Princess Eugenie's wedding: The sartorial highs and lows. Plus Fergie's back, bitches!

Following on from the general royal style thread, which is fast filling up, here's one just to discuss today's outfits.

My predictions

I’m really hoping Fergie will look fabulous - <a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=goo.gl/images/Ex3BbE" target="_blank">teal or <a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=goo.gl/images/oiAQaV" target="_blank">forest green look good on her.

After Kate's recent trip to the V&A, I’m hoping for something a bit more adventurous than a pale blue or yellow coat dress. Sophie in blue or pink Wickstead, Meghan in navy and/or boat-neck. She and Victoria Beckham may end up in similar outfits.

The Queen in fuchsia, neon green or yellow, Ladies Sarah and Helen in something elegant and understated, Karen Spencer in a dress that’s spectacular but so tight she can’t breathe.

And of course Princess Anne in a dress she's owned since 1986 that still fits her perfectly!

Poor Lady Lou, possibly the worst age for it as well as she's not young enough to giggle it off and too young to not care. Shane on any idiot sharing pics of a child like that :(

Honeyroar · 12/10/2018 14:03

They've got to have top security when the queen will be there!

I get more wound up about big companies not paying tax than I do about money being spent on royal occasions.

CocoLoco87 · 12/10/2018 14:03

Just catching up on all the photos. I think Eugenie looked so beautiful and naturally happy. I feel so pleased for her and I don't even know her! She looks like a princess Smile

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 12/10/2018 14:05

With Louise being under the age of 16, then surely people are committing a criminal offence (also a vile & stupid thing to do) by posting video footage/photo of Louise & her skirt incident.

CocoLoco87 · 12/10/2018 14:05

What happened with Lady Louise? I missed the coverage

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/10/2018 14:06

@Honeyroar I think the extra security was for the carriage ride, not what was going on within the grounds of the castle, which is pretty well-policed already.

Her skirt wasn’t weighted so the w8nd caught it.

princessbear80 · 12/10/2018 14:09

I only saw glimpses on the telly, but thought Eugenie looked wonderful, what a gorgeous dress.

Kate looked great, thought the colour really suited her. Were her shoes the same ones she wore to the V&A the other evening?

artemisdubois · 12/10/2018 14:09

@CocoLoco87 the back of her skirt blew right up as she was helping usher the bridesmaids and page boys up the steps into the chapel. I saw it on the live coverage and was pleased that it wasn't mentioned by the ITV presenting team (rightly so!). Apparently some nasty bullies are sharing photos of it on twitter. Hopefully there'll be repercussions for those doing so.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/10/2018 14:12

Apparently the Queen weights her hems down, but this may well be an urban legend! Kate might too now, after she fell victim to the wind on her Canadian trip some years ago. Her reveal was worse than Louise's but at least she's an adult.

There was an audible gasp from the crowd when the wind caught Lady Louise's dress. I really dislike all of this conversation about a 14 year old girl's underwear. Very unfair on her.

SleepingStandingUp · 12/10/2018 14:13

Twitter mainly looks of disgust for anyone sharing and a few apologies for not realising it was Lou not Beatrice.

There was a shot of her in church with Zara and then out walking with some old guy.

I still don't get the whole Beatrice thing. Her job was Fergie's plus one, not MOH

Dontfeellikeamillenial · 12/10/2018 14:14

Thanks, Queen, for clarifying about fergie and her title.

Yes, sadegg, looks like she has everything!

Poor Louise, bit of a rubbish age for that to happen. Can you actually see her knicks tho or just the top of her legs?

Dontfeellikeamillenial · 12/10/2018 14:15

^^
I was wondering how come Katie's dress didn't blow around!

CocoLoco87 · 12/10/2018 14:16

Poor Lady Louise! Shame they didn't weigh her skirt down like the queen does. Having that happen isn't great at any age but maybe worse as a teenagerSad

MartaTam · 12/10/2018 14:18

What's the connection with Demi Moore? Confused

lalalalyra · 12/10/2018 14:19

You have to love the way a few people seem to be thinking that saying "Oh I thought it was Beatrice" makes its fair game to be sharing around willy nilly.

And some of the posters, particularly, journos playing the "I thought it was the nanny" - she looks like a teenager. It's not like she's dressed particularly grown up, caked in make up and in heels looking older. She looks like a 14 year old!

artemisdubois · 12/10/2018 14:20

It's not just the top of her legs, no.

halcyondays · 12/10/2018 14:21

Why would you share it anyway, whoever you thought it was?

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/10/2018 14:21

We're nearly at 1000 posts but I've just spotted another Eugenie wedding thread. So instead of starting a new one, I suggest we reconvene there instead. The latest general Royal Style thread is still running too, for those who want to talk about royals other than those who were at the wedding today!

Kate did have a slight skirt malfunction - saw a pic on the DM of the royals outside the church, and the wind had li

EmGee · 12/10/2018 14:37

Sorry. The wind had lifted her dress.

As an aside aren’t those two Phillips girls utterly adorable????

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/10/2018 14:39

All the little attendants were super-cute. Charlotte certainly does love waving!
