buying perfume ofc) Wink

OutComeTheWolves · 31/12/2018 10:27

Floofy if there is none in your TK Maxx give me a shout and I'll post a bottle down to you. We have 3 fab TK Maxxes near us and I love a good browse around the perfume and stationery bits.

MrsLucas · 31/12/2018 10:44

Morning All, welcome Lurkers Smile.

Strawberry - I noticed a bottle of Annick Goutal's L'Ile au The on Amazon for under £40. (From memory a very pleasant and airy citrus, green tea and musk. Almost worth it for the beautiful bottle which they've now replaced with a stumpier version, as part of their rebranding. Madness). Obviously, buying a full bottle of anything blind (or costing more than £x?) is against Perfumista rules ; but if this sounds like it might be up your street, perhaps you can get to a stockist to try?

Like MrsR8, I'm underwhelmed by the Molecules. Have tried 01 and 04 and they both played the same game: a shallow, synthetic peek-a-boo. I like perfumes which work a bit harder to win my affection. Smile. (But if you have an itch that needs scratching you can buy Iso E super very very cheaply on eBay).

I saw the Black Cherry in TK Maxx and immediately thought of Calm. I need to go on a rummage in their sale for Agonist and L'Artisan bargains. The Roads also look interesting. Has anyone tried these or any of the Starcks? (Judy - the Byredos seem to have defied our predictions and sold before reaching clearance Sad).

Floof, I see LT has some very nice things to say about Old Spice in the Original A-Z Guide.

I am jealous Can'tbelieve - do tell us more about Patch Flash.

Bluesheep, you must have more luck with LE's no.15 than me.
I got soooo fed up with its disappearing act, that I rehomed (and I never do that!).

Finally, this being New Year's Eve, does anyone want to join me in raising a cup to all our Perfumista acquaintances, especially old friends we haven't heard from in a while? Wishing everyone a peaceful and fragrant 2019 Wine.

FloofyIdentifiesAsInnocentDave · 31/12/2018 12:18

Lovely DH immediately went to our local store on The Perfume Quest for me, sadly the only perfume available was the 007 Women's Fragrance Hmm My local TK Maxx is shit Thank you for your kind offer wolves but DH spent the allocated perfume budget on (fabulous to be fair) Italian bar soaps Grin

Yes we should definitely raise a glass bottle of perfume to all Perfumistas, especially MIA (I still think of Green!) Thanks
