Can’t believe I’ve started a second hand zebra trend. Rather delighted.

I agree that some hush is overpriced for the quality. I tend to steer clear of the viscose and anything I buy and keep I love. I know people are possibly falling out of love with Hush but I do so like this thread. I get lots of ideas from lots of lovely people!

My no spend September is going very badly... but my ebaying is going well! I’ve managed to net £100 (after my post and packing costs) and have invested it in the Daniel Malta boots. With a 10% discount they have cost me £43 pounds... I cannot wait to meet them!

A good clear out has reminded me of things I love and identified specific gaps which, If filled, will make an outfit. I’ve returned a few things which where BNWT as really they were more of stuff I had (and don’t wear enough) and put the money into the basics I need to make outfits. So back went two dresses (I rarely wear dressy dresses) and in came coated leggings in black from next and two polo necks, one black, one brown. That was a cost of less the £10.

I’m looking for trousers to match a very awkward coloured and expensive top which will move it into circulation.

I found a skirt which I really liked but was an odd length so getting it altered.

So far, with the boots, I’ve spent £88 but I’ve a much more wearable wardrobe and a load more stuff on eBay so I will end up even!

Well worth the time.

never that pinny is lovely, a real bargain.

Oasis skirt versus Hush skirt.
I like them both although I have to say the Oasis one is much 'sturdier'!

@PorpoisefullyObtuse I love the Mustang boots. Mustang make gorgeous shoes, boots and trainers but are unfortunately just a tad too narrow for my unusually wide feet.

Ellapaella · 15/09/2018 12:28

£7.99 versus £59 skirts!

PorpoisefullyObtuse · 15/09/2018 12:32

I prefer the hush one (and have the oasis one) but Is it worth the extra money?

The hush feels dressier even with everything else the same. I really do like it but, for how I would wear it they both do the same thing.

Basically I’m no bloody help. What do you see yourself wearing it for Ella? If it’s a going out skirt hush, a round town on Saturday/office skirt then oasis!

Ellapaella · 15/09/2018 12:39

I'm keeping both, I'm just a bit gutted about the hem on the Hush one, hoping it doesn't unravel!
Oasis is probably best for causal wear, I'm wearing it today with these boots. The Hush one I'm going to wear out tonight for a meal with friends with a more delicate black suede boot and silky black top.

PorpoisefullyObtuse · 15/09/2018 12:44

Good choice Paella!

I’ve gone pure comfort today. I’ve got bursitis in my hip and it’s bloody sore. Found these leggings in my wardrobe in the massive clear out and they are incredibly versatile. Lovely with my grey trainers and black wide v top. Today I’m wearing them with a navy and grey poncho. Tbh it’s as comfy as pjs!

There is no doubt in my mind that the Hush one has the edge style wise. But £59 for a skirt that is pretty flimsy against £4 for the oasis one, which apparently is BNWT made it a no-brainier for me. Before I got dd to send mine back I told her to have a good look round the entire hem and she said there were several areas that had a lot of loose threads and looked as if you pulled one it would fray. I’m already embarrassed by the amount of times I complain to hush, (last years wide jersey top with the Venetian blind folds, last years star biker because of the sharp metallic threads scratching my chest, the contrast trim trousers that shrank 3 inches on first wash, the maxi alanis dress that dropped off tracking and never arrived and soon the Kensington dress), that I just didn’t want there to be anything else.

ilovecherries · 15/09/2018 12:51

Although I don’t know why I’m the one that’s embarrassed to be honest, as they’ve all been real issues and I have still spent a fortune there.

neveradullmoment99 · 15/09/2018 13:03

I actually prefer the hush one too. But I do like the oasis one. I think the hush one could just be for occasional use. If its for occasional wear, it might be ok. Still not great for £59.
I will be on the look out for a zebra skirt of some kind from somewhere. If anyone sees one [ especially an A-line one] that would be great! Let me know.
@Ella, I got a £3 voucher Sad Why not a £5 I have no idea. It is very annoying about them not being online. They had a lovely animal print pleated skirt but there were none left in my size.

Ellapaella · 15/09/2018 13:05

@neveradullmoment99 I do my weekly shop at Tesco online and must spend at least £140 a week so I accumulate a lot of club card points, that might be why?
My local Tesco only has a medium sized clothes dept so I'd probably have to go further afield to find some of the stuff.

Ellapaella · 15/09/2018 13:07

I saw that animal print pleated skirt last week - myself and another customer spotted it at the same time and made a beeline! I didn't go for it as I'm not a huge midi or long skirt wearer but it's very nice.

neveradullmoment99 · 15/09/2018 13:12

I'm not either but I do quite like the look of a midi pleated skirt with ankle boots. You need to be very careful how you wear it otherwise its really frumpy.

neveradullmoment99 · 15/09/2018 13:14

I think the length on you as you are a couple of inches taller would have looked great with a pair of ankle boots and a black fine round neck neat knitted jumper.

dontcallmelen · 15/09/2018 13:18

My pennyworth, I think the oasis skirt is a really good everyday skirt as it look much more robust & can wear with thicker jumpers/cardigan whereas the hush one, I think would look really good with thinner tops as it’s much more delicate looking, I am beginning to realise though I have lots of bonkers ‘rules’ with clothes, which also stops me from being a bit more experimental.

Ellapaella · 15/09/2018 13:36

Len I agree though. I think the shorter 'mini skirt' style lends itself well to chunky oversized jumpers etc where as the delicate Hush skirt needs a fine knit or very simple design up top, nothing too big or loose. If it wasn't so thin it might actually be more versatile.

Ellapaella · 15/09/2018 13:39

@neveradullmoment99 I like the idea of the midi/maxi skirt and think they look great on others, agree boots would work well. But I suppose I'm quite a practical (boring) dresser in many ways and as I'm either at work (in uniform) or mostly running round after dc and dogs I wouldn't get much wear out of a longer skirt as I'd feel it was too 'fussy' for my everyday life if that makes sense.
If I had a job where I worked in an office or needed to wear smart/causal I'd definitely wear one.

neveradullmoment99 · 15/09/2018 14:04

I know exactly what you mean. If I didn't work in a school, I reckon I would wear it very little. Last year I was with the younger children and was more casual as I was sitting on the carpet with them etc so would never have done a long skirt. This year I am with older children and less likely to be on the floor or get paint on me.

dontcallmelen · 15/09/2018 14:05

Ella yy I think if the hush skirt was say a crepe fabric, would definitely be more versatile top wise.
I love midi skirts, cropped trousers on other people but on me I always feel self conscious as I don’t have the height to carry them off & feel as though they make me look even shorter.

neveradullmoment99 · 15/09/2018 14:06

I have worn my zebra skirt only with a fine black jumper. I don't like the way the floral one is styled on the hush website with the chunky jumper. I think its all wrong imo.

Ellapaella · 15/09/2018 14:08

Has anyone washed their wide jersey top? It says handwash but it's modal so should be okay on a delicate wash?

neveradullmoment99 · 15/09/2018 14:09

..and I often think hush don't make the most of their stock. I like to buy a dress and would love to buy something that matches it like a nice cardigan. I am always in cardi's as they suit my lifestyle. I very often buy a skirt from them but struggle to find a nice top that picks out the colours or that is plain. I think its a shame cause they would make more money. Why haven't they done a nice long bf cashmere cardigan? They had one a few years back but none since. I would have definitely consider one but the only cardigans they have are way too long which is limiting for putting on a coat.
