Princess Eugenie's wedding: The sartorial highs and lows. Plus Fergie's back, bitches!

Following on from the general royal style thread, which is fast filling up, here's one just to discuss today's outfits.

My predictions

I’m really hoping Fergie will look fabulous - <a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=goo.gl/images/Ex3BbE" target="_blank">teal or <a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=goo.gl/images/oiAQaV" target="_blank">forest green look good on her.

After Kate's recent trip to the V&A, I’m hoping for something a bit more adventurous than a pale blue or yellow coat dress. Sophie in blue or pink Wickstead, Meghan in navy and/or boat-neck. She and Victoria Beckham may end up in similar outfits.

The Queen in fuchsia, neon green or yellow, Ladies Sarah and Helen in something elegant and understated, Karen Spencer in a dress that’s spectacular but so tight she can’t breathe.

And of course Princess Anne in a dress she's owned since 1986 that still fits her perfectly!

I thought Ruth and Eamonn - and I quite like them usually - demonstrated how professionally the BBC does this kind of thing. Their commentary was inane.

My guest outfit analysis:

I don't mind the colour of Ayda's outfit but it really doesn't fit her well at all.
Jamie Redknapp's trousers are too short.
Ellie Goulding (& her plus one - no idea who that is) are wearing outfits entirely unsuited to the season. Her friend is wearing a Sandro dress which is from their SS18 collection and is really lightweight silk...I own the same dress!
Meghan looked chic but cold. I'm not convinced she is trying to provoke an "is she/isn't she" reaction. She is incredibly tiny & thin and clothes seem to just hang off her frame.
Fergie looked beautiful. Emerald really suits her and the cut was perfection.
Kate Moss looked rather meh IMO. The polka dot choice was a little too 80's Diana.

God, the inane chat on ITV now is doing my nut in. They do like to pretend they know them intimately, don't they?! Let's face it, if you were that intimately acquainted you'd be on the other side of the cameras right now.

Oh and Pippa looked like the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz. I know that's harsh but my god that dress was just awful.

Hope Louise is okay and not sobbing in some side chapel. It’s a terrible thing to be caught in a gust of wind like that let alone being 14 and on telly.

I thought the highlights they showed at the end were very well edited. They didn't show fergie tripping and the hick up with the ring so that was very respectable on their part.

If Meghan is already pregnant she'll just skip some countries, or even the whole tour. I wouldn't be overly surprised if the small details of the tour had basically assumed that Meghan wouldn't be there - they just can't say that publicly without crazy speculation.

Crowd is thinner than in May, but it's a weekday so that's to be expected. Choosing the closed carriage was sensible. They were lucky with the weather overall, could have been freezing cold and tipping it down.

Funny how I usually find RL weddings boring AF but love a royal wedding.

Ah, just seen some footage of Michaels of Kent and Princess Alexandra, so they were there too. Still not spotted the Snowdons though.

I think Meghan is just being canny with her clothes choice, so that if / when she is finally pregnant then it won’t be blindingly obvious.
If she is; they will just skip the last bit, or maybe Harry will go by himself

I think people hate on Meghan because she is a regular person and whilst people can accept royalty and their privilege if they can pigeon hole them as 'a different breed', they can't accept a regular person becoming royal as it highlights that 'it could have been them or theirs but it wasn't'. I think people hate seeing regular people end up with better fortune than themselves.

After all, the criticisms a frankly, ridiculous.

That she's multiple times divorced. She isn't. She's been divorced once as have most of the royals.

That her hair is not to someone's liking...

That she wears black and navy a lot...

That she wore an slightly off the shoulder dress...so have Kate and Beatrice is wearing one in church at Eugenie's wedding...

That she walks in front of Harry so thereby is poorly brought up....so do Sophie and Kate and no one seems to mind...

That she is too expressive and can't control herself...that she is too controlled....

That she has divorced parents....?????

That she is common and a two bit actress eve. Though she has two degrees from two top universities....

That she is a fake humanitarian even though she been doing stuff since she was 12.....

And the. There are all the people who on the basis of tabloid journalism think they know her motivations and character better than the people who know and love her....

I mean a royal wedding is RL of course, just not for me as I only see them on tv.

Sympathy for Lady Louise as the exact same thing happened to me in the middle of town yesterday. I have to remember to wear a slip on windy days to avoid Marilyn moments...

I don't think the Clooneys were there, otherwise the camera would've picked them out in the crowd. The Beckhams weren't there either.

I've been wondering who the thin dark haired woman sat with the older man was... now I've seen the Mail link upthread I see it was Demi Moore! I'd never have known. She's changed beyond all recognition.
